Memo to Warren Buffett: Put Down the Pom-Poms and Tell Us the Truth About the Economy

“Warren Buffet is overjoyed by the amount of profit his investments made this time around. His drum beating is understandable.”

“He's not a Bernie Madoff, Warren made his money investing in the making of companies earlier in his life, like Lee Iococa did with the auto industry.
Hey Warren, if your interested hit me up at: whatsonyourmind1.nett" I'm Political Kim and I've been advertising live on the Internet Worldwide, which is where WE want to take it, right?
It will make you feel good to do "some good again"
That's where this economy and American Grassroots are right now.
Lifting the smaller boats also in rural and urban areas, to end the suffering of unemployment.

“Leaving the non bailed out banks free to do what they wish with regard to compensation and bonuses while dictating terms to bailed out banks, will only create lopsided disenchantment and may ruin the very purpose of bailing out. It is necessary to enforce uniform regulations to all banks without succumbing to the threats of wall street dictators, and do what is right for the country as a whole. It is ridiculous to allow the wall street to loot as much as they could and after that lion share, distribute the paltry remaining to the share holders. Government must seriously consider public financing of their political campaign funds in stead of succumbing to the demands of special interest groups. The point is that eveything is linked demanding an overall reform in stead of piece meal approach. That requires real guts and without that 'Change' is a vain cry.”

“Years ago we may have had a federal government that represented the people, but now that has all been eliminated. Our government has allowed itself to be taken over by special interests. Our vote is a mere formality. The "good of the people" no longer is a requirement for our Congressional representatives or our President. Instead, we now see that our government is more interested in the "good of the corporations".”

The President's Speech
Commented Sep 09, 2009 at 22:52:44 in Politics
“Obama gave an outstanding speech. He touched on all aspects relevant to health care reform, made a coherent argument and explained how a comprehensive package can reduce cost and make it self reliant without causing adverse effect on the public finance. Republican response was to undercut, and generate doubt and see that no reform will come to fruition.”

“I was a 3rd generation Republican. My parents, brother, sister, husband, brother-in-law -- ALL of us Republicans for years until we found Obama. A thinker. A statesman. Someone who our country can be proud of -- especially tonight.
The Republicans I know (and I'm from Southwest Ohio -- I know a FEW Republicans!) are becoming more and more unreasonable, self-centered, and childish. But I hope this speech reaches out to the moderates and reminds them of what makes this country so great. We CAN solve enormous problems if we work together. Most men and women of Congress are smart, energetic, and committed. But some have lost their way. I think this speech may have put a few back on track. I pray so...”

Building A New Economy: What Obama's Next Big Speech Should Be

“Manufacturing base in USA has to be rebuilt while side by side establishing a good consumer base. That could be possible only by curtailing cheap imports which again is possible only by renegotiaing international trade agreements and dumping the free trade practices now in vouge. We can only export our products when made cheaper over here which will not be possible when our labor and other establishment cost is high which to some extent can be obviated by multifold increase in domestic consumption of the products made within the country. How can that be possible without protectionism and following trade wars? While we must act right for our national interests, we have to be prepared for any eventuality and sacrifice.”
tsherr replied on Sep 09, 2009 at 18:49:32
“Schoolmaster, you should check out the labor costs in Germany which exports the highest dollar value of any nation in the world. The factory wages paid there are much higer than here in the U.S.. Germany is not alone in this regard. The American worker gets paid less than the workers of many other first world nations, which sorry to say is a group in which we will shortly be excluded from at the rate at which we are declining. I'm tired of hearing about overpaid American workers. It's just another lie that gullible people accept without question.”

“This seems to be only an example in which mergers are manipulated to personally benefit both the parties and may be other parties which are supposed to oversee such activity. There could be other mergers too. While it is wrong to speculate wrongdoing without solid basis, extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary probe and corrective action. That Obama administration is not effectively handling that aspect, the root cause of the financial collapse, is because of the difficiency of a democratic system where rigorous action can not be quick enough and also possibly because the players responsible for such collapse might have shrouded to be the important advisors.”

