“I called my congressman, a democrat in a rural area, Dan Boren. His office said he is against the bill. I asked why and his office said that it would raise taxes and hurt small business.
I live in (unfortunately) rural redneck oklahoma where there are alot of democrats with conservative minds. He said his constituants think it will raise their taxes. The average income in Boren's district is under 40,000.
This guy is a joke to...and a democrat at that.
I asked if he even read the bill or was just pandering to the rednecks.
I assured him that there were tax incentives for small business and that I doubt the people he represents would see any increase in their taxes. I also reminded him that over 30% were without coverage of ANY kind.
Typical politician....has the next election in mind instead of the people he is supposed to be serving.”

And when she screws up, she can just summon the Department of Law and they will fix everything. OMG! Easy!

Not only is Palin wrong for the country, but if her followers honestly think she is able enough to run the country, they would lead us headlong into the abyss that would trash this country beyond recognition and recovery!”

“"When everyone is laughing at you and making fun of you...."

Palin has brought the "laughing at" and "making fun" onto herself. The interviews where she can't name a newspaper she reads, doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is, tells an elementary student that the VP in in control of the Senate and can make policy changes, doesn't really know what a VP does.....All these are examples of Sarah Palin, going before the media and thinking she can wink her way through politics like it is a beauty contest.
She isn't a quitter, but quits.
I am a Democrat. We have been pummelled with Fox News pundits telling the public that Republicans are the ones to fix everything for the past 8 years. Most of us shake our heads wondering how a cheerleader who sold Sami Sosa could be smarter than a Kennedy or a Clinton. But you had your chances Republicans and you fudged it up pretty bad.
In an answer to "we can do better" than the last 8 years, you present the American public with Sarah Palin. Who is Bush in a skirt and is more irritating than a urinary tract infection.
She fascinates us because she is literally too unqualified to manage a Wal-Mart.
It's like Republicans can't see through the smoke and mirrors and bible thumping to realize that the person poised to run this country needs to be educated, articulate and able to pass a 8th grade goverment quiz.”

The Judgment on Vaccines Is In???

Commented Apr 22, 2009 at 12:46:26 in Living

“I am a mother of four children. None of them have gotten immunizations. My husband is a PharmD. and agrees that the verdict is NOT IN on vaccine safety.

In 2003, I took my daughter to a local hospital because she had suffered a deep cut that I thought required stiches. In triage, the nurse said, "is she up on her vaccines?" I said, "She does not get them". The nurse proceeded to tell me that she had cause to call the Department of Human Services and have me investigated for neglect.
Then, everytime I get my children enrolled in school, I am told they will not be allowed to come unless they get immunized. When they realize it is NOT a law and that children DO NOT have to be vaccinated, they tell me that my kids will be sent home in case of a Measles outbreak, etc. Duh. I say, "so if everyone is immunized and there is an outbreak of Measles, how well did those vaccines work?"
It is frustrating. But vaccines are HUGE money to Pharmaceutical companies. The state gives them millions for "free" vaccine programs for children.”

“I heard Sarah Palin had a speech ready. Was she going to conceed too???
LOL

Yes. John McCain did the right thing. But his campaign was horribly ran. Starting with choosing Palin ...well, choosing Palin was a biggie.

I was amazed by the world's reaction to the election. The world REALLY does look to us. We don't get involved in foreign elections or appointments. They are celebrating in Kenya for two days.
The world was ravished by the Bush policies. They felt his impact everywhere.
Wow. It is something you "know" but you can't really see it until you see the impact of the people around the world. Their world changed because we did the right thing. Their world changed because Toot told a little boy that he could be anything he wanted to be. The world changed because a woman yelled "Fire it up!" and "Ready to go!". The world changed cause I voted for Barack Obama.”

“I just received a text message from a phone number I do not recognize. It said, "Due to long lines tomorrow, all Obama voters are asked to vote on Wednesday. Thank you. Please forward to everyone"
I realize this is just someone being an a-hole, but I called the number and asked the person's name and asked him if he knew the punishment for tampering with a federal election?
He said, "sorry you can't take a joke".
So I emailed the phone number, the text message to the local TV station and the Oklahoma State Board of Elections.
Why does this low-life, sneaky, cheating b-s always come at the hands of REPUBLICANS!!!!!!!!!!
Btw, the number is 580-310-2756 should you wish to send a text message tomorrow night that says "PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA THANKS FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT!"”

“CONTINUED...
For someone who publicly supports Obama, I am amazed at how his message over the last 21 months has been lost on you. In case you have not been listing, the message is... It's time to STOP THE DIVISIVE NATURE of our politics...that we are NOT BLUE or RED states, but the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.... that OUT OF MANY, WE ARE ONE....that we are all going to have to WORK TOGETHER to get out of the mess we are in. To judge and condem this man's character, post his number online and INVITE countless numbers of people to call and harrass him ON BEHALF OF BARACK OBAMA is not the way to support President Elect Obama...and it is not the way to heal our country. This man's harm to you, if any, was unintentional....can YOU say the same? I remind you that our National Symbol is the Eagle...and it takes both a right wing and a left wing for him to fly.”

