“The 2nd to last paragraph stated "costing the IRS about 53 cents per $100 collected", so yes it was worthwhile and did much more than cover the costs.”
Jevad on Mar 27, 2011 at 15:13:30
“I agree it was probably worthwhile, but it only explains the costs for the Audits, not the a word about the revenues it produced.
All this news item explains is that the "big bad IRS" got bigger and cost more to run - thus feeding into the Teabaggers argument (and the Repulibaggers argument for cutting funds to IRS), without describing the benefits of catching tax cheats that the rest of us wind up paying for.”

“I do love me some Who and can't wait for the new series to begin.
But my favorite doctor was #9 - Christopher Eccleston. Do you know why he left/was replaced? I also loved Martha Jones and was sad to see her leave after one series as well :(”

“Although I have loved Tom Baker through the years, I loved Christopher Eccleston too and thought he was an excellent reincarnation of Dr. Who. I was really prepared to HATE David Tennant but found I really liked him a lot, then loved him. Then I was completely prepared to HATE Matt Smith (I hate change you may observe) but I LOVE him. He is so quirky and strange, yet endearing and brainy. The writing on the new series is so excellent compared to the old-timey Dr. Who's. I can't wait for the new series.
Thanks for writing about one of my all time favorite shows!”

“I don't know why he left. It was announced he was only doing the one season right after the first episode aired.
Count me as a Martha Jones fan, too. The two-parter where they flee to England right before WWI and, to more effectively hide, he gives up his identity as the Doctor, leaving it in her safe-keeping, is a real highlight of the show.”
“You're missing the point. Non-Jews would be excluded from a Jewish club because they aren't Jewish. But they couldn't exclude Jews who are gay. There are gay Christians, ya know. And Christian churches who welcome gays as parishioners, ministers, bishops. And some that will also marry gay couples.”
“I don't vote for anyone based on their gender (or race, for that matter)
Yes, it would be good to have more women in Congress, but not just "any" women. According to you, we should all vote for Michelle Bachmann even though she's a loon - but she's a female loon. According to you, we should have voted for McCain/Palin even though Palin is just a grifter in heels, instead of Joe Biden, who has done more for women's equality and more on women's issues than almost anyone.
The only way we'll ever truly have gender equality is when we stop basing our opinions of people based on their gender”
“And the ratings for that show the day before Palin?
The O’Reilly Factor – 3,499,000 viewers (932,000 25-54)
So, not really all that big a jump now is it?”

“i think the advertisers would pay attention to a 12% increase in viewership everyday.....Hell the difference is more than 1/2 of who saw any of Olbermaddow, the Tingly one Or Schultzies on the 28th rated cable network”
“Seriously? The guy had an argument with his wife which resulted in him backing his car into a tree. He's not a murderer, people. If this is the "biggest scandal" he'll ever have, he's doing great.
C'mon media, get a grip.”

“Agreed. HP is making stuff up when the evidence is not in yet. We don't know what happened at all here. Tiger is not talking and the police have not completed their investigation yet. How are rumors = to a scandal? I just don't get it.”

“Purposely crashing your car into a fire hydrant and then maybe a tree by accident to MASK spousal abuse (her to him) and POSSIBLY the result of his infidelity, *isn't* a crime????”
“Right, if your definition of liberal elites = people who read books
Palin isn't working class - I don't know that she's ever really worked a day in her life. She lies, manipulates and flits from one thing to the next. And when the going got tough, she quit.”

“What? Putting on make-up isn't work? Strutting around on stage in high heels and a bikini isn't work? That is how Sarah earned income for her college education. To pay for their education some girls work at burger joints, do babysitting, or do word processing. Sarah pranced around in a tiara. Someone should warn Carrie Prejean that if she wants to follow in the footsteps of her "brilliant" idol that beauty queen and talk show brat are not items she wants on her political resume.”

“Please, stop stalking children!
If you would stop buying the photos or linking to them, maybe they would stop stalking them. Seriously people, this is pretty effed up”

“Agreed. This is not TMZ. And who gives a d@mn that a 3-year old wears silver leggings?”

“Well: I saw the article and popped in to say something very similar. It's also odd that this particular site has so many articles on this particular child--her parents aren't even "current." It's getting creepy.”
