“Correct but they have little to no restrictions. They can roam the country at will. They can meet with anyone they wish. They can call and talk to anyone they wish.
Basically, they have a year of vacation to recharge and recuperate before personally returning to the fight.”

“It's obvious you know nothing about terrorists, and the mid-east wars. Before a vacation while their mates are fighting, would be unheard-of. Unless their fear of being blown-up, occupies their mind. You need to stop thinking that faux tells the truth.”

“This is what they were told, Leave Qatar before that year, you get blow'd up.And they know, it can happen.”

“And I suppose you don't think they have been tagged, right. We can be, in this side of the world, launch a missile, from a drone, and put it at the front door, or any vehicle seat, THEY ARE NO THREAT, and if you recall, Al-Qaeda leaders have been removed from the field, and parts of them have been buried, the same way, where now, the remaining few, don't even appear at any of their training bases. That's why their activities have slowed down.”
“What bothers me is that five top level commanders were returned to fight again. I wonder how many troops were injured or killed capturing these bad actors ? I really believe we will end up regretting that decision a few years from now.”

“These top-level guys, are NOT out of Qatar yet. Who-ever said that is NOT telling the truth. Besides, we know where-ever they go. The reich has not told you the truth, or the facts, purely political bias. Those guys are NO-THREAT.”
It's interesting that no soldier has come forward to challenge what they are saying.”

“Right. With all that's being said about the man and his family right now, I'm quite sure another soldier would say, "heck yeah, the war's ridiculous, wish I would have walked away!"
Yes, unit members are talking. I would expect them to be angry at Bergdahl; they stayed to fight, he walked away. But to suggest --- what? --- that nobody would have been killed in the province had he not walked away? That every death happened because of him? Really? Maybe they were at a certain place because of being down a man or looking for him (maybe not). Maybe had they been in another place, you know, fighting because it's a war and all, the current angry soldiers might have been the ones killed (maybe not).
The written reports don't link the deaths to the search. And they record additional air surveillance because of the search. Maybe fewer died because of that surveillance (maybe not). Lots of questions not being answered by the words of pundits and political talking points.
And don't forget swift-boating when you listen to fellow soldiers.
By the time a military tribunal determines as close to possible what happened and what, if anything, the guy's guilty of, all this "heated debate" will be long over and the truth will be, alas, anti-climactic.”
“I was in the Army 104th Engineers HQ Battalion. S1 and also S4 from 1965 thru 1970. As you may know S1 deals with all personal files. I worked directly for the Bird Colonel and a CW -3 in HQ HQ S1. We had two known deserters during my tours. Perfunctory search's were made for both. In the end, I filled out the final status paperwork as Unknown - Presumed Dead (vs Deserter).”

“I was U.S. Navy, we had no deserters. The boat came back from Nam, Sept. 1968, and went back, Nov. 1972. Presumed dead, is different, than republiCANT senators, (Ayotte,in May Mccain in Feb)asking the President, to bring that man home before we pulled out. Just 2-weeks ago Rogers was informed. NO circumstances, when know people are held, do we leave anyone in the field. MIA's, Presumed dead, have no known locations, but the Hanoi-Hilton, was widely known.”
“This may interest you. Sure looks like a SNAFU decision to me to put five high level Taliban Commanders back in the Command Bunker HQ
As far a Bergdahl -- He maybe in a world of hurt -- of his own making -- if the charges are correct. Surely doesn't look like a good decision to release these Taliban Commanders for one alleged deserter.
“What did you think was going to happen to the Gitmo prisoners when the US left Afghanistan? Hint: what does the US do with POWs after a war? So....they got out early.
Do you honestly think the five released won't be tracked constantly? That maybe that tracking would lead to other Bad Guys and their operations? IF the Taliban would trust/care about men isolated for 12 years.
You have little faith in the US military and Intelligence Operations if you do believe that they retain POWs after the war as if they were the Viet Cong and that they're dumb enough to drop off the Bad Guys and forget about them.
But please, if Obama did it, it must be wrong. As Bergdahl may need treatment for PTSD, there are many here who need treatment for ODS.”
“By the way, he was not a POW. The Taliban is not a State. POW's are covered by the Geneva Convention which is an agreement between States. The Taliban is a Terrorist Organization, not a State and thus the rules and status labels of the Geneva Convention do not apply.
It looks like this boy is a deserter -- as a minimum -- and maybe even a traitor. In any event, he has some explaining to do.
