“I had people make comments out of ignorance. My husband left me with a text message (after 16 years) and committed bigamy days later. The strangeness of the story led it to be covered in the news. Some of the comments in the newspapers were extremely heartless and painful, especially for me to read while trying to come to terms with my new reality.
"If she had only had sex with him more..." I didn't realize there were people watching in my bedroom.
"Boy, that wife must be terrible for him to leave her like that." Regardless of me, since when is it okay to commit a felony while leaving your spouse?
"I feel really sorry for the new wife." Well, okay, so do I.
“My husband didn't try to legalize polygamy, he simply committed bigamy without my knowledge. In his case, it wasn't about trying to accumulate more wives; he was trying to create a new life because he screwed up the first one too much. My take - if you don't want to be monogamous, don't get married. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“Often it happens that people don't recognize that until after they are married. Few of us were born wise, and it would seem fewer still die wise.”
“I grew up in a family that frequented nudist hang-outs. As I became a teenager, I realized that I felt more insecure about my body in a bathing suit than I did nude. There is something about how the suit hides and reveals that made me agonize over my body in a way I never considered when it is in its natural state. So, I guess one way to avoid buying a bikini is to swim in your birthday suit:) http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“I think you have to redefine your idea of "good" with certain gluten free foods, bread included. I was thrilled with my 'Tweason Ale last night, but I have to release the memory of how good Guiness tastes to enjoy it. I'm not a fan of any of the prepared GF breads, but I do like the Gluten Free Pantry's mixes and they are easy to use and the results freeze well. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“Divorce can be a painful and alienating transition. Some people are able to more beyond it, making the well-being hit a temporary one. Others seem to get stuck in the bog of divorce and suffer for a lengthier time. In my opinion, this study indicates that there are a large number of divorced people who would benefit from more support and assistance in learning how to overcome their pain. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“This actually happened to my best friend from high school through college ... Her legal husband married three other women while being married to her... All the times he was away at night, she thought he was away on business. As she would say, "He likes getting married. The dope (being nice here) was too cheap to divorce anyone." Actually after a meeting with two of the other wives, they agree he thought divorce was too expensive. Crazy people out here!!!”

“My husband did the same. We had been separated for a good six years. When I tracked him down after he filed papers, his neighbors pointed to me which house on the block he lived in... with his wife, son and dog. When he and I got married he made me give up my dog because he found them to be a nuisance. I gave the dog to my coworker and took it back after I moved away from my husband. All the signs were there that he was a prick, I just ignored them.”

“What?? He did that while he was still married to you? Geez...you would think they would investigate people's marital status before handing out marriage licenses like candy! Sorry that happened to you!”
“I thought about this when I was suddenly abandoned by my husband. I never had a wedding registry because we already had an established household. After my divorce, I was left with nothing, high legal fees, and the daunting task of setting up a new household. I never had a divorce registry, but I did have amazing friends that provided a home for a year and helped me to get back on my feet. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com/2012/02/12/wanted-the-ron…ntly-separated/”
“Blogs and other social media can be used as a positive support platform for those undergoing trauma and change. It allows people to give and receive support in a semi-anonymous forum that can assist in the healing process. I applaud Heather Armstrong for using her public site to engage people in discussion about divorce and its effects. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“First, I never claimed to be a world-class sprinter, which certainly has a large genetic component. I choose to sprint for fun and fitness. I do plenty of strength and endurance work, but yoga helps by improving flexibility, thus improving biomechanics and making my stride more efficient.”
Cyrus Trance on Apr 15, 2012 at 13:27:57
“Strength training and technique are important in sprinting. Learning to relax while maintaining stride length and leg speed is the goal.
When I first started college I had a really good coach who stressed strength training and technique. He later became the Dallas Cowboys conditioning coach.
Yoga will not build any significant strength, explosive power, or running technique. Stretching your hamstrings will help stride length but if you lack strength then its all for nothing.
Every good sprinter I ever ran against was strong.”

“I've been surprised at how much my running has improved by adding hot yoga to my training. I've become faster and I'm not as sore. Even my sprint buddy has noticed the change in my stride! http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
Cyrus Trance on Apr 15, 2012 at 04:12:17
“Never heard of getting faster by doing yoga.
Yoga is not really a good strength or endurance builder.
“I add it to many savory dishes, but my two favorite uses are very simple. I sprinkle it on popcorn and love it mixed into scrambled egg whites. It adds great flavor without the butter or salt:) http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“Dried fruit is a "healthy" source of sugar that fools many people. Watch out for those raisins hiding in granola, baked goods, and cereals...their sugar and calories adds up quickly! http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“I've been gluten free for 5 years due to intolerance (never bothered to be tested for celiac). My athletic build is due to an overall healthy plant-based diet and consistent and intense exercise, NOT the elimination of gluten. Especially now with the popularity of gluten-free foods, I could junk all day long if I wanted to. It is important not to get so hung up on a piece of a diet that we fail to look at the big picture. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“I love to make spinach smoothies: frozen mango, pineapple juice, and spinach! If I want a richer, more filling smoothie, I make this one: ice, banana, almond butter, vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, and spinach. The spinach is easily overpowered by the other flavors and it adds great nutrition to a quick snack or meal. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“instead of ice, try frozen blueberries - we get our green by putting superfood in our smoothies.
Our teenage sons are now smoothie junkies - they ask if they've done something wrong if they don't get a smoothie in the morning.”

“You Don't have to make Spinach or Asparagus a MAIN Course.. Just an Additivie like Lettuace and Tomatoe and Oinions..Mix them into your Burgers, Hot Dogs as your Condommints..It's tasteless and Has Twice the Vitamins than Lettauce and Tomato..
A Simple Spoon Full size is all that is needed to be added..
Eat that 2-3x a week and your alot better off than Nothing..aren't you?”
“I went to extremes after my divorce. On one hand, I read books like the True Blood series because I could keep up with the story even if I read it between crying jags and the silliness distracted me. I also turned to The Sociopath Next Door (Martha Stout) to try to understand my ex-husband and Waking the Tiger (Peter Levine) to learn how to heal from the emotional and physical trauma of the divorce. Once some clarity of thought returned, I enjoyed theoretical physics books that reminded me of how small my problems really were. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”

“Those early stages of divorce are a very alienating time. It is beneficial to be able to talk to others who are going through a similar trauma. Perhaps the best part of the expo is that it takes discussion of divorce out of hushed tones and moves it into the pubic eye. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“I knew mine was over when I received the following text: "I am sorry to be such a coward telling you this way, but I am leaving you and leaving the state." This was after 16 years together. We were planning a trip to the coast for the following weekend. Instead, he married another that weekend, committing bigamy. Over with a capital O. http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com”
“That is a valid reason for a marriage to end. Realizing one day out of the blue that you hate the sound of your husband chewing is not. Maybe the sound of the chewing made Kate realize that there were many other aspects of the marriage driving her nuts; regardless, the video as it is makes her sound pretty pathetic.”
