“When is HP going to stop putting Ann Coulter in the Political section? Wouldn't "Weird News" be much more accurate?”

viewfromsnohomish on Feb 1, 2013 at 03:55:52

“No. Ann Coulter belongs in the health section, in the column addressing the causes of erectile dysfunction.”

ocopinion on Feb 1, 2013 at 03:27:38

“Agreed, give her; Palin, Rove, Limbaugh and all the other loons their own section so we can read about SANE stuff. They can fade away.”

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey Says He Regrets Comparing Obamacare To 'Fascism'

Commented Jan 18, 2013 at 14:14:03 in Business

“It is time for corporations to start marketing themselves by how they treat their employees. Why? Because we can choose to spend our money at places that VALUE their workers. I want the add on TV not to be about who's milk is cheaper, but a comparison of how the employees are treated. As to Whole Foods, it's a terrible disappointment. SO MANY PEOPLE who are priced out of the health insurance market, or denied any coverage due to pre-existing conditions, scrimp and save to shop there in an effort to stay healthier and out of the doctor's office. Shopping at Whole Foods will never feel good anymore.”

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey Says He Regrets Comparing Obamacare To 'Fascism'

Commented Jan 17, 2013 at 20:24:32 in Business

“John Mackey has ruined my positive feelings about shopping at Whole Foods. As mostly vegetarian, and with an new Whole Foods opening in my neighborhood, I am now torn as to
whether or not I want to continue to shop there. How anyone can support healthy food choices, but at the same time, support denying health care to millions (many people shop there because they have pre-existing conditions, e.g.) is very disheartening. This makes me sick.”

Jethro Doo Doo Stains on Jan 17, 2013 at 20:39:48

“People don't shop at Whole Foods because they have pre-existing conditions, that's a silly statement. Believe it or not, others stores do sell healthy food, it's just not as expensive. Folks like you want health care for all, but you sure don't want to shop with "them people". While I agree with his point, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. All of the Whole Foods shoppers will continue to shop there because, God forbid their neighbors see them walking into the house with a Save-A-Lot bag.”

“For Condi to suggest the Republican message was mixed is a joke. Unless you consider bad to worse a mixed message. The hate spewed by Republican candidates towards women, minorities, immigration, the whole "takers" thing.......yeah......they will look to soften what they say, but never will it change what they FEEL. It's all pretty sickening. Thank goodness the Democrats were able to prevail. We'll need to really make some progress this next four years
so that we can continue to be the party that is inclusive, fair, and compassionate to all Americans.”

“My understanding is that the Federal Government will set up Health Exchanges for the states if folks like Rick Scott choose not to. So the people of Florida, and all Americans will have the
opportunity to purchase affordable care. And if you are not able to financially do it, the government will help you offset the cost. You will no longer be denied affordable care because of pre-existing conditions, you're small business employer doesn't offer it, or you just have been priced out of the market in the past. Rick Scott can't keep this from happening.”

“The Florida polls opened this morning. As reported in the NY Times, and a quote from an African American pastor to those with him, waiting to vote: "“Our father, our God,” began the Rev. R.L. Gundy of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. “Our ancestors paid a dear price to have a right to vote, and we don’t take it for granted. Yet the enemy does all it can to disenfranchise us. God, go with us into these polls and every poll around the country.”
No one, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, sex, etc. should have to even
contemplate a statement like this. But many do. Wilkerson is right. Racism is alive in America, especially in the GOP.”

Mitt Romney: People Don't 'Die In Their Apartment Because They Don't Have Insurance'

Commented Oct 11, 2012 at 11:59:39 in Business

“You are so exactly right. It is SO mean and cruel to suggest that having no access to health care won't result in someone dying in their "apartment." It's about LIVING as best a quality of life as possible, not having to suffer from illnesses that go untreated. Every time Romney makes a comment about this, I just get sick to my stomach. And the fact that millions share this view is, in a convoluted way, uniquely American. Countries with universal health care look at us in total disbelief.”

Mitt Romney: People Don't 'Die In Their Apartment Because They Don't Have Insurance'

Commented Oct 11, 2012 at 11:53:12 in Business

“It's not just about just dying. I have many friends that, unable to get insurance (because of pre-existing conditions), or because the insurance companies charge individuals rates that are too expensive to afford, routinely go without medical treatment until their situation is too painful, etc. to ignore, and it is much worse by then. I have family, that because of pre-existing conditions can't find ANY insurance company that will give them ANY policy at ANY price. And of course someone like Mitt, who has lived a privileged live will NEVER GET THIS. EVER. Even under Obamacare, it won't be until 2014 that ADULTS will have access to insurance pools, so if you're in this situation, you better stay healthy until then. It's NOT about FREE health care, it is about our country providing a pathway in which ALL Americans have ACCESS to AFFORDABLE and QUALITY health care. Without that, we are a disgrace as a country.”

“Right now there is a plan for people with pre-exisiting conditions. You can check it out under the health care plan”

Blunderusunder on Oct 11, 2012 at 12:08:04

“Yes, when it comes to health care, we ARE a disgrace as a country. We spend the most money on health care, much more than any other country, but the quality leaves much to be desired. Infant mortality rates are lower in other countries; life span is longer in other countries; even medical research is farther along in a few other countries. Australia comes to mind, for one. The United States ranked as 37th in health care out of 191 countries.

John Boehner, on July 1st, 2012, said that America has the best health care system in the world. PolitiFact proved him wrong. But Republicans are not going to let fact-checkers tell them how to run their campaign. We know that from these disgusting statements by both Romney and Ryan, the two men running to take America back to the eighteenth century.”

“Romney will only continue to spew nonsense and lies until the election. Millions will believe him and cast their ballots for him. Romney's suggestion that he will keep our military SO strong that NO ONE would dare challenge us is just such total bull dung. A few guys with box cutters managed to kill thousands. Getting around the military is no problem for an event like that. Where ever we have great masses of people assembled, whether on airplanes, sporting events, malls, airports, etc. the military has no presence. If it were to happen again, it won't be the military that will change the minds of would be terrorists. That thought of his is totally naive. And totally untrue. However, war mongers, and the industrial military complex will remain hopeful that the Repubs return to the White House. Wow. SMH.”
