“Why, because I said I'm not affiliated with any party?”
A Regular on Oct 8, 2013 at 23:40:01
“Yes. Choose a friend of yours that you feel you can trust that has some firm party opinions and go with that. I'm a lefty, but I, nor can a righty, have an intelligent conversation with a leaf blowing in the wind. You have to have an established foundation to stand on. Choose a party line, any party line, then we'll talk.”
“I haven't seen a doctor since 2005 when I lost my insurance coverage, and yes, my state is Republican, which I don't really have a problem with as my views are mostly conservative.”
gladys46 on Oct 8, 2013 at 22:33:19
“Conservatism has been completely debunked aaah suzzq ... and you can surely see there is NOTHING trickling down to you ... NOTHING!
If all is given to the top 1% .. where do you think you come in the picture ... last if ever at all!! You really need to telephone some democratic official ... allow them to help you ... you'll get nothing but non-sense from so-called "conservatives" ! If that's what you want ... NOTHING ... please proceed!”
“Yes, I have read it, and the only thing that will help someone like me is if my state makes changes to it's Medicaid program in 2014, which I will never apply for, I have always paid my own way and I'm afraid that there are many people that feel the same way, so, this is not a solution for us.”
gladys46 on Oct 8, 2013 at 20:20:44
“Suzzq ... if I might ask ... how have you taken care of your health care needs prior to now? Is you state a republican led one?”
“Gladys46, have you applied for ACA? I did, or tried to, and here is what I discovered, the lowest level of insurance that I can purchase will cost 80% of my income! Because our economy sucks I can only find part-time work and don't qualify for my employers insurance. Why weren't we given the opportunity to apply for a temporary extension to prepare ourselves for the sticker shock of the ACA?”
gladys46 on Oct 8, 2013 at 19:46:49
“What about subsidies, tax credits ... have you read any of the ACA???
I don't need to apply ... aah, suzzq, I'm retired ... I have very handsome health care coverages from my erstwhile job, etc.!
My concerns are for those like you ... who can ill-afford proper health care!”
“Ok, I have a question, two actually, that don't seem to ever be addressed in the media. First is, wouldn't this all be solved if Obama agreed to give the same 1 year extension to the American people that he has given businesses and unions? And second, isn't it a violation of the 28th amendment for congress to pass any law that they are exempt from? It seems to me that the Republicans are just standing up for our rights, and no, I'm not Republican, I'm smart enough not to be affiliated with any party. If the government gets away with this crap what's to stop them from taking more of our rights away, where does it end?”
"With the federal government nearing shutdown, House Speaker John Boehner stood on the House floor Monday and called on his colleagues to vote for a bill banning a “so-called exemption” that lawmakers and staffers receive for their health insurance.
“Why don’t we make sure that every American is treated just like we are?” Boehner asked, seeking to prohibit members of Congress and Capitol Hill aides from getting thousands of dollars in subsidies for their health insurance as they join Obamacare-mandated insurance exchanges.
Yet behind-the-scenes, Boehner and his aides worked for months with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), and others, to save these very same, long-standing subsidies, according to documents and e-mails provided to POLITICO. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was also aware of these discussions, the documents show."”

“suzzq, a person who stands for nothing falls for anything.”
Twin21 on Oct 8, 2013 at 19:34:14
“Answer : Businesses requested the extention because they needed more time to set up there health care plan. Also, the republicans was right there lobbying for the extention. Finally no one is exempt from the ACA. If you already have health insurance ( which the Congress and federal worker does) you are already in line with the law. The government shutdown because republicans were trying to use the CR to force the President and the democrat to defund the ACA. Guess what, it didn't work. now the republicans have to figure there way out of this mess because the President is not backing down.”
Seattlelite on Oct 8, 2013 at 19:29:35
“Pressure from business leaders and republicans is why the Pres. agreed to the 1year extension. The business community claimed it needed more time. IMO he never should have agreed. Every time he and Dem's gives into republicans demands they come back and up the anti. They got the 1yr extension now they'er demanding the entire ACA be abolished! The GOP is not acting as honest brokers or in good faith. 30 people in their party has decided they either get what they want or they'll bring the entire country down. The only way of solving this problem is for republicans to lose the house in 2014~”
gladys46 on Oct 8, 2013 at 19:22:34
“Perhaps doing some credible research rather than repeating republican talking no-points would help you!
First of all ... some big businesses and some unions applied for temporary extentions in order to implement the ACA! Fold it into their systems!
Our rights ... you don't think ALL people have the right to health care!!”
“Pay attention, the Arab Nations have offered to pay for this, nobody has the strike capabilities that the US has, they can't get involved militarily but they can fund it, since when did gassing children and innocent civilians become ok with us?”
barflea on Sep 4, 2013 at 23:49:15
“Oh sure, just like Iraq was going to greet us as liberators, and pay us back in oil, gee, that is working great....
And where was your outrage when 800,000 civilians in Rwanda were hacked to death? ”
“Absolutely shameful! I didn't vote for Obama and I think he will go down in history as one of, if not the worst President we've ever had, but that aside, he IS the Commander in Chief and these soldiers have no choice but to obey his orders, to post this crap online AND hide their faces while doing it, is treason! They should all be tracked down and jailed! I have never been as disappointed and ashamed of the USA than I am now.”
“Something is missing here, what brought this to the courts attention in the first place?”
meoverthere on Aug 12, 2013 at 19:09:54
“If you read the article you would have seen this "The boy's parents were in court because they could not agree on the child's last name, but when the judge heard the boy's first name, she ordered it changed, too."”
“If they're not there to ensure riders safety than why are they needed at all? The question is, if it had been your job, could you have just waved her on knowing the risk to her safety? Personal responsibility goes both ways!”
“Awww...that poor woman, she must have been terrified in her last moments. She was obviously too large to be fastened into the seat properly, maybe she didn't speak English and couldn't read the warning signs that are posted or understand the directions given by the ride attendant. In the end, the responsibility lies with the ride employees, it's their responsibility to keep people safe.”
PatrioticAmerican1983 on Jul 21, 2013 at 18:41:52
“Yeah, we all know there is no such thing as personal responsibility is there?”
CiceroJoe on Jul 21, 2013 at 18:37:20
“I disagree with you, it is not the ride employees responsibility, people need to realize they are too large to do certain things.”
“It is lol, indeed! Sorry. HP underlined my correct spelling as incorrect, so I changed it. They seem to have a habit of highlighting correctly spelled words. I try to be diligent about spelling and since HP has no spell check, I frequently google words to get the right spelling.”
