“NOT always. Depends on the parents. Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Thandie Newton, Salma Hayek, Halle Berry's daughter: yes. Heidi Klum's kids: no. It all depends on genetics.”

“NOT TRUE. Very often, foreigners get away with murder in foreign places because they have the money and influence to do so whereas the poor local pays the price. It is a question of class. I have been in desperate areas and I have seen first hand, well-to-do foreigners do as they please. General, sweeping statement you make and highly inaccurate.”

“NINE little girls CANNOT be wrong. Something is fishy here. Child sexual abuse is a huge issue and I have a problem with how flippant people are on this thread ignoring the blatant fact here: once again, children go up and face the court system and their courage is spat on. How are nine girls wrong? This woman did something and in a country where rape of girls is so rampant, I am afraid of what signal this will send. In regards to Oprah's African school: IT IS HER money not yours. Take a trip to South Africa and visit the slums there where even having a notebook is considered a luxury and then try to compare that to the little Nintendo loving brats in this country. Yes, there are poor kids here but at least they get free schooling. In South Africa, it is rare for girls to even be allowed to go to schools. You people need to get out more. South Africans don't have food stamps and welfare, Americans do. Get over yourselves. It is worst there and makes sense she opened a school in such a desperate area. When you make YOUR billion, you can open a school in Des Moines, haters!”

hereinmiami on Oct 12, 2010 at 12:04:53

“i agree with you, but its not true that "in south africa, it is rare for girls to even be allowed to go to school." that's just not how it is there.”

“Language inevitably changes. Has been doing so for as long as we humans started speaking. It can change within one city alone. Now it is problematic that the DEA needs translators and waste money on this. It is problematic that we have such a divide where a kid selling drugs has a language that is so different than a man working as an agent. It is problematic to read the comments here. The term Ebonics is problematic too. It refers to race when in fact I don't think the vernacular is race based. It often is but it is more to do with region and generation than race. I like standard, commonly spoken English. Good middle ground. My preference. Overall, I love the way the English aristocracy speak. I do. It turns me on to hear Prince Charles. Actually turns me on to hear Keith Richards. lol!”

“I speak MANY languages. FYI: Most Haitians who are poor CAN'T understand French and Creole is very hard for French speakers. So you need to check your facts. The two are very different. Spanish speakers understanding Creole, as you claim is LUDICROUS. lol! There may be a handful of Spanish words used in Creole but to say a Spanish speaker would understand is your way of giving some characteristic to this language that is simply not there. You are highly misinformed.”
