The thing I always think about regarding this subject, is the eternal, perpetual brainwashing we all go through hearing about all the "new diseases" that drug makers are pushing on us 24/7 in mainstream media in order to sell their Snake Oils.
Snake oil for just about anything, and often these "products" are not thoroughly tested and result in recalls, and then here come the commercials for the appropriate attorney representation and class action lawsuits for those who have suffered the reactions from taking untested concoctions.
It's a cycle of sham and shame.
People need to stop buying into these destructive messages, the crux of which is "YOU'RE SICK! BUY OUR PRODUCT, FAST!!!"
If everyone would do as I taught my daughter to do, by example and discussion, and laugh off these stupid commercials, that laughter in itself would be a huge boon to better health, put the shysters out of business and head us all in a better direction regarding our individual and collective well-being.

“I've thought many times of buy health "insurance". But it's the repeating themes and stories like Ms. Hansen that bring me to a very short stop!
I can barely afford the premiums and THEN the deductibles, but I COULD do it. I just won't because it's useless. The Denials, baby. NO WAY will I pay out that kind of money to be told in a time of great need, "NO!".
My boyfriend is a Native American. He is afforded, by treaty, free health care for life. And it works like a well oiled machine. He gets a toothache (or broken ankle or in need of a surgical repair to a past injury) and he goes to the Native Health Services hospital/clinic of his choice, show them his enrollment card and gets seen, treated and free meds. There MAY be a wait of a few weeks if it's not a dire emergency, but that's the worst thing that ever happens. The rest is just smoooooth.
So please be informed here and now that there IS a system in place that actually works, and by the sounds of it, works better than the VA or any health "insurance" I've every heard of or seen.
ALL Americans should have such a treaty with our government. It's a valid useful model THAT WORKS!
Meanwhile, blond little me will continue with my OWN health plan: an apple a day, a shot of Whiskey now and then.
