“Saying "historic obstuctionism" is not a general statement its as accurate as I can be without listing every single bill that has been blocked, delayed or basically obstructed. Its a known fact. Maybe you missed it in the GOP white noise. Obstruction is the entire goal of the GOP. Historic obstuction is what we have seen from the GOP since Obama took office. Making Obama a one termer was the goal of the GOP. If you need more of an explanation, then you are not worth the effort to type this. You are willfully ignorant.”
“My point was for the children in general. For a child to be adopted, thats a life changing event for them. Regardless of who adopted them. They now have a loving home where they were chosen. That could be for an infant or a teen. There life (for the vast majority) are now in a better place and have a shot at a good life with caring parents.”
“Thats great Liz. You can belive in "traditional" marriage. And so can everyone who likes the idea. You can all marry people and divorce. No one wants to stop that. But your beliefs should not be legislated on others. We do not live in a theocracy. Marriage is not "owned" by the church or any religion. In the US, marriage is a civil issue, not a religious one. People can get married by a judge, a notary, a ship captain, an Elvis impersonator and so on. Its also not about procreation. The eldely can marry, people who choose not to have children also marry. Then there are those who cannot have children, but they're allowed to marry. So, thats out the window.
This is about equal treatment under the law, you know, that stuff in the US Constitution. There are about 1200 rights and obligations that come with the word MARRIAGE in this country, and none of them are granted by a church.
No one wants to force a church to perform any ceremony it doesn't want to, they never have been in the past.
Marriage equality has zero effect on people who are not gay. It has no effect on peoples children or other peoples mariage.”

“"Marriage equality has zero effect on people who are not gay. It has no effect on peoples children or other peoples marriage."~ Well said and absolutely true.”
“I think when the Pope speaks, he is only to be listened to by people who consider themselves Catholic. For the rest of us, he is just another religious leader who means nothing to me.
As far as Rush.... Who really thinks he is worth listening to? He has ONE job, to get ratings so the parent company can make more. And for those who listen to him for "entertainment", how is it entertaining to listen to lies that make you angry?”
“The law effects NO ONE but gay people who want to marry. They want the legal recognitions of next of kin, survivorship, be able to make legal and medical decisions and about 1200 other rights and obligations granted with the term marriage.
No church has to be any part of it. In this country, marriage is a civil issue, not a religious one. A church only performs a ceremory.
For anyone to spend a an ounce of energy fighting it is doing so for anti-gay, bigoted reasons. There is no other reason. Your religious beliefs are not effected in the least. The US is not now nor has it ever been a theocracy.”

“Seriously, what makes straight people think they have any say in the matter? Such arrogance.”
“I knew when I was young. I had to hide it. But I always said I was straight, then bi, now full on gay. When friction was no longer able to get it done. You can only fake it for so long. I knew, but was more afraid to "come out". A decision I regret now. 20/20 hinsdight.
I hope the kid is happy and people who know and love him wil have to deal with it. Its his life, not theirs.”
“I clicked on the link to the original story and got more information. I think most people were bothered because they were bumped to get a college basketball team to a game, one that was played the next night. I have a life and a business. I fly home the morning the day before I need to be somewhere, just incase something happens.”
“I didn't think Christmas picked up any steam until Coke invented the chubby Santa for their ads.
I'm about done with it. I hate shopping normally, let alone having to do it with a bunch of other surly people. The lights, the tree are a pain in the butt. I do like getting together with friends (family is all far away) for the holiday parties.
Thankfully, the internet saved me and I can do a lot from my desk or home. But, we have limited who we get for now and usually just buy each other stuff for the house.”
“I don't fly much. Maybe once or twice a year. We used to fly Delta, but have since switched to JetBlue. We have had our shares of delays. We had one delay with JetBlue, and while were were getting in our seats, they sent an email to us telling us that we have a voucher to fly anywhere they fly in the lower 48. With Delta, I was bumped a twice without volunteering, and once I volunteered when I flew alone. I really cant stand the process of flying anymore and just want it over.”