“I was sent the same message by the same person. You fail to disclose that this message was sent to you by mistake. Your cell phone number used to belong to someone who this person knows well. His intent was to joke around with his closest friends (Democrats, like me, included) & his family & have a little fun. My response was to immediately let him know I had already cast my vote via absentee ballot just to make sure I nullified his vote for McCain. We had a good laugh & that was all it amounted to. It was no 'mass mailing' or attempt to 'tamper with a federal election' as you, yourself admit by stating, "I realize this is just someone being an a-hole" I have known this man for 15 yrs & there is nothing "low-life, sneaky, or cheating" about his character at all. The only "b-s" here was on YOUR PART. To respond as you have when this was explained to you when you called him goes beyond "concerned citizen". CONTINUED ON NEXT REPLY”

I think is rather telling that we have to look to comedians for real news. Did you hear Letterman ask McCain questions? He asked better questions than most JOURNALISTS.
I think Dave would rip Palin to shreds....
But if I hear McCain say one more time about her taking on the big oil in Alaska and how she negotiated that pipeline which doesn't even exist and due to contract issues doesn't even have to be built...Im gonna lose it.
What makes Sarah Palin an energy expert that is going to save all our consumption issues????”

“I thought it was perfectly executed. You are a class act.
She lacked humility, class and personality. Palin was cold and detached.
This was her chance to be funny, make fun of herself, but that would need to start with an acknowledgement of her shortcomings, which she pretends do not exist!
Did you hear her say to Loren that the press conference depiction was not the way one of her press conferences WOULD go? Not, how they have GONE or how they WENT...but how they would go....
Just a reminder of how protected she is.
But the McGruber skits were hilarious.
Redo the 3am call skits. I have one of John McCain getting the 3am call and he runs downstairs gets into horse and buggy, (cause he is old you know) and runs down to the local pharmacy where he has to pull Cindy out of the drive thru window slot.
Redo the 3am call with Obama answering the phone and it is Bill Clinton on the other end calling to see if he could use the Oval Office for a few minutes. I love it when Hammond plays Clinton...omg.”

“First, thank you for your service.
Don't you love it when they question the patriotism of Obama because of a Lapel Flag Pin, when McCain didn't wear one during his RNC acceptance speech? He is speaking right now and not wearing one!!!

Cindy McCain can't share the stage with Michelle Obama. Personally, I think CIndy is getting brave as long as the campaign goes on. She was really quiet and behind the scenes for a while, I think she was waiting to see if the Democrats would bring up the drug abuses and felony prescription fraud she committed. Now, I think she thinks she is safe enough to start causing friction. But as a the First Lady she would be a total embarassment.

Did you watch after the debate when the Obamas were shaking hands and taking pictures? Did you know that C-Span ran that for about 20 minutes after the debates were over? The Obamas stayed and signed autographs, took pictures, and shook almost everyone's hands. It was inspiring and amazing. The McCains had left the building about 6 minutes after the debates were concluded. CIndy walked around with her hands behind her back with the bodylanguage of "okay, approach me, but I am not touching any of you....."
Im sure she Purell'ed herself after it was over..”

“Well, kudos for injecting the wisdom of Spinal Tap into the election....

Maybe one thing that needs to be injected into this economy talk is the Bankruptcy Bill. I wonder how many of these foreclosures that the Republicans say are attributed to minority and preditory lending, are the stepchildren of the healthcare crisis?

I personally know several people who have lost their homes to foreclosure because of catastrophic illness and skyrocketing healthcare costs. Hospitals are suing and winning because people don't have bankruptcy protection. Under previous laws, someone could file bankruptcy and a judge could restructure payments to mortgages and/or healthcare providers to keep people in their homes, fed and safe.

Totally off the subject, but I was doing some reading from Germany and could you just imagine Sarah Palin "don't cha know"-in Merkel??? Merkel would order her immediately removed from her sight, saying, "I miss the creepy guy who massaged my shoulders..."”

“I listened to Washington Journal this morning....
A woman from Florida said that she liked Obama's trade policy but thought she would vote for McCain cause she liked his wife Cindy. She said that Cindy McCain has led an exemplary life. Have we forgotten the drug fraud and theft? Cindy only owned up theiving from her own charitible organization after the investigation started. But hubby John got her off the charges and she was "treated".
And then another caller from Louisiana said Barrack Obama served on the board of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. The host of the show said, "Really?". And the woman said "yes, sir he sure did". And then she went on to say that the democrats have been in control of congress for a "very long time" and they are to blame for the credit crisis.
So, hello people, these are your Republican voters.
Let me ask you, what good does putting up information on a democratic or Obama website do other than just energize the democratic base? I think the democrats need to be educating REPUBLICANS. We can't depend on Faux news to do it for us.
So, put these ads on TV during Jerry Springer. Or put ads/documentary clips on TV during a Nascar race or an episode of Pimp my Doublewide. This is the only way the REAL message is going to reach those people who drive their lawnmowers to the grocery store and think Obama is a Muslim.”
