“"Where is the young generation?" asks Imam Shamsi Ali. "They are moving away, and they are not coming back."

In what is supposed to be an article about a "problem", the quoted lines above make this an optimistic article. The same goes for all of the young Christians leaving their churches. It's all just progress to me.”

“Brick_Flair is actually right. If you are a bible-believing Christian, homosexuality is indeed a sin. So if we all have to be tolerant of religion, we have to be tolerant of such views.

Kinda sucks, doesn't it?”

Keri22421 on Dec 7, 2013 at 19:09:31

ChristianLady1 on Dec 7, 2013 at 18:29:30

“No, the Bible does not say that being gay is a sin.
Certain verses of the Bible have been taken out of context and twisted to say that. They actually did not mean that at all, as anyone who has studied the sociopolitical and historic contexts knows.”

johnorr8 on Dec 7, 2013 at 18:27:59

“If one has a license to transact business, then one agrees to abide by the laws of the issuing state. You cannot refuse to serve atheists.”

Brick Flair on Dec 7, 2013 at 18:25:54

“Honestly, I really don't like how we lump homosexuality in its own taboo corner when there are so many other aspects of human nature that is also not "Biblically Sound." My brother is gay. I can't imagine him not being able to buy a cake because some guy doesn't like the way he is going to display that cake. I myself am a sinner. Being a Christian is not easy. It requires humility and balance. I might not do or say everything right but I try to treat people as I want to be treated regardless if I agree with what they are doing or not.”

“I'm definitely not religious or homophobic, but I don't think I really like this ruling. Business owners do need to be allowed to make some decisions without interference. Besides, if you're gay, do you really want a cake from this place? I think we're all better off knowing what that bakery is all about. Personally, I would avoid them.”

AJayne on Dec 7, 2013 at 20:36:36

“No reason to not avoid them while simultaneously insisting they follow all laws. The primary decision any business owner makes without interference is to obtain (or not) a business license. After that, all decisions must be made within the boundaries of that license. As long as that happens, no one will interfere. Simple.”

When it's cold and snowy, seeing a lit Christmas tree in a someone's window can make you feel warm. I actually miss scraping ice off of my windshield. I really do. “So by that logic we take away things from people that they use irresponsibly or legally? Constitutionality of that thinking aside, if we went down that road there wouldn't be too many things available for use in the US. Perhaps we should simply hold each other more accountable for our actions.”

“I do believe that pharmaceutical companies really hate the idea of legalized marijuana. But I'm not sure I buy into the notion that alcohol or tobacco companies are really so opposed. Tobacco companies and growers could just switch crops. Alcohol companies have deep pockets. They could buy a few farms. It's not like corn or soy beans. You don't need millions of acres to grow a bunch of great weed. If weed becomes legal at the federal level, I'll bet there will be a big rush by those companies to dominate the market. I just hope they will allow people to grow small amounts (like home brewing beer).”

Feenicks007 on Dec 3, 2013 at 07:35:04

“The big tobacco companies have already purchased land in the Emerald triangle (a section in California where "Kush" is grown) in expectation of marijuana being federally legalized. Within a couple of years of it being legal, they'll be flooding the market with their product, which will probably be laced with dozens of chemicals just like cigarettes. They'll lower the THC levels and increase the addicting factors and mass produce a low grade product.

It's the local farmers who will supply people with a quality product. Much like local farms vs. Supermarkets, where you see mass produced vegetables.”

Steamboater on Dec 3, 2013 at 05:10:51

“Marijuana is cheap to grow and should be very cheap to sell. The pharma companies just can' t make enough money on it and really, you could just grow it at home and not have to buy it at all. That's why biig pharma is against legalization. It Marijuana helps with medical conditions that that big pharma would lose out on financially.

Blue3actual on Dec 3, 2013 at 05:06:09

“You know big tobacco would be on this like a stoner trying to get some munchies if weed got legalized in the US. Surprised they aren't dumping money at Congress to make this happen.”

As an adult, and understanding the influence a Pope has in the world, I am very positively surprised and impressed with Pope Francis. I won't be converting to Catholicism any time soon, but I see the Pope as representing a type of religious person I could very comfortably co-exist and cooperate with to make the world a better place for all of us.”
