Republican Hypocrisy on Terrorism Reaches New Levels of Awful
Commented Dec 31, 2009 at 14:15:43 in Politics
“Republican hypocrisy has reached a new low: they are now tied with Democrats in the Hypocrisy Sweepstakes. It is strange, though, that Democrats who were so vile with George W. Bush can't seem to take it when their man, Barack Obama, is whacked for his Administration's incompetence. Get a life, folks. It's America, and most of us reading this are Americans. President Grown-Up

“As long as the President believes he can get anywhere by engaging foreign leaders whose political situations do not permit accommodations with the U.S., and as long as he and his attorney general think a $75,000,000 show trial of 9/11 plotters will convince the world we are good people, he is not a grown-up. What Next in the Battle for Health Care Reform?
Commented Dec 23, 2009 at 16:59:45 in Politics
“It's all very well to blame Senator Lieberman for the defeat of healthcare reform, but the fact is that the bill, crafted by Democrats addressed the problem of health insurance, not health care. The problem lies with the President who had no clear idea of what healthcare reform really meant because he never wrote it down. He left that to the corrupt Representatives and Senators. This bill, and how it is crafted, is a disgrace to the entire Democratic Party, from the President down. I expected better of him.”

Lieberman Betrayal Illustrates Why Senate Filibuster Rules Must Change
Commented Dec 16, 2009 at 14:43:00 in Politics
“There are plenty of things I can find to disagree with Joe Lieberman about. There are things he has done of which I disapprove. But I am aghast at the vitriol thrown his way because he is doing what he thinks is right. He took an oath of office, people, to this country, not to any party. He is fulfilling his oath. He was elected in what I presume were fair elections. He won because he won more votes than his Democratic and Republican opponents. It would seem some of the people who loathe him think the various means of writing healthcare bills are fine. I think they stink, are far too partisan and have loads of private interests that come before American patients and taxpayers. I agree, if you think Congress should have different rules, but neither the Senate nor the House of Representatives agrees with us.”

When Socrates drank hemlock, the consensus of citizens was similar to that of teabaggers (tyranny of the majority). Scientific communities are the best place to have arguments (big bang, string theory, ether, heliocentric) as the truth always wins out in the end. As for climate change, here is hoping the scientific community can rise above the political screamers in time.”
Obama, China, and Wishful Thinking About American Jobs

Leadership, Obama Style
Commented Nov 02, 2009 at 17:29:03 in Politics
“I hope Obama's presidency is very successful. But thus far, his foreign policy ploys have been ridiculous. Sending Senator Lurch from Massachusetts to Afghanistan was a joke. He engineered a run-off election and was hailed for his triumph. Unhappily, the Afghans refused to cooperate and there will be no run-off. Lurch, typically, talked to the wrong man. Obama drew a line in the sand about ending expansion of Israeli settlements in disputed territories. The Israelis, understandably, refused to put their lives on hold, like the Palestinians, and certainly not for Obama. So, they balked. They did offer some concessions, and typically the Palestinians and other Arabs said, "not enough." So, when Hillary, our vastly experienced secretary of state trumpeted success at getting Israeli concessions, the Arabs gave the Middle Eastern equivalent of a Bronx cheer. And Libya's Khaddafi was bombed into silence by Reagan, and so terrified by the despised George W. Bush that he abandoned his nuclear venture. However, after listening to Obama, he bought the Scottish Attorney General, secured the release of the Lockerbie bomber, and organised the Libyan equivalent of a ticker tape parade for the mass murderer of Americans, after receiving calls from The White House urging no celebration. We are despised and certainly not respected. The world's only great superpower is becoming irrelevant. So is our dollar. None of this can be blamed on the Bush Administration. Yes, Obama inherited a mess. So did Bush.”

Why Journalists Shouldn't Be Defending Fox News
Commented Oct 23, 2009 at 16:09:44 in Politics
“In the interests of fairness, the Obama Administration should suspend the First Amendment for the duration of Mr. Obama's presidency. He should certainly use the full power of the U.S. government to harass and intimidate all Fox News personnel, even the janitors. The full panoply of early a.m. enhanced interrogations by the FBI; IRS audits; and forced listening to the sermons and diatribes of Obama's favourite pastor, Rev. Wright, and audio tapes of the collected writings and bombings of Bill Ayers, with a few rants from Van Jones should be thrown in for good measure.”
mancoff replied on Oct 23, 2009 at 17:36:38
“What you commend Fox for bringing to our attention was covered closely by other news media in a factual manner with honest reporting. Only Fox kept up the drama and propoganda by adding their innuendo's, suppositions not backed up by facts and enhanced the relationship between Ayers and Obama which they could never prove. They could only find negatives on Obama when they used the "guilt by association" gambit. Fox could find nothing and they tried for months and months andmonths in Obama's actions, words, or deeds when they were trying to link him to others. That's the whole point here. Fox creates and embellishes news where they choose to and ignores news when they want to depending on their agenda. They completely ignored Sarah Palin's close association with the secessionists in Alaska who advocate seceding from the Union. They didn't even mention it. Didn't fit in to their agenda and those who only listen to Fox never heard a thing about it?”

What Olympia Snowe's Support Could Mean

“It's hard to believe anyone supports the measures before Congress now on healthcare. Why didn't someone start with a perfect healthcare plan, and then look at starting to get there. Romer: "We're Pursuing Every Legal Means" To Undo AIG Bonuses
Commented Mar 15, 2009 at 19:37:34 in Politics
“Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell are the last people who should be outraged at what AIG does or does not do re bonuses. According to facts, the AIG bonuses ranged from $1,000 to $6.5 million. On the other hand, the average earmark was $13 million per Congressma n/woman/se nator. That is a figure which should disgust. Obama is disingenuous in the extreme, and thinks we are incredibly stupid, by allowing earmarks. No Congressman is worth $13 million.
What do you suppose a Congressman gets for delivering $13 million to his/her district or state. Finder's fees? You think? Sweetheart deals on their mortgages? Some already do. Waivers on laws regarding their holdings? Some already do. But they probably want more. They know what Samuel Gompers said when asked what Labor wanted.
Of course, Gompers was talking about people who worked for a living. All Congress does is take raises after helping to cause a financial catastrophe and putting thousands of Americans out of work. Did they do it alone? No, but at least that is the one bipartisan thing Congress and the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell can take credit for. They allowed a disaster to happen on their watch, and then they put their hands in our pockets yet again.
The President should be ashamed for not calling them on it, but then he is the product of the Illinois legislature and the U.S. Senate and he may not know right from wrong, either.”

Journey To The Center Of Hillary Clinton's Mind: "Why Would I Drop Out Before Barack Obama Is Assassinated?"
Commented May 25, 2008 at 12:58:12 in Politics
“The flap about Senator Clinton's remarks about the assassination of Robert Kennedy should, I hope, teach her not to pounce so delightedly on gaffes from her many enemies. To give her the benefit of the doubt, it is unlikely she is hoping for someone to rid her of Senator Obama. She has repeatedly distorted the meaning of others' statements, and is very quick to point the finger. Perhaps she will stick to laying out what she would do as President with such problems as her husband's presence, and the list of supporters to the Clinton Foundation and Library. The aura of sleaze and corruption from her husband's time in The White House would have to be disspelled before she can be elected president and governing effectively. Even by Congressional standards, the profits made by the Clintons for their Administration are staggering.”
