"wilsonveteran" is about as "Democratic" as he is sane.
Did you go off of your medication again, sir? It can be dangerous to do that.
Meanwhile, you're late for your next Fox "News" show, where you'll hear more of your anti "government" garbage.
Talk about obtuse.”

Nate Silver: Progressives Are Crazy to Oppose the Senate Health Care Bill
Commented Dec 16, 2009 at 09:59:06 in Politics
“Let's assume Silver is right---which he usually is with his numbers and projections. However, most of us know that the "health insurance" offered by big health insurance companies is generally worthless. They'll gladly take your monthly premium but they WON'T PAY if and when you get sick and actually need health care. And they write their policies to make sure that you won't beat the in a courtroom, 99% of the time.
Forcing all Americans to buy a private, for-profit policy from an insurance company won't guarantee anything except more revenue for those companies. But our biggest problem---getting quality, affordable health care for all citizens---will still be far from solved.
I'm still on the fence over whether or not I believe the Senate bill should be killed. It might be better to go back and do this through the budget reconciliation process.”

“Problem is..... Silver is only comparing the current draft of the bill.... to doing absolutely nothing !
That is not the comparison which should be made. His article is very manipulative.
....the current version should be compared to the version which was on the table a week ago...or even 3 days ago. Or compared to the House version.
THEN you will see how badly the majority of Americans are gonna get screwed by this.....”

Historians will look back and wonder why governments once imprisoned people for using certain substances. When you step back and see it objectively, it is pretty bizarre.
One day this will be all very clear to everyone.”

Back in the 70s when I was in high school in the South Bay, then-Governor Ronald Reagan came to our school for a press conference, and several of the student leadership were in the room along with teachers, the principals, etc. I can't remember what his announcement was, and a few reporters asked questions. Then it was question time for the students. I raised my hand, and the reporters gestured urgently for the cameras to turn to me, this clean-cut looking, long-blonde-haired attractive (I know *now*) 16yo young woman with a musical voice. As the lights and cameras turned to me, the warmth, the brightness, the anticipatory expectation held enormous, palpable power... and I asked Reagan if he would consider legalizing marijuana. Reagan made a disgusted face, the reporters groaned, and the plug got pulled on the cameras and lights which faded rapidly, the heat dissipatin g... end of the press conference. “Good timing on the part of Aetna, announcing this on this particular week.
Let's hope the media drives this home and that it focuses Congress on just how crucial a Public Option really is.
Private, for-profit health insurance companies have one goal and one goal only: MAXIMIZE OUR PROFITS. Sick people stand in the way of that, so they'll do everything they can to a) Not cover you and b) refuse to pay when you need medical care.
If you want to trust your health care coverage to a private, for-profit firm, be my guest. Just don't stand in the way of we the majority who want a strong Public Option to compete with these vultures.”

When people say things like, "We have to finish the job over there!" do they actually know what they're talking about? Have they thought it out? Can they define the terms "job" and "finish"?
If people stand back and view this objectively, they'll have to see the craziness of this idea that terrorists can't plot against you unless they have a "Host Country" in Afghanistan. I wish that were true. It's not. Plots can be hashed anywhere, at any time.
When will people realize the folly of "winning" in Afghanistan?”

How Sarah Palin Might Win The White House

“Lots of "mights" in your analysis. I don't buy it. It's not likely. Your assumption is that the groups that come to the polls are ones that normally vote Republican.
In the last three elections, the Republicans received fewer votes than the Democrats. In the one election they won, it was the lowest percentage for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson.
I agree that we should always be wary, and guarded, and make sure we get out there and work to turn out supporters in each and every election, however. And one should always campaign aggressively, no matter how low the odds of the opposition winning.
But make no mistake about it: The overwhelming majority of voters do not like or trust Sarah Palin. Her odds are worse then those confronting Barry Goldwater in 1964.”

“Sarah Palin can count on a rock-solid 26% of the electorate. They love her!
This is essentially the same 26% that stuck with George W. Bush to the very bitter end.
The same 26% that believes climate change is a "hoax", created by liberals.
The same 26% that take the Bible literally and use it to justify hatred and violence against gay people.
The same 26% that worships Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
The same 26% that believes what they hear on Fox "News" Network.
The same 26% that believes evolution can't possibly be real.
The same 26% that is against any and all health care reforms, or any attempts to extend health care coverage to all citizens.
The same 26% that dislikes Blacks and Latinos, or anyone with an non-European name who has dark skin. (Unless they're far-right, like Clarence Thomas or Bobby Jindal.)
The same 26% that will support any war at any time for any reason. They just like the idea of making war on non-Americans.
In other words, this 26% are the confused, obtuse, obsessed types. The majority of Americans are repelled by them and their strange beliefs.
And this 26%---who would crawl on their bellies for Sarah "The Grifter" Palin---are not enough to win elections. In fact, they scare away many more voters than they attract.
So how do you get beyond the 26% and get to 51% of the vote with a candidate like Palin?”

The type of supporters who believe that Palin can do no wrong and tells no lies, no matter what she says.... these are the type of supporters that are already chomping at the bit to vote in 2012, and will early... and, if they can, often. Now, add to that a voter turnout of only 64%... and that the other high voter turn-out demographics are the type to vote for what-ever (R) is put in front of them... and that presidential re-election years typically have lower voter turn out for incumbent supporters ... A perfect storm might arise.”

How great it would be if Costco announced, "We are no longer going to purchase and sell any products containing High Fructose Corn Syrup or Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil."
Of course, in the short-term, it would probably mean a massive reduction in gross revenue for Costco.
Oh well. I guess we'll just have to rely on people becoming educated and aware of what they're putting into their bodies if we want to impact the quality of our food.”

Please, Mr. President. Please. Do the right thing. Stand with average working Americans. And stand with the people who brought you to the White House, not with those who actively worked against you.”
Come on, Mr. President! We didn't work our bottoms off last year to have you drag your feet on this thing.
Barack, I gave you money I didn't have. I blogged until my fingers cramped. I called people in swing states. I talked you up continually. I stood in line to see you. I worked, and worked and worked to help elect you, and put my credibility at stake with family, friends and co-workers.
I didn't do all of this for you to support a "trigger".
Please, Mr. President. Please. Do the right thing. Stand with average working Americans. And stand with the people who brought you to the White House, not with those who actively worked against you.”

“Interesting. Maybe Michele wants to explain what she was doing on MSNBC that day, telling Chris Matthews why she believed there should be an investigation of members of Congress to determine if they're truly loyal to America?”

“Superb. Every journalism major should be required to view this. Now, THIS is called a news interview.
Shepard Smith, to his great credit, is showing some true independence, professionalism and journalistic integrity. He's obviously done his homework.
It makes you think, are his days numbered at Fox "News"? Don't worry, Shepard. As opposed to virtually every one of your fellow employees, you'll be able to find a job later, at a REAL news organization. You've proven your ability to do real journalism, as opposed the miscreants, hacks, wannabees, and blowhards, posing as "journalists" and "broadcasters" who are on Murdoch's payroll.”
