“Also changing the subject. How many states does Chicago have? I'll tell you what, I'll play along. If "Chicago" were the United States with different state gun laws, Chicago should all close the varying gunshow loopholes via federal law. Like the law Republicans just blocked to increase firearm manufacturer profits to make the rest of us less safe.”

“I hope they pass all this just to prove to people that these laws don't work without being enforces and the mind of criminals being changed.”
“That's not research that's topic changing. There were 4 school shootings in 2012. I'm not interested in going back in time and preventing any of them. I'm interested in closing the gun show loophole so criminals have to play by the same rules as law-abiding citizens - in all states.”
“"The government" enforces it every day in every sporting goods and gun store in the country. "The government" can't enforce a law that doesn't exist in gun shows. What's the research you would have me do? There's a gun show loophole. There just is. And blaming "The government" is a cop out and helps bad guys get guns.”

“Gun shows in some states do, some don't... now you are getting into state rights dialog. Do you think the guns that were used in Newtown were not legally bought? Were they bought at a gun show? Were they bought by the one who did the killing? These are all question, we all need to think about.”
“In your opinion. Even the most well-read and intellectual 2nd Amendment legal scholars will make allowance for the fact that the framers never envisioned a world where any known hardened criminal or terrorist could buy a 30-round assault rifle in less time than it takes the average person to buy a happy meal at the drive thru.
If you have no problem with background checks for the rest of us, you shouldn't hypocritically defend a loophole to that requirement that completely obviates the rest of that law.”
Darwin B on May 1, 2013 at 08:26:02
“There are already background checks. The government can't enforce the law. Why do people ignorantly argue this point? Do your research.”
“So, if it didn't exist in 1790 legislation of it is prohibited? Does that apply to everything or just weapons of maximum lethality? Of course, it doesn't apply to everything - or anything - for that matter. Except guns. To gun nuts.”
“Yeah, that's it. People are all excited because they call lethal 30-round semi-automatic killing machines by the wrong name... Oye.”

“I am sorry but you don't know what you are talking about. The AR-15 and the M-16 Military assault rifle both shoot the .223 round. You can put a small 10 round, or less, magazine in them or you can get magazines that hold many rounds. The normal magazine for each holds 30 rounds.
The AR-15 rifle is used by many deer and small game hunters because they are light weight, and kick very little when they are shot. They are one of the most used target rifles of the day because they are accurate and cheap to shoot.
People are ignoring the fact that this young man did not buy the weapons that he used in the school that day. They belonged to his mother and he used one of them on her before he left for the school. SO, since both of them are dead we will never know the reason for him doing the things that he did that day.”
“By all means. Arm the militia. And allow the citizens to own 3 round per minute muzzle loaders.”
TheUSConstitution on Apr 30, 2013 at 22:00:56
“"And allow the citizens to own 3 round per minute muzzle loaders." = THESE WORDS ARE NOT IN OUR CONSTITUTION. IN FACT IT DOESN'T STATE WHAT FIREARMS "WE THE PEOPLE" ARE ABLE TO HAVE....... THEY ALL SHOULD BE LEGAL REALLY.”

“Sooo, when are you going to give up your modern forms of communication?”
“It really does appear that way. In fact, it appears, they're putting massive corporate gun manufacturer profits ahead of innocent american lives and using an antiquated constitutional interpretation as a shallow pretext for perpetual inaction.”
“Guns in the home vastly increase the risk of death by gun in the home. It's a statistical fact. And the issue isn't whether you should have your right to live with dangerous guns in your home and risk the safety of your family. It's whether a criminal or terrorist should wait to go to a gun show to buy a gun they can't buy at the local sporting goods store and then put the rest of us at greater risk because we have a loophole big enough to drive a dumptruck through.”
“Her mother was shot at work with an assault rifle by a crazy person and the woman in front of her voted against gun control. What would you have her focus on, the economy?”
cherokee1934 on Apr 30, 2013 at 21:47:27
“I really really wish that people would stop referring to these rifles as assault rifle's.
As they are just a semi-automatic version of the military assault rifle. There are millions of semi-automatic hunting rifles in this country that shoot just as many shots and just as fast as the AR-15. The fact that the AR-15 looks kind of like the true military assault rifle, the M-16, is causing people that do not know to get all excited.”
