“The #1 problem in this country is not health care reform, it IS campaign finance reform. We are all just pawns in the never ending game between the GOP & DEMS on who can raise more money to get more power.
First and foremost the folks in Washington are looking out for themselves. They only care about protecting their own jobs. Why else would it be ok to give tax breaks to companies that ship good paying American jobs overseas? Because those CEO's fund their campaigns and expect something for their "investment". No big check for the next election unless they vote the way they are expected to vote.
I'm afraid meaningful health care reform is all but dead. Until the way campaigns are financed in this country changes, the people controlling the purse strings will ALWAYS control what happens in Washington.”

The Real Motive Behind the Cheney Family Torture Tour

The Real Motive Behind the Cheney Family Torture Tour

Commented May 14, 2009 at 12:25:00 in Politics

“There are 2 reasons Cheney is talking... 1) Bob Cesna is right, he is trying to cover up the fact that they used torture to elicit false confessions about an Iraq/Al Quada connection. However it seems to be becoming clear that Dick and his cronies will not be prosecuted for his crimes so I don't think he is too worried about that.
2) I think the main reason he is talking goes back to his neo-con roots and PNAC. The GOP is reeling right now with no message and no direction. If the US is hit with another terrorist attack, the neo-cons who "warned" us that Obama is making the US less safe, suddenly become relevant again. The neo-cons primary weapon of propaganda is fear. Cheney and his cronies believe that the fearful American public will turn to the tough guy neo-cons to protect them again.
IMHO THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SET UP TO RETAKE POWER SHOULD CIRCUMSTANCES DICTATE. IT IS REALLY THAT SIMPLE.”

Adultolesence: The Difference Between Men Who Won't Grow Up And Men Who Just Wanna Have Fun

Commented Jul 01, 2008 at 18:21:04 in Living

“My advice to all single men who want to stay in Adultolecence...
1-Find a job you are passionate about, no matter the pay, then work becomes fun and interesting. When work is fun then you are ahead of 95% of the population, and soon enough you will make money because your passion and energy will stand out.
2- Do not get married. The responsibility of a wife and kids overrides everything. You will have very little time to pursue any interests that you may have. To raise a well rounded child you must devot a great deal of time to their schooling and outside interests. These things not only take time they take a lot of money. Suddenly money becomes the key issue in your life. Supporting a family is very expensive. With all the added responsibility stress levels rise, and suddenly the marriage is not what you thought it would be.
3- Live within your means. If you stay single it should not be difficult to live cheap if money gets tight. Its just stupid to run up your credit cards. You can still have a lot of fun with very little money. Use the internet to meet people and have fun. LIFE IS TOO SHORT...”

The Question That Cuts Both Ways --Why Let McCain Win?

The Question That Cuts Both Ways --Why Let McCain Win?

Commented Jun 02, 2008 at 01:15:01 in Politics

“Obama should not give Hillary the VP spot. He should offer her his first Supreme Court nomination. She would better serve this nation in that capacity. Three of her biggest issues are womens rights, workers rights, and voting rights. These are usually issues under the Supreme courts domain.
On the ticket she would be a distraction and a hinderence. Frankly she is a weak campaigner.
On the Supreme Court she could help advance the liberal ideals that democrats, including Obama, are seeking.
In my eyes a win-win.
Agree?”

SanityClaus replied on Jun 02, 2008 at 02:35:07

“No.

Hillary couldn't pass the DC bar exam.

Hillary couldn't write her own autobiography.

The most important skill for a Supreme Court justice is the ability to write cogent opinions. By that standard, Hillary is unqualified.

Then there are all the cases from which she would have to recuse herself because of her husband's sources of income.”

“Count me as one. If Obama is the nominee he will get my vote. Under no circumstances will I vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. The way she has conducted her campaign shows me the type of leader she will be, which is why I can never, ever vote for her. I will never vote for a person who uses Roves "politics of fear." If it is Clinton vs McCain, I will sit this one out. There is not a dimes bit of difference between them.”

Earlier this year, when I was volunteering for Obama, I felt like I would have my arm broken than vote for Hillary. But now, with things unfolding, the bigger problem is McCain.

Don't see it as voting for Hillary. See it as voting for McCain.

However, I hope this will be a side issue, because BARACK OBAMA WILL BE OUR PARTY'S NOMINEE.”

If the Obama people sit this one out in the event he isn't the nominee, he's finished as a national candidate. People have long memeories.

PennP replied on Apr 23, 2008 at 15:57:25

“I think we should have a voice--the Democratic Party should have evidence of our numbers and our feelings. If the worst happens and they cow to the bully, we should write in Obama. And then--and this would get their attention like nothing else, because it will cost them seats in Congress--masses of us should unregister from the party. By "masses," I mean millions. If the Democratic Party is going to disenfranchise us, turnabout is fair play.

I don't want to be a part of a political party that would jettison the best chance we've had for good government in the past generation because they're too spineless and their members are too interested in their personal fortunes to stand up to a sleazy couple who should have been given the boot years ago. If we Obamians sit it out, it could be read all kinds of ways--but "nonparticipatory" and "anti-voting" is how it will be spun, and it will become "unAmerican, like Obama" by the second telling. Write-ins coupled with mass defections would be activist and unambiguous. It might be the only thing that would keep the Party from doing it again. Of course, we could re-register to vote HRC's supporters out of office when their reelections came up--can't overlook the little people!”
