“Thank you for this post Arianna. Yes, these guys ought to be fried. On a different note, I recently had to look up this famous phrase...this is from Wfor those of you historically inclined...:) ( I do like the reference to "Madame Déficit"...)
"Let them eat cake..." is a translation of "qu'ils mangent de la brioche." ... brioche is actually a type of highly enriched bread... While typically attributed to Marie Antoinette, (she was to have uttered it during a famine when alerted that people were suffering due to widespread bread shortages) the original source is not settled among historians. English historian Antonia Fraser, states: "[Let them eat cake] was said 100 years before her by Marie-Therese, the wife of Louis XIV. It was a callous and ignorant statement and she [Marie Antoinette] was neither."
...From the beginning of his reign, Louis XVI was seen as ineffective, uninformed and naive, while Marie Antoinette's frivolity and extravagance were seen as factors that worsened France's economic recession. ..the public was so convinced that it was Antoinette who had single-handedly ruined France's finances that they gave her the nickname "Madame Déficit."
In Confessions, in 1767, Rousseau stated: "At length I recollected the thoughtless saying of a great princess, who, on being informed that the country people had no bread, replied, "Then let them eat pastry!"
Marie Antoinette arrived at Versailles from Austria in 1770... Whoever the "great princess" was, it was not Marie Antoinette."”

What's Next for Iceland: Ensuring a Fair Election in May

“Kria, I am looking at the above picture of the protests - the protesters sure don't look like "some thugs" - and are you suggesting that Icelandic news media are lying about what is going on in the country? Yesterday I saw on one of them that 6,000 had gathered to protest, peacefully, the story noted, in downtown Reykjavik.
As for "Iceland is burning" being "nonsense" - a fire was started in front of the parliament house - pictures of which were distributed all over the world - so ... "burning"... Looks also like Icelanders are "burning" with anger... When you look at Icelandic news sites, this seems to be the "burning" issue...
As for Watergate/Deep throat reference - what has the only way this information will get out is if someone within the government or the banks divulges it. (oh, and one of Iceland's "public servants" the Minister of Commerce, just resigned, saying he is one of those responsible for the collapse).”

“Hi, Arianna, this is not exactly on topic, but I cannot believe this - I'm watching MSNBC, Obama speech in Green Bay, and here comes Andrea Mitchell, Alan Greenspan's WIFE, pontificating on Obama's reactions to this crisis that her husband for Chrissake helped create! Is it just me who thinks it's highly inappropriate that she's on the air blathering about this? (Not to mention that she's not a good reporter).”

“A New York Times reader in response to Frank Rich´s Sunday column on the McCain/Palin shotgun marriage is right on the money: "Why do these points only appear on the op-ed page? Why does the NY Times in its news articles keep kowtowing to the holy untouchable brand image of McCain as "maverick," "bipartisan," "honorable" without ever really examining what the man has to offer as president?
Why has the Times spent the last several days with fluff pieces on Sarah Palin, starting with the praises over her speech at the convention, instead of real investigative journalism?
Where is the journalism? Publishing a newspaper has become a matter of amplifying the parties' talking points like mindless servant robots, on demand. Where are the points of fact that voters need to know?”

“Indeed. Unless John McCain is now running as an INDEPENDANT, he is still a Republican, with Republicans all around him.
His choice for a VP is merely a distraction for all those over-the-hill Republicans, who apparently haven't seen a woman under 50 up close for a while.
Palin embodies all the worst traits of the right wing, Intolerance, Ignorance, meanness and transparent sarcasm.
She is not a representative of women, or men who want CHANGE.
She is a representative of the REPUBLICANS, you know, the party that brought you the last eight years.
You want four, or even eight more years of that???
Then by all means, vote for McCain and his "lipsticked" whatever farm animal she compared herself to.”

We have 5 kids (he 2, I one from a former marriage, together we have 2 kids, 6 and 7) We always take time for it - don´t wait for the "mood" or the time to present it self - sometimes the sex is long and passionate, sometimes just a quickie. Either way - we love every minute of it!”

(Doesn't sound likely) give me a call! I really think that's the whole idea. Sex is, among other things, a way of having fun together. Unfortunately, I think a lot of couples feel that it has to be this heavy "romantic" thing complete with dinner, candles, mood music, etc., etc., etc. And who's got time for that? If more people looked at it as ALSO a lot of the time just a "romp in the sack," fewer marriages would break up, I think. It's also this false "romantic" ideal of sex that causes a lot of people to look elsewhere than their marriage for it.”

Hillary's Electabilty -- Bill's Procilivity

“You Americans are just weird. Is it because you have so little of your own that you constantly have to obsess about the sex lives of others? Bill Clinton is a sexy guy, I'd do him anytime. Who the heck knows what arrangements the Clintons have in their marriage. Their marriage and sex life is nobody's business.”
sky2evan replied on Jan 25, 2008 at 02:10:35
“Actually, marriage & sex life say a lot about character, and is EVERYBODY'S business if that person is running for President of Everybody in America.
Let's a person likes S&M. Or sex with children. That person still might be a great President - but that's highly unlikely.
Now, take the case of Bill Clinton. He's married, but he still plays around. His wife chooses to stay with him - probably because of the Clinton brand name. What does that say about their character?
If Bill Clinton were single and he was still playing around like a bachelor... then of course, there's nothing "wrong" with that. Depends on what kind of "playing" he's doing. It still says a lot about his character.

“I AM an American Skyfish and I Agree with you 100%! Its like the American people cannot gome to terms with the fact that a president has a sex life at all..Maybe thats why we elect so many old men to the office? Its easier to see them as sexless old men. Bill and Hillary are the sexiest prez and first lady we have had since JFK. Who KNOWS what their marital agreements are? They are none of our business! But believe me the majority of middle America could care less who their prez boinks. Its the republicans who seem to have the most issue with the Clintons sex lives..Jealousy maybe? If people are so worried about our presidents sex lives, maybe we should just vote for Mcain who is too old to have any interest in it anyway?”

The Clintons are such bad news-----they should get out and go home and see if they left any self-respect there....but I doubt it
