“Obama reminds me of British Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness) in "Bridge on the River Kwai" who builds the "perfect" bridge for the enemy and we are U.S. Navy Cmdr. Shears (William Holden) and company who are forced into the ironic and challenging dilemma of having to destroy the former ally’s warped work of art.
I fear that Obama will end up like Col. Nicholson one day, who upon witnessing Shears d y ing at his feet, finally comes to his senses and exclaims: “What have I done!”
I hope this analogy makes clear the insanity that lies in any moral defense of war. Obama built the perfect morally-ambiguous bridge to nowhere with his brilliant defense for war forcing us to challenge his conscience, oppose him and demolish his cleverly-crafted case.”

“Obama is wrong to go out of his way to make a brilliant yet distorted case for war by exploiting the Nobel Peace Prize and the timeliness of the prestigious event and by using the life-struggle and words of MLK, who was diametrically opposed to any form of vi0lence in the achievement of peace, just to make peace with his own conscience and gain universal approval for his war. In doing so with so much “sophistication”, he puts us in the unenviable and almost unwinnable position of having to oppose him and discredit and demolish his cleverly-worded argument.
He cannot seriously believe that our acquiescence will make his preposterous theory, that if war equals peace it therefore must be just or that if war is just it will equal peace any truer. His premise defies all reason, humanity and conscious morality. War is a b east with many disguises: Commun ism, fa scism, fundamentalism etc. If we feed this b east it will only mutate into another form and come back begging for more lives and destruction and we will never be free of it! Obama’s “Nobel” closing argument for war is far too calculating for it not to raise serious doubt and offend the conscience of all who understand the true meaning of peace.

“Think of all the evil we overcame murdering thousands of evil native americans. Then we had to murder all the runaways slaves, the ingrates. Of course those evil Spanish had an empire we wanted. Never forget all the evil blacks, chinese and mexicans we had to lynch. Look for evil all over the world but avoid mirrors at any cost. Vampires are invisible in the mirror. Want to see the face of evil-then look into a mirror. Want to see the face of an evil people, then look closely at photographs taken at the many lynchings america is so famous for. If you encounter an evil wedding party don't hesitate to bomb away. The Bible warned of worshiping the anti-Christ who would present himself as a peace maker and savior of humanity. Just kill the rabble and declare it peace. How quickly we forget our great leader's silence while children were murdered in Gaza with american weapons of peace. If we can just civilize the Afghani's to accept our weapons and do our killing it will have all been for peace!”

Yes it is "also" our responsibility to effect change, but Obama doesn't have to make such a brilliant yet distorted case for war by exploiting the Nobel Peace Prize and that timely, prestigious moment and use the achievements and words of MLK who was diametrically opposed to any form of vi0lence to achieve peace. In doing so with so much eloquence, he puts us in the almost unwinnable position of having to discredit him and demolish his cleverly-worded argument. The President I believe is not without the will to make the big changes we need but saddled with a Congress and members of his party that are scared stiff to support his agenda he has to modify his objectives.
I am reminded constantly of the Conservatives' battle to outlaw abortion. After years of trying to overturn it in one fell swoop and failing, they are now content to do so one item at a time and are succeeding. Patience might still be our best ally.”

“What does it matter if Obama is doing one thing at gtmo for public consumption so he can keep doing the opposite at Bagram prison in secret?
Things are being done more hypocritically, and that's all the change I see. His decision to escalate in Afghanistan was guided by his flip-flop on the Iraq surge: "I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated. I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.” and "I think that there's no doubt that the vi0lence is down."

The first thing Obama did as President was appoint Gates, Petraeus, Mullen and McChrystal -- all Bush loyalists and you want us to believe he's not furthering a Neocon agenda??? Think again!”

Obama said from the get go that We were the people We have been waiting for. He can't do it alone. He needs the liberals to band together and create the movement. Without it he is forced to play politics.. . which he can do.. and actually get some left leaning legislation passed because he has a poker face.. but it's not going to be our ideal. No where close.
The liberals need to stop crying that they sent him some money and that should be good enough.
