Let the kids believe in Santa and as they get a little wiser have a reasonably nice, honest reason that we use for Santa for the magic of it.. They are learning to give to others, think nicely about others (and themselves) and love the getting. You can work that into something rather nice if you try before the child is totally disallusioned. Use your religious teachings if you have some of the loving ones. Eventually they will ask anyway..so don't wait until they outright ask..watch for their doubts. Let them live this fantasy until they are 6 or 7. And besides I am 71 and I believe everything that is good about Santa. Everything. I love this time of year for that. My faith journey is part of it too. (however, I can separate Santa/Trees and all the trappings from the stable and baby and faith.) Then bring in watching out for the ones who don't have.”
