Eutisha Rennix, Unborn Baby Die After Being Ignored By EMTs On Coffee Break
Commented Dec 21, 2009 at 17:48:42 in New York
“As a former firefighter, EMT I and EMT II (Paramedic), I simply can't imagine any firefighter or medic doing something like this. On numerous occasions I and many other firefighter/medics I knew routinely risked our own safety to help others in need while off duty. We had received excellent training at cost to the public and we felt obliged to help any time needed, whether on duty or otherwise. If there is no strange or unimaginable circumstance to this story these guys should be fired immediately.”

“So, they got past the Senate with a bill the people don't want, does much for the insurance industry and nothing for the people it was originally intended to help and actually makes criminals of those who can't possibly afford a 'forced' buy-in. The Republicans couldn't have done better if they had actually participated.
I and my wife were both big Obama supporters and if she were alive today I'm sure she would be as disappointed as I am. This makes at least five campaign promises Mr Obama made that he has back-slid from and both he and the rest of the Dems will pay in 2010 and 2012 because of their spinelessness.”

“Making criminals of the wrong people, right?
The problem is there is no public insurance option and private insurance companies have proven there is no law they won't break for a buck.
So, the most probable thing is the only provision that will save any lives is Bernie Sanders' clinics.
In other countries where private companies have been used successfully, profit has been outlawed and the companies are so hyper-regulated that the government is involved in their day to day operation. Don't see those provisions here.
We could send in the National Guard to literally hold g u n s to their heads, but oh wait, they are still fighting wars were supposed to get out of.
We could add an "Comply or D i e" clause.
If the insurance companies fail to comply in any way, their doors will be closed and their operation seized by the people they failed to serve.
In that way, insurance companies themselves would give us public health care b/c criminality is their nature like the scorpion of fable.”

“That sums it up.
The only minor point is that there are more than 5 broken pledges.
Short list:
no lobbyists serving in high administration positions
government transparency and public involvement in the legislative process (e.g., bills to posted for a period of public comment)
dump the "shoddy and dangerous" Patriot Act
work to end DOMA (the Obama DOJ continues to bend over backwards to defend it, putting more energy, time, and money into defending it than it does in influencing Congress to end it)
work to end DADT (still no stop loss order, and not a word about how it pains him--it does not--to have fired 566, and counting, good service people since he took office)
end the unconstitutional policy of indefinite detention
health insurance must not be mandated”

Don't confuse him with facts and don't ever expect him to change his affiliation no matter how much the party screws him or his family. His vote in Florida has offset his three children's votes. Think about it HE LOVES HIS Children yet his willingness to cling to a party that could care less about him or his family trumps his own family. How can anyone even attempt to confuse such people with facts?”

However, the willfully ignorant find it convenient to equate the two so they can scare people. Sometimes I feel as though we are headed for another Civil War. “"Nobody knows sacrifice like John McCain does" ~Rick Davis
In light of the hundreds of other Vietnam era POWs, many of whom spent more time as prisoners and received harsher treatment than McCain, the tens of thousands of families who lost a loved one and the hundreds of thousands wounded (and this in just the Vietnam conflict I'm talking about), this statement is obscene.
John McCain has always stood on the shoulders of better men (his father and grand father, for example) to reach his next level of incompetence. He has always led a privileged life in every respect and knows nothing of honor, respect or compassion. His only goal in life is, and always has been, self aggrandizement.”
