Sarah Palin: Newsweek Cover Showing My Legs "Sexist" (PHOTOS)
Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 11:23:57 in Media
“The photo itself is not sexist. The use of it on the Newsweek cover is. Palin says the photo was intended for a running magazine. In that context, it makes sense. That Newsweek, a news and current events magazine with little to do with running or fitness, chose that photo to promote an article about the influence of Palin and her ideas, is sexist. Can anyone honestly say that Newsweek would have used a photo of Obama playing hoops, George W. chopping wood, or Bill Clinton on a jog on their COVER to promote a story supposedly about ideas?
The result of this choice of cover photo is that Palin is portrayed as a sassy bimbo who shouldn't be taken seriously because of how she looks in this photo. Palin's ideas alone are enough to discredit her as a reasonable public figure. We don't need a provocative photo that highlights the fact that she's a woman. This cover is tantamount to Newsweek running a cover photo of candidate Obama shooting hoops or dancing at a rally with a headline "Is America ready for a Black President?", which I'm sure we would all be outraged about. Leave this type of "news" to Glenn Beck and FOX.”

On the highway, take an exit at a moderately sized city and head for the city center. There will likely be several stations near the ramp with cheaper gas."
So why would you head to the city center unless you want more expensive gas?”

“That's almost as bad an idea as Nader's proposal to make a child of every member of congress who votes for war serve in the military. Funny how the same people who argue for personal freedom can turn around and think it's OK for the federal government to force a grown adult to serve. The draft is a thing of the past. Let's keep it that way.”
