“As someone who just got an appointment for a colonoscopy in July 2013 (the earliest I could be fit in) I agree with all this women's sentiments.”

“Are you willing to pay higher taxes in order to get seen sooner AND maintain universal healthcare?
What is your solution?
The Koch twits are spending $6million on her ad alone!!! That would pay for some healthcare, wouldn't it?”
elatas on Sep 4, 2012 at 21:18:32
“Yes, regular testing take longer because we lack doctors, not because of lack of quality care, which is what this woman is saying. You have to wait longer because sick people get in front of the line.
My 50 year old sister was diagnosed with breast cancer this year. After multiple tests to check if her cancer had spread to her liver.with two scans and two biopsies, she just had a radical mastectomy. No chemo is necessary and she'll get reconstructive surgery before the year is over. I'm sure she got in front of someone and I accept that it could be me.
Wouldn't you want it to be you who get in front of the line if you get sick?”

“You can pay to have one done sooner at a local clinic. It will be done within two weeks. If the results are positive you can get reimbursed. Otherwise the criteria below is why your appointment is so far out:
A screening colonoscopy is typically done in an individual with risk factors for colon cancer or colonic polyps. These risk factors include the following:
1. Family history of colon cancer or colonic polyps
2. Age 50 – 75
3. History of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis)
4. Past history of polyps
A diagnostic colonoscopy is done in an individual with symptoms such as:
1. Rectal bleeding
2. Positive stool test for blood (Fecal Occult Blood)
3. Change in bowel habit
4. Unexplained anemia
5. Abnormality in other X-ray or Ultrasound tests
6. Unexplained weight loss
7. New onset of abdominal pain or abdominal symptoms”

“You should be happy that your FOBT came back negative for cancer. If it came back positive, you know you wouldn't have to wait that long.”

“The libertarians (a significant portion of the TP) has been fighting this via the Institute of Justice for years. I guess doing 2 minutes of research is a lot harder than just making uninformed statements about your political opponents.”

“The comments here are hilarious, "people are ignorant for not knowing what's in their best interest." People are ignorant to assume to know what is best for other people. I've voted three times against a union each time I worked in an industry with such a narrow profit margin that whatever the union promised us would have been the end of the business and my job”
“The amount of stupidity in these comments is mind boggling. "He's avoiding taxes!" Bullsh*t. He just paid more in an exit tax than all the commenters to this story will pay in their lifetimes combined. Good for him. The US tax system is a joke.”
“This doesn't just affect the super rich, I'm solidly middle class (wife and I make 95,000 total) living outside the US for the last ten years. Just found out unlike almost every other country in the world I'm required to file tax returns if the US and the country I live in. I owe US taxes on income that I made in Canada with no attachments to the US. I can't have the home we were just about to buy in my name and any bank account my wife or I have with over 10,000 in it must be reported to the IRS. This is BS. No other industrialized nation does this. Yet I'm considered a tax evader. I'm seriously considering renouncing my citizenship.”
Mythlandia on May 13, 2012 at 15:26:21
“That level of income earned in Canada is tax-free in the US to US Citizens: in 2012 the level for an individual of excluded foreign earned income is $95,100. This applies per person.
Then above that level, any tax you paid to the Canadian Government (on the amounts above that level) are deducted from any notional tax owed.
So, don't worry about the tax.
Check with an accountant.”

“Reeltime is correct. Also there is no logical or financial reason to not put your name on the home you are going to buy and have all you want in a bank account. Because of the higher Canadian taxes, these steps will not cost you $1 of additional US taxes.
Get some professional tax advice - you need it.”

“I'm a little confused. With the canadian income tax rate higher than the US and by treaty any tax you paid there is considered a tax paid here, you should have gotten a rebate from the US IRS if you filed in both Countries. I was playing hockey in Canada and being paid by a canadian Sports team to play. I filed in both countries and generally recieved a refund in both. As long as you keep your US citizenship and it's privledges( I say that tounge in cheek) they do expect you to file. I can only figure you didn't. If you file an Ammended here you maybe able to recover your refund, you in all likelyhood have comming, but only for the previous 3 yrs.( you said 10 yrs outside, did you touch U.S. soil the once in every 7 yrs, that is required under Citizenship laws which I almost failed in doing. It is cause to lose your citizenship by Gov. law.) so you will have lost all refunds due for the other 7 yrs. Talk to the U.S. Consular General iin Ottawa if you have to, they will help. It probably can be handled over the phone and through the mails, or on the web. Good luck, I messed up my first year but after that it was a little inconvenent but not to much.”

it's Muslims your trying to teach all about free speech ...right....”

“There is a difference between freedom of speech and propagation of hate. Freedom of speech has its limits - when media is used to hurt, humiliate, insult or denigrate a specific group within a society, where is there freedom to live in security and without oppression?”

“I find it ironic that so many of the commenters want her life ruined considering they'd be ruining the lives of her three children at the same time. She gamed the system, happens all the time. Instead of revenge ensure it doesn't happen again.”

“This yahoo should never have been allowed children? The system can help her children when something goes wrong as we already helped her get out of a clear cut life sentence. HER CHILDREN are a direct result and a direct responsibility of a failed legal system”

“She didn't 'game' the system. This wasn't some ponzi scheme. She brutally murdered two innocent children. Nobody wants anything to happen to her children, but seriously, you're losing perspective.”

“stc, you're really thinking about her children? Really? Any person who dealt with the case will tell you she was the ring leader and Bernardo was the accomplice. You think that if she did something like this to her own sister she wouldn't do it to her own children? Wow. I can't believe anyone could think like you do if you learned about this case at all.”

“There are a few of the naturally born ladies that I would peg as born men before her, but she's not even in the top 50% look wise. Way better looking chicks in this group. I just think it's a proud day for mankind that we can say "I don't care what you were born, we can objectify you equally!"”
