“For some reason this moderator seems to not let me post my comments. The DW article offers no hope to people who put Obama in the oval office. It is clear that progressives must organize and not let the Obama team take us for granted. But perhaps he has no spine and we have no option but to let the system beat us?”

“The Taliban were part of the blow-back to the US intervention in Afghanistan. 9/11 was part of the blow back to decades of US support for Israel's wars and occupation of Palestine. As long as the US continues to intervene in other countries for oil or control of commerce, there will be more 9/11 attempts. Osama ben Laden spelled out his scenario for destroying the US economically by sucking us into wars, and G.W.B took us straight into the Pit that Osama hoped we would dig ourselves into. Now there are no good options left. I suggest you read the boos and articles by Ahmed Raschid and Afghani journalist.”

“All this hyperventilation about the Berlin Wall when in these times we have Israel and the US have been building ugly walls--one in occupied Palestine, the other on the US Mexican Border-- based on Fear, arrogance and apartheid by those who have power and wish to dominate their neighbors. The Mexicans can justly say that the border lands and all the way up to California were stolen from them and of course the Palestinians can say the same about Israel stealing the whole of Palestine.”

Dangerous Developments in East Jerusalem
Commented Aug 18, 2009 at 01:05:56 in World
“Israel has, with US connivance, violated more than 68 UN resolutions against taking over Palestinians' land, not to mention the many almost unanimous UN resolutions that were vetoed by the US. For more than 40 years Israel has expanded settlements while giving lip service to Peace. Jews around the world should realize that Israel has become a disgrace to all humane values that Jews used to be associated with by emulating the lebensraum and other ethnic cleansing and genocidal policies against Palestinians that were used by the Nazis against Jews. Israel may get its way as long as it has US support but Israel is accumulating a lot of bad KARMA. It may take a while--even hundreds of years, but sooner or later a new Exodus of the Europeans who forced their way into Palestine in 1948, is inevitable ..”

“Ahhhh, the UN? The UN and it's 47 Muslim-majority nation members who work hard to block any resolutions concerning Human Rights violations their own member nations have commited . You really think anyone with a minimal knowledge of world affairs or History believes that anything going on in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is worst than what has happened or is happening in Africa, Asia and the Middle-East (where OIC members are located)? Go take a look at casualties and costs of regional conflicts in those regions for the past 60 years. Go check out the names of the members of the OIC and their records. Please, name one member of the OIC whose "humane values" are better than Israel's. If bad Karma had anything to do with anything, the aboslute majority of these nations would have ceased to exist long ago.”

Sorry, Not Enough House Votes To Pass Health Care Bill Without a Public Option
Commented Aug 17, 2009 at 17:17:49 in Politics
“Obama is too willing to cave in when in fact he could push back. His base is going to desert him as he continues on this giving in to Blue Dogs, insurance companies, the Israel Lobby , FISA weakening, Goldman Sachs et all. All the talk about Change meant nothing The Democrats just lost me as a supporter. Any health care bill that is signed by congress will be meaningless. As for his Secretary of Health, Secretary of Treasury and Chief Economic Advisor, the minute they were announced as his nominees, I knew the whole OBAMA show was a charade. I feel sad for the country which has been a dying Elephant for sometime with all its handlers behaving like Carrion, only caring about picking up their own bits of meat until they pick the bones clean..”

“Dr. Weil's Self-Healing Newsletter is worth subscribing to. I do and find it makes a lot of sense.
Too many drugs are a "one-size-fits-all" based test on populations and may not be right, either in dosage or in applicability, to a particular individual. As a 20 year recurrent-cancer survivor who chose to take an "alternative" route to treating myself, I am happy that I did not follow standard advice of several oncologists but informed myself of alternatives through personal investigation and writing to people outside the US. If we would take responsibility for our own health and not just take on faith whatever the medical profession tells us--most of them are too busy to keep up with new developments, we would be more healthy as a nation.”

The Diary: Traveling to Jerusalem
Commented Jul 31, 2009 at 00:09:10 in World
“I recommend reading the book Jerusalem 1913 by Amy Dockser Marcus, a former Wall Street Journal reporter. It is a very balanced and good account of a time in the city when Jews, Christians and Arabs lived mostly peacefully and how the Zionist push into Palestine led to the conflict. That is why the book is subtitled The Origins of the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Too many folks twist history and ignore the people who lived in and took care of that land for centuries. Also you may want to look up the website and books of Israel Shamir, a Russian Poet who was a Jew and served in the Israeli army but now writes and speaks out on what has been happening in Palestine- Israel.for a long time.”

“I've read Gawande's article and it has nothing to do with what we are discussing. The issue is very simple: does the scientific and actuarial data show that preventive cares saves money in the aggregate and the answer is no.
Expanding access to healthcare is an incredibly important goal and it's not going to happen if we are not honest about the fact that it will cost money. Pretending that preventive care can pay for it is foolish and helps no one.”

“Wozzeck: Recall that Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq was also fully supported by Hilary Clinton, Joe Biden, Tom Daschle and a whole lot of other Democrats. Obama supported the illegal(under UN charter) attacks by Israel on Syria and other of its neighboring countries and keeps talking of "all options are on the table" for Iran. So he is also willing to attack Iran for enriching Uranium-which Iran is entitled to do--without any hard proof that Iran is making Atomic weapons. That is just like Bush w.r.t. Iraq”

“To those who say "who is going to pay for this?" let us note: We have paid for immoral wars, weapons sales, S&L scandals (Reagan era), banking scandals, ripoff tax cuts for the wealthy, social security surpluses for years that have been stolen to pay for wars, earmarks, millionaire tax cuts and giveaways to Israel, Egypt etc. So what is wrong with redirecting our taxpayer payments to our own citrizens in this country? Obama should offer war bonds, infrastructure bonds etc. with 5% interest so those US citizens who have wealth will invest in our own country and keep the money at home instead of sending it offshore. That is what was done in earlier times. Why not now, or must we beg foreign countries?”

Attack on Gaza: As Usual, U.S. Media (And Most Liberals) Silent -- As Israeli Newspaper Raises Doubts
Commented Dec 28, 2008 at 19:10:50 in Media
“When there was a cease fire between Hamas and Israel, it was Israel that targeted Palestinian leaders in Gaza and Killed one, yet Hamas did not respond. Then Israel continued targeting additional "militants" and members of an Islamic Jihad group started firing rockets. Israel has no desire for peace as demonstrated by ignoring any commitments made about settlements, or land grabs using the wall and "security" excuses and imprisoning 1.5 million people in the Gaza concentration camp. So all your putting the blame on Hamas is no more than the standard Israeli PR used to justify the occupation and confinement. Which Israel deserves to exist asks a comment on Haaretz? and the answer given is not the current one but one that sincerely works for Peace. Obama will do what all US Politicians do --He will wimp out on this and blame the victims of Israeli occupation.”
