“Yes!~ Every single point in this editorial is right on the money. However, why is the Obama presidency and his general incompetence and lack of leadership a surprise? My god, it was so obvious from the beginning that he was unqualified to be president, that he had a great ghost writer for his book (ok, he says not, but come on, it is obvious as well...) and of course the campaign speeches which were written by genius marketing gurus, and he never held a real job in any deep or committed capacity and oh don't forget how he voted "Present" more than any other senator because he didn't want to get down into the mud or the fight. He has no credentials to be doing this job and we elected him anyway. What a shame. We could have had Hillary. She would have kicked butt and we all know now that we really missed the boat on that one. Instead, it appears that we voted for a defacto president...his name is David Axelrod. What a shame.”

Gitmo is on it's way to closing. Russia & France are working with us for the first time in years to keep Iran in check. And in the last three weeks we've aided in attacks in Yemen on al Queda - killing over 40 in both sets of attacks, we stopped a Cocaine shipment used by Al Queda, Pakistani military took out some Taliban and Al Queda launched he weakest attack on us since Richard Reid - the shoe bomber - showing that Al Queda is very desperate.

Not to mention big credit reform, some energy reform on the way and business regulation. DADT is on it's way to being repealed and torture is no longer practiced by the United States - notice this newest idiot got charged very quickly.

And all that in under a year. Oh and I almost forgot Health Reform! (and look for a lot to change in that bill in the next few weeks - there are ways to go around the Senate filibuster and straight to a majority vote - www.avocadojungle.com - http://avocadojungle.com/2009/12/admin/the-fate-of-a-merged-bill-what-happens-next-in-the-health-care-vote )”

Obama Won't Push Equal Rights Law in the Right Direction

Commented Dec 22, 2009 at 13:39:30 in Politics

“Why are we surprised at Obama's lack of interest or leadership regarding gay rights when he went to the Saddleback Church to win over Rick Warren and his following by throwing gays under the bus during his campaign? It was clear to me that when he started his answer about gay rights in that interview by saying "I believe marriage should be between a man and and a woman" and he did it in that forum to get the votes, he capitulated on gay rights. “Unions are not the problem or the solution. It is simply the goal of all corporations to employ the cheapest labor they can get. Globalization has led us to a point where there is no longer a need to hire here in the US when there are so many cheaper solutions abroad. The added fuel for doing this is that as you boost these huge burgeoning economies with jobs, cheap ones at that, you are effectively creating mega middle classes to sell product to. Our economy is overspent and jobless because of this. All our corporate giants want to get a hold of the India and China markets and embed as quickly as possible. Why should they care about the US--we buy at walmart and they have it sewed up. In the meantime our jobs are drying up and we are a dustbowl economy. Someday soon, little Jimmy will come home from college or tech school and say, Mom, Dad! I just got a job in Vietnam!!!”

Sartre Meets Afghanistan: Obama's "No Exit" Strategy

Commented Dec 08, 2009 at 15:05:52 in World

“This has always been the Obama method--say what they want to hear--throw them a bone, then do turn around and do and say whatever you want and ignore the fallout. This is evidenced exactly by the idea that he was NOT going to be a war president, but he does this. He said he was closing gitmo, but then he really did not, but it made a nice headline. He says he cares about gay rights, but then he does not eliminate DADT. He says he is going to help the little guy, but he packs his administration with the crooks and he bails out Wall Street. It goes on and on. He used this ploy over and over and over in his campaign and it worked so many times. He started his presidency out with these great headlines and got great media play and then zip---no action and no explanation and on to the next lie. And so those of us who have been seeing this for what it is, know that he just went back to the old, trusty playbook, but gee whiz, it doesn't work anymore. There are two sayings that come to mind here: "A leopard doesn't change it's spots" and "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." We will see him decline in stature and just wait for a Republican moderate to win the next election. What a shame.”

