“Excessive adulation from the left (and I'm a leftist) obscured who Obama really was - comfortably conformist and willing to serve the powerful using a mantra of change to hypnotize the masses.

Once Obama picked Summers and Geithner - that was a Rorschach test demonstrating his establishment ties.

I think that many liberal bloggers need to revisit their uncritical celebration of Obama during the campaign - they created a President who is used to adoration and slavish devotion. He has no need to fight for any of us - he was loved before he had any accomplishments.”

I read a lot of newspapers and anyone who asks me I can name the infinite # that I read. Not one member of my family has ever wanted any one of our states to remove themselves from the Union. I have never stood over a Caribou or a Moose or whatever while it's throat was slit, with my daughter. I can see Wall Street from my house but that doesn't mean I'm qualified to work there. I don't belive that a woman, after she's been raped, should be hit with the bill for the rape kit. “Women are 60% of the population - if we all voted alike we would have had a woman president right about the time we earned the right to vote. Women are a lot of things but stupid is not one. To be honest, I don't even believe Hillary would have won had she become the nominee.”

“How'd that work out with Ferraro in 1984?”

histprof replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 18:03:40

“In spite of decades, even centuries, of evidence, too many people believe that women, given the chance, will more often than not, vote for one of their own. As a feminist and teacher of women's history, I can say loudly and clearly: NOT!. The suffrage movement lasted seventy-two years not only because of male opposition, but because women fought against the vote as well. As soon as the suffragists won, men found, to their utter dismay, that women didn't all vote alike. In fact, they were all over the map.

Now, some women will vote for Palin because she's a woman -- either they wanted Hillary or they just plain want one of their own. Some will vote against her because she's a woman--haven't heard from them yet and maybe never will. They'll just quietly vote. Some women who now support her will change their minds and vice versa. Ah, feminism, it allowed women to be individuals and just as irritatingly perverse as men.”

jinjinpinti replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 17:53:59

“ruby, Unfortunately you have zip understanding of women voters, especially OLDER women who are the largest voting group of all in this country. Older women have adult daughters and young granddaughters and a lifetime of experience rife with sexist discrimination. We know ALL ABOUT those females among us who pander to the good ol' boys club in order to curry favor and gain power. We view Palin as an enemy to women's rights. Someone who was voted in Governor by a state populated predominantly by Republican males. WE want our daughters and granddaughters to have the choice to end a pregnancy caused by incest or rape. Palin wants to force them to carry it to term or risk death or injury in an illegal backroom abortion. We want them to be paid equal pay for equal work. WE don't think they should be billed for the rape kit needed to help solve the crime against them. We also love our sons and grandsons and don't want some politician even suggesting that war is the answer to current international conflicts. And we don't want to spend the next four years with john McDraft and Sarah Bush ( who is GWB with a uterus) running our nation farther into the ground.”

StickyStickyMcCain replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 17:08:45

“what about the chinese, mexican, black, italian, and other ethnic women, they are a large bloc of women, including moderate catholic women, who have nothing in common with Sarah Palin, except the anatomy.”

toddausaurus replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 17:05:48

“Correct. See, what I don't understand is a lack of realism from Obama voters. I'm not saying he can't still win, of course he can. But I see a lot of grasping at anythng that comforts them here. I'm not trying to be a jerk but I just think it's smarter to plan for the worst and fight, instead of telling yourselves the Palin phenom is done, or that certain polls are skewed because of this or that. O should have picked Hillary but Michelle wouldn't let him, just a guess.”

Fabienne replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 17:02:03

“Any woman who votes for Cain and Unable votes against her self and her choices in life, and I am not only speaking about the right to have an abortion. I can't imagine who Palin can appeal to. Even conservative stay-at-home mothers should be put off by her absolute inability to raise a functional family. Palin does not represent "coming home" -- she represents going to hell.”

jazabelz replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 17:00:08

“RubbyRubbyRubby -- you are full of hot air. Intelligent women will not flock to Sara Palin and will nto vote for her just because she's a woman -- that is just plain ludicrous to write that -- If anything her positions will galvanize women to proactively rally against the type of garbage she spreads and to invigorate women to become actively engaged in politics like they were in the 60's!”

jadeba replied on Sep 12, 2008 at 16:45:15
