My Message of Redemption for Brit Hume

Commented Jan 03, 2010 at 17:28:14 in Media

“I think that was Weiner's last point. You can do anything and fundy christians will excuse you. Judgement is not by us and nobody knows...really. Great article and he penned it correctly, Hume was doing the right job in the beginning (for whatever reason) and now works for the very types that Anderson was against. Maybe it is the fame of the lies and negatives that Hume likes.”

“Nice article. I think we put our own frustrations on what Obama said and saw it as truth. He has disappointed..but he is not there alone, is he? His standoffishness in lieu of Congress is abit disappointing but there are THREE parts of government for a reason. Well ..two...oops maybe one.
The one thing that stands out to me is "The dark wave coming" for I think tis true. And that is worth shedding the one issue agenda we hold, getting out of our own playbox and looking at the wider picture and working for that. If it means no to dems then sobeit. However, we will pay those consequences also.”

“I agree with you, I don't watch any of them anymore and I am finding it harder to read about them. I stopped watching Russert the last two years of his broadcasting..he was bent on slamming Clinton to smitherens and he was unfair. But mostly I didn't think he asked hard questions of the Thugs nor did he make them answer the questions.”

“That she thought that Huckabee would be gracious and honest and protect her was her first mistake. Secondly to call the people in the audience common sense folk who are solution oriented means that Jackson herself is part of that crowd. No matter how she tries to spin it..it was stupid to think that they would have polite and respectful "patriotic" common sense. She was on that show to portray the hate and meanspiritedness of that crowd. They are not into personal growth and learning.”

“Oh my gosh...I see alot of immaturity here and the helicopter parent. Let the kids believe in Santa and as they get a little wiser have a reasonably nice, honest reason that we use for Santa for the magic of it.. They are learning to give to others, think nicely about others (and themselves) and love the getting. You can work that into something rather nice if you try before the child is totally disallusioned. Use your religious teachings if you have some of the loving ones. Eventually they will ask anyway..so don't wait until they outright ask..watch for their doubts. Let them live this fantasy until they are 6 or 7. And besides I am 71 and I believe everything that is good about Santa. Everything. I love this time of year for that. My faith journey is part of it too. (however, I can separate Santa/Trees and all the trappings from the stable and baby and faith.) Then bring in watching out for the ones who don't have.”

“I agree with you. I am in my late 50's and I don't think some of the parents of young children have the perspective of years of living. Those magical years are so short and kids are smart, when they start asking with a wink and a smile tell you still believe. They'll get the picture.”

Christmas Eve Is the 3,000th Day in Afghanistan and 30th Anniversary of the Russian Invasion

“Whoa...that is not true. The republithugs outvoted any of them..being vocal from a democrat does not equate to the Obstructionists who have a script that each follows.....and the media followed them. Iraq was a lie..that Congress did not see it was a travesty. Afghanistan was left for broarder horizons and now Yeman.....well first Pakistan. It is time to call all of this to a halt. We are not going to change minds this way. My gawd.”

“The trouble with this country is that they don't "get" an intellectual. And Congress is so far beneath that bridge that they don't either. I am very disappointed but by darn, I wouldn't want to be governed by the Thugs. Tho I have to admit..often it seems we are. Constitutional Law is what Obama taught at the U of Chicago. He needs to wield a heavier stick, imo.”

Ignore the haters, Jacob Weisberg says in Slate: President Obama’s first year has been “brilliant.” Should he achieve health-care reform before his one-year anniversary on January 20, as it appears he will, then “he will deliver his first State of the Union address having accomplished more than any other postwar American president at a comparable point in his presidency.””

“Well said. And if we would all say PRO CHOICE rather than For Abortion, we would be more accurate. I remember very well the 'clotheshanger' days and hearing or reading about the results of that. I think young women had to go to Sweden to have a legal abortion. Now could you do that.”

Commented Nov 23, 2009 at 12:16:54 in World

“I don't know if the wars are the same literally, like some are trying to argue...they are not. However, the dilemma is. I remember vividly LBJ looking into the close up TV lens and pronouncing that we were escalating in VN. I also remember MacNamara standing in front of the mics saying "we will be home by Christmas". He knew better, LBJ in the end did not run a second time.
Obama needs to get out of Afhganistan. Bush abandoned this war because he wanted the oil and to show Daddy that he, W, was going to finish the job. We can not win ideologies and thugs with guns. Building their country with our questionable characteristics will only cause more damage for the women and children, especially girl children. More deaths and more poppies. This is a hard decision and I bet Obama will plug his nose and do what Bush' s general wants. It is making me sick. And Bill Moyers program was chilling.”

“Perhaps if she goes to a real college and not the small very narrow conservative Christian ones, she will grow up alittle and have a few real substantive opinions. It can happen. People have to mix with others and if their are after hours "bull sessions" you do learn to either listen, change your mind, study more or KNOW why you think the way you do. Sometimes that is a matter of maturity, sometimes it also causes anger and disbelief and occasionally a "DUH..how could I have thought that". But for whatever the reason these get togethers are very good for the growth of a person ...in a school of higher education with a diverse student body.”

“In the first place, this kid as a senior in hs should have had a better excuse than to blame someone else for reading the tshirt. She might have even had a more mature and educated answer to the question. Truth is..she is star struck without much critical thinking. I would be horribly embarrassed for my children if they had been wrapped up in making a statement with that ugly t shirt and NOT being able to defend any adoration of a Sarah Palin. But not Faux ...the ambassadors of decency, ethics and integrity. Use her and give her time to make up a better answer. BLAMING. gosh.”

“We haven't seen the worst of it yet. Republicans have been living in a 'spin for your life' mode for long enough that its being passed down to the younger generation. They're taught to believe to be on one's guard always because the person you're talking with 'might' be a Democrat! Learning how to be constantly on one's guard is not a positive stance to adopt for young adults. And being a fan of Sarah Palin will be disastrous for this young girl because Palin's world is set to explode within the next six months, if what I've heard is true.
