A Moment of Truth with Bill Moyers, Marcy Kaptur, and Simon Johnson

“Because the fact is that Geithner will do NOTHING to challenge the status quo that has created this disaster. No meaningful attempt to change any of the cancerous rot that pervades the Wall Street controlled system of corruption and greed will succeed while Geithner is positioned to deflect that change, and every indication I have seen in the last 9 months suggest that that is JOB ONE for Treasury.”

“In point of fact, Geithner has a plethora of reforms in front of Congress. He makes vigorous defenses of them.
A HuffPo article made fun of him for using cuss words when he chewed out regulators who were opposing Obama's reforms.
Let's try it again.
Fact-based, not mythology and make believe.
Give one factual reason to Obama why he should fire his most effective cabinet member.
I'll refresh you on some of the HuffPo's, either actually in articles written by alleged professionals or in the comments, highly reasoned attacks on Geithner:
1. He has beady eyes.
2. He looks like a Vulcan.
3. He looks like an elf.
4. The blue tile in his bathroom is outdated and hard on the eyes.
5. He can't sell his house
6. His house went down in value.
7. He cussed out regulators who are opposing financial reform.
8. He worked for Goldman Sachs.
9. He's owned by the BuildYourBurgers. Tinfoil-hat time.
10. He had lunches with Wall Street bankers. LMAO.
11. He has phoned Wall Street bankers this year. LMAO.
12. While looking for a home in Washington DC, Geithner and his family stayed at a friend' house. LMAO.
I don't think Obama thinks much of that sort of stupidity.”

“From all I'd heard about this study guide, I expected a somewhat over the top piece, but it's so completely apolitical and, in fact, well done, that I'm even more pissed off than I was before. The guide suggests COMPLETELY APPROPRIATE and EDUCATIONALLY SOUND teaching points that could only be objected to by woefully misguided Chicken Littles who are being fed swill by those they listen to so fervently.”
Idle Speculation: Mel Martinez Is Retiring Early Because He Supports Marco Rubio
Commented Aug 07, 2009 at 17:26:29 in Politics
“Of course Martinez said he supported Crist...he's the governor, for Crist's sake...but he's doing all he can to see that Rubio actually gets the seat. Martinez either wants Rubio to win, or the RNC is making Martinez walk the plank so Rubio gets the seat.”

“"Willing dupes" is an oxymoron...some at the NYT are willing propogandists (J Miller, E Bumiller) and others may be simply dupes, but there's a distinction, I hope. The again, with Liz Cheney dominating as a talking head in a clear effort to become the once and future Republican Hillary, maybe media is led by a bunch of dupes willing to prop up continuously discredited journalists and commentators just to keep viewers/readers eng(r)aged....”

“The "liberal biased media" meme is only touted by the "media". I have to say I'm scratching my head trying to.... Whaaaaa?”
Obama Underwhelms, McCain Patronizes

“I have to agree 100 percent with PR...this was the first POTUS debate where I was standing in front of the TV yelling more pointed, accurate and effective retorts at the Republican candidate than my candidate. I was very dismayed at Obama's lack of engagement...the use of which could have been defended as a demonstration of his "strategy" of engaging our adversaries in the real world...if he wants to negotiate with those who disagree with us, he really needs to grow a pair and use them...
To be honest, I didn't watch many of the primary debates (Obama got my support via his policy positions, not the knock-down drag-outs of the primary season), so I was caught off-guard by his very tempered performance. The "choir" may be familiar and comfortable with his debate style, but I am not. And though I know the issues inside and out and support Obama's positions completely, he's trying to sway undecideds now, who need to be SWAYED, not put to sleep.”
