Scott Fenstermaker, Lawyer For 9/11 Defendant, May Be Bringing His Own Politics To The Case
Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 22:19:58 in Politics
“I'm afraid that the republicans are right on this issue. Those people don't deserve the same rights as the general civilian public. The regular criminals are subject to jurisdiction of law for example they can be arrested easily enough by police and can be brought to justice. Those terrorists are not under the easy jurisdiction of any law and need covert and military operations to bring them to justice. Those terrorists never gave the innocent civilians any chance to avoid the horrible death why on earth then should they have more rights than the innocent victims? what those people are entitled for is sweft and fair justice that can be adminstered by a military court that is fair and that can look into each individual case and seperate the guilty from the innocent.
Regarding the torture issue, it should be secondary and can be handled fairly by the rule of law. A court ruling to pay compensation for torture that eventually end up compensating the families of the victims of the terrorist act will be fair. The families of the victims should easily be able to get an award for financial compensation that bankrupt those terrorists and forclose on all their known financial assets.”

“you are arguing for the SAME thing as a civil court versus a military one which, according to your post, provides the exact same justice
What you fail to realize is that having a military trial and subsequent execution elevates the terrorists to martyr status whereas a civil court will lower them to common criminal status--a HUGE difference and WAAAAYYYY more effective in deterring terrorists from seeking glory”

I mean basically you're hearing all the most traumatic and disturbing things that people saw and did when they abroad, and you're hearing it over and over and over.
And like it or not a lot of soldiers have bigoted beliefs, and there's also people who almost rely on them to cope with what they have to do. I've heard soldiers say some pretty anti-muslim stuff (in private) so it wouldn't surprise me if an army psychiatrist got to hear all this stuff but in an insanely concentrated dose. Combined with his existing beliefs it probably made this almost inevitable.”

“The dynamics of the corrupted constitutional foundation needs to be changed. If a wooden house is built on a wooden foundation has been overrun with termite infestation from top to bottom, what should the people owners of the house do?
1) Terminate the termite infestation colonies and nests.
2) Shore up the foundation with reinforced bulwark supports (constitutional amendments).
3) If the foundation is infested and damaged beyond repair, then the house would have to be abandoned to the termites and the people owners move on, or the damaged house would have to be torn down and rebuilt from foundation up.
The Frankenstein multinational corporations are the termites. They have let their termite armies of lobbyists on KStreet overrun the upperhouse and lowerhouse of the people's house. The legislative superstructure (the body of existing legislations on the books) and infrastructure (the legislative House+Senate rules, precedents and customs) are near totally eaten through. The SupremeCourt (the reinforcing bulwark for the foundation and infrastructure) is currently considering legal coup d'etat to overturn legal precedents, in order to allow corporations full unlimited rights to finance Congressional elections.
The people should ask how and whether this termite infested wooden house can or should be saved.”

If it is legal to steal tax payers don't we have a bigger problem than economic meltdown in the law that need to be fixed before we start shoveling money to the thieves. And since your reaction to those thefts is to say let us move forward are you willing to treat the petty thieves like bank robbers and tax cheats in main street with the same generosity and ask for their release? Are you going to extend the generosity to the innocent citizens who get penalized in their taxes for honest mistakes?
What about your plan to shovel money into hedge fund managers “ friends of your economic advisers and campaign fund contributors” to buy toxic assets? How much money you will allow them to make on the back of tax payers?”
