There was a lot of White Supremacy stuff associated with this too.

And just a quick note on Coburn....He practiced at the same hospital my husband did for a year before the Senate told him to stop. My husband attended a meeting where Coburn was highly ticked because they mandated that all Drug Reps go through the Pharmacy director and they were no longer allowed on the floor of the hospital giving samples and gifts to doctors, nurses, etc. He was a big baby and tried to circumvent the rule by asking the reps to bring his 'stuff' to his office.”

“As to being productive members of society, could be you just don't know about it.

I've been trickled down upon by each Republican President since Reagan. I may now be unemployable at my age with the shortage of jobs being what it is. Being unemployed for 15 of the past 21 months really stinks, but they're not likely to hire a 60 year old guy with a college degree and 40 years experience in chemistry, computers and writing to flip hamburgers. Not that I could stand for the length of time called for in a job like that. Since I broke my leg, I need something of a desk job. Unfortunately I'm still too young for Social Security and Medicare.

If I can't get better than short term temp jobs, what would the market be for others?”

Grada3784 replied on Sep 18, 2009 at 20:54:31

“Ok. Let's get something straight. I have genuine respect for Native Americans. But I see the reality.
Period. Stop calling me a 'hater'. I take care of Native Americans everyday.

They have FREE HEALTH CARE, which is wonderful. But these hospitals are scatter through the state.
Example: A girl is pregnant. She does all her pre-natal care at the Native American facility (they do refer to it as the 'Indian Hospital'). But she wants to be close to her home to have the baby. The girl chooses to wait until she is in labor, and goes to a local hospital, where they have to take her. She delivers and doesn't pay the facility or the doctor. But here is the catch...NEITHER DOES THE NATION. They are famous for sticking the bill with the state facilities or private hospitals and doctors. Simply because they didn't want to go the Nation's hospital.
So, yeah, I get a little bitter about it.
It isn't that I don't think Native Americans deserve the priviledges they are given, I believe EVERY American deserves the same if they can't afford it.
But I see hard working families who can't....and then I see Native American families living in free homes and being provided food, health care and clothing (yes, they get a card loaded with money to buy clothes on) and they don't have jobs because they don't need jobs.
Im not saying all, but the majority I know do exactly this.”

And I'm sorry but the Native Americans today, couldn't give a crap less about their ancestry. You and care more than they do.”

Graywolf48 replied on Sep 18, 2009 at 14:09:35

“The fact that they "couldn't give a crap less" about their own ancestry is all part of the racial and cultural hatred they've dealt with for centuries. Even in World War II Navajo "wind talkers" were maligned and ridiculed by their fellow Marines, even though they helped save the lives of thousands of white soldiers. They "couldn't give a crap less" about their ancestry because it's been perverted and stolen from them. My mother is a Lenne Lanapi Indian who shamefully denied her heritage until her late 70's because of ridicule. Now she is beginning to reconnect and take pride in her heritage. As a child I remember asking my father a question only to be told to "go ask Cochise" referring to my mother. I suppose he thought it was humorous, but it left a bad impression. I know little to nothing of my Native American culture, but I do know American history and how our society has always treated non-whites. Even today we still have a long way to go.”

It was insane!
She is a straight A student, is in excellerated classes and nearly freaked out because the pressure the school put on this test!
When they are learning just the necessities to pass those tests, little else seems to matter.
