“Eckart Tolle's qualifications are nothing more than that millions of others, me included, hold them in high esteem. Your belligerent and negative attitude indicates that you could benefit greatly from his council.

The past exists only in your mind, the future exists only in your mind. Reality exists in this moment only, you have the power to act or change, in this moment only.

Cherish this moment for it is all you have. THE DEER ASKED ITS MOTHER WHAT TIME IT WAS, WHY IT IS NOW, SHE ANSWERED, WHAT ELSE IS THERE.”

The Price of Oil Has Doubled on Obama's Watch -- the Time for Action is Now

Commented Jun 13, 2009 at 13:04:47 in Business

“The higher the cost of oil the better. Oil and its products are destoying our country and our earth. We will not find alternatives until oil becomes economically unatractive. Unfortunately necessity being the mother of invention is the ultimate truth for the human race.

We will drive ourselves and our world to extintion before we act and forget how stupid we were the next day.

When oil goes up people solve the problem, they drive less, use public transportation, science goes to work.

We are driven by need otherwise we just sit on our asses and accept what is.”

“I truly do not understand the Republicans. Their behavior seems nonsensical and counterproductive to their aims. I truly believe they are insane. They have become a cult whos members rationalize their emotional pathology through hate of the other.

The other can be, a different race, a different nationality, a different religion, a different sexuality, a different political party, a different political phliosophy it doesn't really matter.

They are frightened little people cowering in the corner afraid of bogey men that don't exist.

I am trying to be sympathetic.”

There should be some way that we the American people could stop paying these fools, they are certainly not doing the jobs they were elected to do.”

Your House Is Finally Getting Close To A Fair Price

If We 'Kill the Rich', Don't We Kill the Dream?

Commented Mar 24, 2009 at 12:20:12 in Business

“Your dream, not mine. In my dream, the American Dream, all Americans are created equal and the government insures equal opportunity for all.

Lets take all the people in New York who are wealthy due to there so called "merit" and start them off in rural Mississippi, or homeless on the street in Los angeles and see how far they get without the family and class infrastructure that made their merit possible.

The American rich and the idea that wealth is the key to happiness have killed America. We have spent the last 20 years blaming the poor for our problems when it is the greedy, narcissistic, materialistic rich who are to blame. Lets go back to the tax structure of that arch liberal, Richard Nixon or Dwight Eisenhower and let the rich pay taxes as a percentage of their wealth and then talk to me about "THE DREAM".

Having said that, nature does not make all men equal. Some are athletes and some are small and weak. Some are smart and most of us are not.

And there is nothing in the Constitution that guarantees that the state has to overcome the limitations nature has given us.”

Commented Mar 12, 2009 at 10:47:16 in Living

“Gretchen,

Happiness cannot be bought, as love and compassion cannot be bought. Happiness is a state of mind. Having enough to eat, a shelter over your head and a healthy body are helpful, but not essential.
The discomfort people feel in this recession is more related to their diminished possession fueled egos than any real loss.
Modern industrial society is insane: so insane, that the truths of life have become indiscernible to modern man and women.
I suggest that you investigate Buddhism and the Buddhist philosophy and the teachings of Eckhart Tolle.
Anyone with eyes can see, particularly at this time, that the desire for the things that money can buy is just a misguided attempt to find outside ourselves the happiness that in the absence of ego resides within.”

SamKnause replied on Mar 13, 2009 at 20:54:16

“For some odd reason many men seem to think being a disingenuous jerk is a sign of masculinity. As a recently married but previously dating man it was really a pleasure to have such pathetic competition. My partners pleasure has always been my first priority and I have never made love to someone I have not known well and cared about deeply. I have never found female orgasms to be elusive or tricky. Be patient, compassionate, and genuine and leave your ego at home. Being a good lover requires the same qualities as being a good person. Intercourse will happen when deep mutual feelings of affection need to be expressed, otherwise your just getting laid and it never feels right.”

“As the President of the United States you are the father figure to the world. Some people hate their fathers and some people love them, but whtaever the feeling it is held with great passion.

President Obama undestands the power of his position and uses it to make the world a better place, calm those who fear, temper those who are moved to destroy and give hope to the hopeless.

What is the dark magic he uses, is he a God or the second coming, as some mockingly joke? No he is a human being who's heart is bigger than his ego, whose strength comes from within, not from throwing his weight around.

His conversation with the Muslim world today cost no American dollars, sacrificed no American lives, compromised no American ideals and antagonized no American alies yet may have done more to make americans safe and foster democracy and peace in the middle east in one hour than the whole eight years of the Bush tradgedy.”

“I do not see much evidence of Christians following or trying to follow the path of Jesus Christ. Speaking as an atheist, I think that the teachings of Jesus like the teachings of the Buddha much earlier are radically different from the Old Testament and the Koran.

Jesus taught compassion, love and understanding towards others and forgiveness. Forgiveness of his followers by him and forgiveness of all humanity by his followers. Other than my experience working in Christian homeless shelters where all involved, both givers and receivers, seemed committed to the teachings of the New Testament, most Christians seem much more attracted to the judgment and condemnation of the Old Testament.

Religion is not bad, but people can be, and frequently they use these old metaphysical books to justify their rejection of others.”

“I have been thinking about this, trying to figure out how I feel. At first I was outraged, but I am coming around. We can not change minds we do not have access to. If Obama is the STRONG, good, rational, compassionate man I beleive him to be then he will have a great influence on the people he brings into the fold. He and we can change them because we come from love and compassion, they can not change us.

Hate and predjudice are not rational ideas, they are emotional. They are motivated by feelings of inferiority and fear of the OTHER. Religion is just the attempt to rationalized emotional feelings.

I am an athiest, but loving thy neighbor, judging not, and turning the other cheek as Jesus taught, will bring the change we seek. The people will and should speak loudly and protest, but our President will lead the way.”

It is ironic that if not for the extreme failure of the Republicans and George Bush we might have had to wait longer for this day.

It is my belief that Reverend Wright spoke the truth in everything the media cherry picked out of his sermons. We reap what we sew and we have often acted contrary to the interest of the people in countries around the world.