“I think his over-reaching, under-performing is already epic and the next election is already baked into the cake. The dem's are split (mainly over Obama, although there are several other names for the split right now); he doesn't lead, he definitely doesn't follow....apparently he WAS dithering over delivering this message, because any of us could have come up with the whole so-called strategy (maybe it's really a strategerie) in about one night--so we get to see him pony up big ideas on job creation that have more to do with taxes and banking, big ideas on peace that have to do with war, I can't really go on...I can't say how disappointing this man is, and eventually, how destructive his administration will prove to have been. he's opening the door for just about anything, and thinking all the time that he's some kind of savior.”

Also, does it strike you that she had no choice in this matter because she was on the phone for 10 minutes and nobody came to help her. I think that there are more and more bold actions being taken by predators of women these days that make it imperitve for women to be equipped with shotguns for home defense. We can almost be sure of what the outcome would have been if this woman did not shoot this guy. She would have been another grim statistic and a story line for CSI TV.”

Americans Are Not Oxymorons: Reflections On President Obama's Afghanistan Plans

Commented Nov 30, 2009 at 03:31:44 in Politics

“I have been wondering how the friends of Obama would spin this racheting up of the war into something intellectual and studied. Afterall, this is the man they want to see, rather than the man he really is, which is that of a mediocre leader at best. I have seen the speeches and how he "knew" that Iraq was the wrong vote. I knew he would have been right there with them on voting for the war if he had been in an actual position to have to vote, or maybe he would have voted "present". But now that the rubber is meeting the proverbial road, he is studied and is called the "thinking man's president" a man of great courage that he worries and frets about making decisions. Well, it takes courage to end a war that cannot be won and to say no to the support of another Vietnam. He will just move forward with this and dither and fret and blame his predessor rather than making the right call, which would be to let the region go, protect our borders, cut taxes to business, make alt. energy a priority, and meanwhile, drill baby drill. He will do more of the same and we will be there for another 20 years wasting our time, money, and lives.”

Commented Nov 23, 2009 at 13:00:47 in Business

“We must allow business to prosper by cutting taxes. Let's start with the smaller zones of industry--the mom and pop areas of business and shore these up with tax incentives and tax cuts. We need to create jobs and job stability in the vast areas of this country where we have no industry. For government, we need to engage in a discussion about having a tiered system of funding. Perhaps a three-tiered system of funding high=priority services, such as fire safety, security safety, military, energy, water, medical, agricultural, and education. We fund these as top-tier priorities. The second tier would be less critical need focus areas and then the third tier would be for the less critical need areas of focus. When the economy is flush with money, all three tiers are funded, when it is not flush with money, we fund the top first, then the second and lastly the third. I am tired of all the spreading around of money to unimportant and frivolous things. We need a new plan that looks at the funding in a critical way, by need, and we go from there. If state governments did this too, we'd probably find that we are in better shape with a more realistic method for moving this economy forward.”

There is no issue with the facts that he presents and so it is with great regret that I say he has a point or two and it threatens the Obama political machinery enough to warrant a full frontal assault on Beck's program as well as his network. No Difference Between President Obama and Candidate Obama

Commented Nov 05, 2009 at 11:44:50 in Politics

“The bigger they are the harder they fall...and so it goes. Obama was just a symptom of a Bush legacy. We were looking for something as far from a Bush legacy as we could find and there Obama was. Whether or not he would be enough to do anything for us, it really did not matter. He was simply a figurehead of something we wanted to believe in. Now in retrospect, we can see that a more moderate persona with greater experience and power in Washington might very well have been the better choice for moving the critical focus areas along. I believe that we missed the boat on Clinton this time around and that it would have been a far greater thing to have her in office. The one thing I recall Obama saying in the debate was something about not being detail oriented in terms of the way he would run his White House. His version of exectutive expression was big picture and not hands on. I recall Hillary saying that her executive style would be entirely different. She was a roll up your sleeves, hands on exectutive. I think we need a more hands on exectutive approach from our President, but I don't believe he is capable and because he is delegating policy as well as decision-making to Rahm and others, he is like a boat without a sail. It's all very predictable as to what happens to boats without sails in the ocean...”

Nothing open or transparent as we maybe thought we'd have. I'd call this White House the team that governs from the BLOG, which is vast and shallow.
