“No evil coming from me. Having kids impacts everybody else in this planet by way of carbon legacy and respective tapping unto limited resources. There are so many orphan children already here on this planet, too bad people don't consider them before further impacting our planet.”

“You have a valid point but I'm assuming that folks prefer to see a bit of themselves in their kids.
But supposing one parent is an idiot, what then? What if they are both idiots?
The kid doesn't stand a chance in this world, through no fault of his/her own. Sad, isn't it?”

“I think that it is true that many of the Democrats in Congress are exposing themselves for the corporate mouthpieces they in fact are, but it also seems that part of the frustration with Obama is that he seems either unwilling or unable to serve as an effective leader of his own party. Indeed, although we technically have a two party system, and have maintained it in part through arguments about the confusion and complexities of multi-party systems, we seem in effect to have two and a half parties at least: old-fashioned Democrats, old-fashioned Republicans, and corporate prostitutes who wear the uniforms of both parties, but take their marching orders not from their party leaders or even from their constituents (remember them?) but from lobbying groups and their corporate bosses.”

Is Your Digestive System Making You Sick?

“You can eliminate them all at once and then add back one at a time to check for symptoms, this helps decipher whether you have multiple food sensitivities.”

“Co-sign.
Eliminate all the likely culprits, then after two weeks, add them back in one at a time and journal your symptoms. Really give it a shot with each one, for example, after not eating any corn for several weeks, have corn torillas for lunch, boiled corn for lunch, corn-on-the-cob for dinner. Watch for all symptoms for three or four days before moving on to adding back the next suspect food.
Personally, I would do this under the direction of a good naturopathic physician who is on-board with and/or experience with elimination diets. It's a big hassle, so you want to do it right to be sure you're not missing an allergen.”

“There are some arguments the pros and cons of soy milk and soy products. Do a search on it. I was surprised. Basically, many say soy is not meant to be consumed in large quantities. A small amount is fine. (not sure what exactly is a large amount and a small amt) It's hard to digest for some people. Here's a quote I grabbed from one of the web sites:
Soy contains a high level of phytoestrogen, which may affect the production of sperm in men, as well as decrease the amount of testoterone in their body. The isoflavones found in soy foods also contribute to the development of thyroid disorders, breast cancer and leukemia.
If it's not one thing, it's another...”

Are Diabetes And Insulin Resistance Really Reversible?
Commented Aug 09, 2009 at 00:34:26 in Living
“As an RD, I counsel patients and teach classes on how to manage diabetes and on preventing diabetes for those who are pre-diabetic. I also counsel on other disorders. I am not sure that we can say T2 diabetes is reversible but perhaps it's just symantics. T2 diabetes can be controlled where blood sugars may become normalized. Many accomplish this by way of lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress management, weight management) only, and others by a combination of improved lifestyle and medications. I see it day in and day out in the patients I see.
Dr. Hyman, the report on increased risk of developing T2DM at FBS 87, if possible could you provide me the reference. As our indicators become more conservative, I always wonder whether PharMA has sponsored these studies to use the findings to push durgs earlier. Another MD wrote about this in Huffpost relative to cholesterol meds.”
