“First, atheism isn't a religion. Atheism is as much of a religion as bald is a hair color or as much as not collecting stamps is a hobby.
Second, the Free Exercise and Establishment clauses of the US Constitution forbid public endorsement of any on religion, regardless of what the majority wants. That's what the Bill of Rights was made for, to ensure the rights of the minority, even in the face of majority rule. By putting up a CHRISTIAN banner, a government entity is promoting one religion over the rest or over non-religion. If only you cared about the first amendment as much as the second. Alas.”

“Although not a "religion", it is a belief system. "Bald" is just as much a descriptor of a head as any hair color or style.”
“This is some of the most brilliant satire and mockery of the American political system I have ever seen.
Colbert is literally educating people on how crooked the whole Super-Pac non-coordination stuff is. I love it. The only people who hate it are made that normal folks are figuring out the disaster for democracy that is Citizens United.”
“Credit downgrade, debt and deficits are all fully attributable to Bush’s policies. Unpaid prescription plans for seniors, unpaid for tax cuts and two unpaid wars. Obama walked into to an economy that was tanking, slowed the destruction and turned it around. You’re welcome to look at any job charts or economic predictors. Obama’s stimulus plan staved off an economic collapse and unemployment is falling. You're welcome to look at the falling jobless rate. 200,000 jobs created in December. Ouch, that has to hurt your ideology right? Nah, who am I kidding? When was the last time facts changed your mind, right?
Mentioning healthcare makes me think about Sarah Palin’s death panels (what kind of Christian lies like that?). You clearly have no idea how the healthcare system works. It is a HUGE accomplishment for this nation. Your healthcare won’t change. What will change is that 30 million Americans won’t have to worry about how to get medicine.
Anyone who says this country is more divided and there's more turmoil in the Middle East than ever clearly has not taken any history classes. For chrissakes man, Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton had a duel. We had a civil war. Preston Brooks nearly beat Charles Sumner to death on the floor of the US Senate. The country hated George Bush much more than Obama, and George Bush didn’t even have all the ignorant racists hassling him!”
A) The difference is that I’m not the one arguing that getting elected makes you smart. Obama was, however, an editor of the Harvard Law Review with outstanding academic credentials. One does not simply graduate from an Ivy League school and become an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
B) I don’t care how long she could survive in the wild. That’s an absurd qualification that makes no sense. Did you vote for Bush because you want to have a beer with him too? Why is it that you right wingers want elite athletes, elite doctors, elite pilots, elite engineers, but when it comes to the person with access to nuclear codes, you’re scared of someone smarter than you?
C) Are you proud of those marines violating the Geneva convention and desecrating the bodies of enemy soldiers? Yeah, that’s cool. I’m proud of the great things America has done, I’m embarrassed by our past of slavery and racism, I’m embarrassed by our military actions over the last three decades, and I’m embarrassed by people like you who are, deep down, so scared, that they wrap themselves in a flag and bible and idiotic rhetoric. You are the problem with this nation.”

“Bill Ayers also has outstanding academic credentials and tried to kill our citizens. He's also a friend of Obamas no matter how you spin it. Does that make him qualified to lead this country?
I'd much rather have someone leading this country that can survive in the wild than someone that divides people through race and class warfare. Scared of someone smarter than me? Romney is clearly smarter than me and most of this country, certainly smarter than you. I support Romney.
Yes; I'm very, very proud of those Marines that killed those Taliban pigs. I'd rather there wasn't a camera there to capture what they did afterwards, but I'm certainly not going to condemn someone from the comfort of my air conditioned living room who is living in the trenches in a hell hole with people trying to kill them everyday.
“Better than the mayor of a bumpkin town who doesn't know the difference in the words repudiate and refute. Yeah, clearly your judgement of leadership is sharp.”

“Better how? Better with first credit downgrade in our history, highest debts and deficits in our history, government making decisions on your healthcare, country divided more than ever, more turmoil in Middle East than ever? Better how?”
“I know plenty. And the ones I know would punch me if I told them they weren't as smart as whites and therefore can only succeed with the help of white liberals giving them advantages they didn't earn.
“She came from nothing to become a mayor, followed by the governor of her state, with an overwhelming percentage of citizens approving of her, to the nominee for VP of the United States on a ticket that received almost 60 million votes. She believes in smaller government and letting the citizens keep more of what they earn. She's ALWAYS been proud of her country. You could leave her in the woods for 2 weeks and she'd be just fine.
“At this point I'm not going to argue about belief systems as it clearly won't change your views.
However, as someone who writes for a living, I've found that overuse of adjectives is one of the biggest problems people have when writing. It takes away from the content and by forcibly adding adjectives, one tends to end up using a word improperly or out of context.
For what it's worth, I really wasn't being condescending. Making a clear, concise point resonates more with readers than long-winded, verbose arguments.”
“So people shouldn't be able to do with their own bodies as they please because you don't like it?
If there's anyone that needs to try some drugs, it's you. It is, if anything, unnatural to go through life without the altering your consciousness in one way or another. You're welcome to do that, but judging by the intolerance, hate and ignorance you display (along with poor spelling and grammar and such), methinks you would benefit greatly from a therapeutic psilocybin session.”
“Having found Proverbs 1:7 at an early age and realizing Our Creator is not pleased with those who do not get their brain to a level of intelligence that He knows they have the ability to do, and having considered I may have the opportunity to do a good service to Him if I did I have tried to become nearly as useful with a good command of intellectual ability as I can. Are there not enough intentionally stupid people on the planet ? "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." I don't do too bad for a person who is not college educated. How would you have said what I said in a better way ?”
“When did you first start questioning your sexuality?
I only ask because multiple studies have shown that people like you, argumentative homophobes, are probably someone repressing homosexual urges. Is that true?”

“I think I first gave serious consideration to my sexuality when I realized I had some humongous emotions for an extremely beautiful, and some said an extremely stupid and sexual female, that I entertained the thought of being married to for the remainder of my conscious existence and not wanting to be in a position that would cause her any unhappiness, I did give serious consideration to whether we could both be happy together for a lifetime..”
