PC Whiners Aside, Downey Jr. Deserves His Oscar Nod
Commented Jan 23, 2009 at 20:48:04 in Entertainment
“As a black man I need to say that I thought Robert Downey's performance in Tropic Thunder was absolutely brilliant. There would have been no way anyone could tell that he was a white man playing a black man if it hadn't been established at the beginning. Just like Heath Ledger, he was lost in his role to the point where the actor as a man was nowhere to be found and all that remained was the character.”

“As a black woman who saw Tropic Thunder for the 1st time yesterday I loved RDJr! I thought his portrayal was great. I mean it wasn't a satire or commentary about black men as much as it was about crazy actors and the whole Hollywood game. RDJr wasn't doing black-face at all...like he said he was just playing a dude, pretending to be a dude, playing another dude.
I also thought Tom Cruise was brilliant as Stu (?) in the hairy fat suit. And I haven't heard that heavy set, hairy, white men weren't offended by his performance!
My only quip was the use of the word "retard" repeat idly. But taken in context with how dysfunctional all the actors/performers were I let it slide.”

Obama Continues Fox News Pushback
Commented Oct 28, 2008 at 08:53:11 in Media
“Wow how many times did she say "fair and balanced"? It absolutely astonishes me that Fox continually defends the notion that they are the ONLY news organization that reports it straight. If I was a newsman that would outrage me because they're telling every other news organization that they can't do their job.”

Two Candidates Walk into a Bar...
Commented Oct 17, 2008 at 11:52:30 in Politics
“At the end of the day it showed both candidates as who they really are. Two people who see the world differently but that doesn't make either of them bad. I think Obama's set was funnier by far. I think he killed. The one thing that made me wince with Obama was the celebrity punching the paparazzi bit that seemed really forced. And with McCain his line about Bill Clinton and the Zoroastrian new year that was too cool for the room (and dare I say "elitist"?) But a good night for both candidates I think.”
Barack Obama's Worrisome Campaign
Commented Oct 05, 2008 at 16:46:10 in Politics
“Right, and how long did he not wear a lapel pin before he finally wore one? Because God knows there weren't questions bombarding him everywhere concerning his patriotism because of it. And the Jeremiah Wright thing, because everyone knows that it was his job to screen everything everyone he ever knew said before he started running for president, even before he knew he was running for president. Why didn't Obama do something about that before hand? And also Senator Clinton who, before Obama came along, the MSM had her picking out drapes for the White House, why wasn't this little known Illinois senator able to just knock out the well known and respected wife of one of our better presidents? . Mr. Ridley might want a president who doesn't want to consider all aspects of the situation and who is flexible and adaptable to the multitude of problems that will face the American people in the coming years. Mr. Ridley might not care that the world pretty much can't stand and doesn't trust America or her leaders but there are some of us who do and we've decided that's it's not important for a president to prove to the world that he has the biggest balls. Who will be the better leader for America in these troubled times? That's a no-brainer.

Why This Election is So Close
Commented Sep 19, 2008 at 21:03:14 in Politics
“Obama said he would go through the federal budget and cut the useless wasteful programs which will provide money plus the added taxing of the rich because let's face it, they can afford it which will also help. Add to that the fact that he wants to implement some regulatory measures on Wall Street so that this idiocy doesn't happen again which will help to protect the money that's already there. And hey if you can find any solution that John McCain proposes that doesn't involve, "drill", "maverick", "reform" or "POW" then I'm sure we'd all love to hear it. Hell if you can provide any solution John McCain proposes to anything we'd all love to hear it.”

Why Replacing Biden With Hillary Makes Perfect Sense for Obama

“The Republicans beat us everytime because no matter what they remain united. We as voters will get Obama into the White House. Or we as voters will allow McCain to steal it. Support Obama completely like the Republicans support McCain. Stop nitpicking and criticising everything that he does that isn't picture perfect to what you think he ought to do and convince someone that is on the fence why he is the better candidate. Barack said that "We are the ones we have been waiting for." And he's right.”

Dead on! Getting Democrats to unite has always been a lot like herding cats. But, this year, if often felt like Obama was actually having to fight on two fronts: one was McCain, and the other was the PUMA nuts. Even after the convention, I find dissenting voices among Democrats now and then complaining. We are in the fight to the finish and everybody from the rank and file members to those in power (Hillary are you out there????) need to put everything we have in winning this election! Folks, it's for all the marbles. You may not agree with everything Obama says, but I honestly believe we lose this one and we will end up fondly remembering George W during the next 4 years.

“Didn't the democrats choose a woman to be vice president over 20 years ago? What dark ages are you talking about? What the republicans are doing is nothing new just like McCains new (old) mantra of change. You swallowed his garbage hook line and sinker refusing to see it for what it is which is him throwing the chicks a bone despite the fact that this woman and Hillary are NOTHING alike but because Palin's a woman that means the Republicans should be applauded for doing something the democrats already did over two decades ago. It's people like you who care more about gender roles than the future of this failing country are the embodiment of the problem.”

It is unfortunate that Obama is fighting against his own. Right now my family and I are saving money-and storing enough food, in the event the Republicans win office. Honestly, we can not wait for the Clintons-people need to plan to prepare for the best and worst. If Americans are that ignorant, then they deserve what is coming to our country.”

Dems wring their hands and whine at the slightest provocation. The other party is united behind the nominee.
While I agree that Hillary could do more, I feel like she probably won't. In fact they are just picking up the ball on her gender identity strategy and running with it.
The way to win is to stay calm, stay united and register new voters.”

“As long as Palin wants to hide the press then let her. Obama needs to re-enforce that McCain is the one people will be voting for. Keep slamming the point home that Ameircan believes that things suck and McCain voted for the massive suck and that won't change. Heck there's a catchline against McCain.
"80% of Ameircans believe that the country is on the wrong track. John McCain voted with George Bush 90% of the time to put us on the wrong track. If he gets into office THAT WON'T CHANGE"”

Anyone with half a brain will not be fooled by Palins definite hotness and will see that she's just a Geraldine Ferraro 2008. Obama Should Stop Lecturing African Americans

“It astonishes me just how quickly someone in the african american community gets jumped on when they tell other black people to stop acting like they expect us to. They did it to Bill Cosby and now they're doing it to Obama. What is right and proper still remains right and proper and if there is nothing that threatens the notion of white supremacy more a nation of black people all doing what is right and proper. They'd rather blacks keep acting ignorant but Obama is sick of that crap and quite frankly so are a lot of black people. So it's time for blacks to man the f--k up and do what is right and proper.”
