“A National exchange and Public option are not synonymous but nice try.”

“Dear gun nut Bush-ie, the public option was proposed precisely to give a cross state standard option to people. Without a government offered cross state option to establish a base, it would be a race to the bottom across state lines for insurance providers to establish themselves, and offerings, in states with the least consumer protections.”

“In 1994 I read an article in the Daily News about the worst Housing Projects in New York as defined by Homicides. The worst one was in East NewYork, Brooklyn and had 125 homicides that year. Some of the other ones that made the top 10 were in neighborhoods that are today filled with restaurants, coffee shops, and other successful businesses. There are so many awesome neighborhoods in NYC now that you would not have walked around safely in the early 90s pre Giuliani. I have worked for over 20 years in all 5 boroughs and I can say that NYC Did a 180 in a short term because of policies of Rudy, Bloomburg, Kelly, etc. Liberals who are commenting on this story with glee haven't had the pleasure of getting their windshield spit cleaned 20 times a day.”

“Do that yourself. While many have gotten cancellation notices... those cancellations don't happen for another two months and in every single case, a cheaper and better policy is available to them.
I suppose if you want to just sit there and complain, you're free to do that as well.
My policy got cancelled because of a minor requirement change... they're automatically changing me to a new plan that's going to cost me $30 less per month and cover just a bit more. I guess you can say I "lost" my plan but I don't have to do anything and I'm going to save $360 next year over this year.
“It's no myth. The way the program is designed to work in a nutshell is this:
1. Everyone has minimum insurance requirements for coverage including the benefits you mentioned.
2. Insurance companies will make a big profit on young healthy males as they will be forced to pay for services they will never require.
3. Insurance company's profits are legally capped, therefore the profits received from 2. Above will be used to subsidize the more expensive to insure: women, those with pre-existing conditions, etc.
If you don't get a lot of young healthy males buying stuff they don't need then the program fails.”

“Finding enough young healthy males is where Obamacare is going to fall short. Especially without a website that can offer those guys some (slight) measure of assurance that they're not getting ripped off.”
“As a man I am glad my old policy got cancelled. I am now going to be covered for mammograms, birth control, neonatal, and maternity care. Sure I have to pay a few grand a year more but the peace of mind that comes with knowing I will be covered should I become the first man ever to become pregnant is priceless. I had no idea the disservice I was receiving from my provider. Thank you Obama and Democrats for once again realizing that I am not capable of making decisions that are in my own best interest and intervening in my life accordingly.”

“I watched the c-span hearing where some lady gov of the right persuasion made that argument. It sounded d*umb then. Still does. Good luck with getting ala carte coverage. We can't even get ala carte cable channels. All sorts of complicated reasons that we sheeple couldn't understand.”

“Ok, since you don't know how insurace works, let me me tell you. Insurance is not like ordering a meal where you tell them what you want and don't want. Insurance is like social security, you throw in with everyone else; you help to cover a woman mamograms and she helps cover your prostate exams. This is not socilism, this how insurannce works.”