Trust: The Reason Bank Nationalization is Essential
Commented Feb 23, 2009 at 12:38:17 in Business
“Let the Government start its own bank in stead of nationalizing banks holding share holder interest. If the private banks declare bankruptcy, the share holders loose their investment. Government intervention, if at all, must protect the share holder investment but not expedite the collapse or loss.”
santamonica39 replied on Feb 23, 2009 at 13:40:38
“why does government have to protect the share holder investment? When you buy stock in a company there is RISK. That's capitalism. Taxpapyers do not need to proect shareholders. The only thing government is obligated to protect are the depositors.”

“In India we have state bank of India and so many other banks which are privately owned. In stead of nationalizing the existing banks thereby punishing the share holders, government can start their own bank to obviate the kind of problems illustrated in the article. To have a parrallel bank like that would protect from the total collapse of banking sytem in our country.”
Trust: The Reason Bank Nationalization is Essential
Commented Feb 23, 2009 at 10:33:02 in Business
“I don't see the reason why the share holders should loose their money when the banks are nationalized. If the present rules are such, they must be altered. At the most, they can freeze the trnsactions till the banks become viable and profitable at which time, the banks wll be privatized with new regulations in place. It is rather irresponsible, if the share holders are forced to loose their investment in the name of nationalizing the banks. As the edifice of the financial system is crumbling, it may be worthwhile to change the rules to protect the public interest including that of the share holders.”
santamonica39 replied on Feb 23, 2009 at 13:26:28
“the shareholders will lose money and they should (as opposed to taxpayers). When you invest there is risk. And the investments they made are now worthless - the banks created "assets" out of thin air. It should be unacceptable to every American to expect taxpayers to bail out investors when their wall street investments tank. It is unfortunate that Wall Street investors may lose huge investments, but the alternative - taxpayers bailing them out - is far worse. We are far far past the time when we could have developed a solution that would have been "good" for everyone. This is going to be painful, but the pain needs to reside with those who made investments where risk was understood.”
wrightj replied on Feb 23, 2009 at 11:37:52
“As a shareholder you are investing (gambling) with hopes it will produce dividends for you, but if it fails you are SOL. These banks have failed miserably, thus they should be nationalized. The government buys it up for a penny a share and that is probably more than they are worth. That transaction buys out all shareholders and the possiblity of any dividends. What is great about nationalization is when the banks become solvent again (someday) then the profits made from the banks revert back to the US treasury to pay off our debts and pay for our social programs and running the government in general. That is how our forefathers intended the banking system to be run, but Woodrow Wilson outsourced those duties to the FED (privately owned) in 1913 and now all those profits go to the greedy SOBS who own it rather than back to the government. This is also why we have an income tax, to pay for the debt we owe the FED (private owners) on the money they made and loaned us. We did not have an income tax until the FED came into being. We need to put all money creation and loan origination back in the hands of the government so all the profits go back to the government and perhaps we could reduce or even eliminate the income tax altogether. This is how our forefathers planned it to be in the constitution.”

The Internet and the Death of Rovian Politics
Commented Oct 22, 2008 at 07:12:26 in Politics
“Internet has been very useful in collecting campaign funds and propagating political agenda. This has to be taken further. The voters must be enabled to vote through a secure website . All the eligible voters must be given an ID which can be used only once on the website. The voter will be given a print out of who he voted for. We have to get rid of the conventional and electronic voting machines which are more a cause for worry for smooth democratic voting. It is for the voter to get educated in the use of website and safeguard his ID before exercising his vote. The election commission must be in a position to render adequate facilities in protected public arenas. This would not only render fair elections but also reduce the cost of political campaigns. Once on the website, paper trail is not a problem. All steps will have to be taken in maintaining the privacy of the voter before and after voting.”
