Christians Vote on the Worst Verse in the Bible

Commented Oct 04, 2009 at 03:27:03 in Living

“ALL religions are Man-Made constructs concocted in antiquity from prevailing superstitions incorporating the myths, symbols, representations of forces, idols, cults, fears, anxieties, desires etc. Man’s search for meaning and desire to define the unknown is strong. Fear of the unknown and Hope for a better future are strong motivators. Someone came up with the concept of the Carrot at the End of a Stick. Convincing masses of people of a ‘Future’ reward for following the ‘Code’ allowed for the manipulation of masses and taxes for public projects and armies to protect the way of life of the Leaders and a daily ration of Beer and a Loaf of Bread for the Led. Sound Familiar?

Lawyers sat down to encode the ‘legalities’ in order to stack the deck for the privileged few that were part of the ‘original’ Fraternity. Unfortunately the human need to rule/power seeps in and seeks to hijack the group/fraternity from the established leaders. When they made ‘mistakes’ that did not suit their agenda they simply moved the ‘Goal Post’ as necessary to suit their wishes/needs. Double Standards were born. Double/Speak. Every so called 'Holly' book has been edited and reedited to subjugate women and justify other madness too.

Can anyone own God if there is such an entity?”

“I am a Veteran and I love my VA Medical Services. I have a Personal Physician that knows me, I know her. I have regular yearly check ups. I can Walk In although I seldom have to ( I have not had to visit Emergency Room in Years!)since I am In Control and Engaged in my Personal Well Being! I have a Dietitian that has Coached/Educated to avoid Cholesterol a little more so I now have Healthy Levels! If the local VA/Carl T. Hayden PHX does not do a procedure they send me to a Private Hospital or Doctor. We have a Patient Bill of Rights AND Responsibilities posted on the hallway and an Open Door Policy with a Patient Representative in case we have any concerns. My Blood Boils when I hear the criticism of the Veterans Hospitals. Are they perfect? Is your Doctor/Hospital Perfect?

As it turns out NeoCons and GreedBags in Wall Street have done far more for the cause of Socialism than Che Guevara or any other Figure Advocating Some Social Order.

If Ayn Rand saw the Bail Outs that have occurred (Thank You Bush & Co!) She would have a Stroke on The Spot!!

“Every conflict is costly to ALL . The human cost including; the lasting damage to our collective soul, and that of successive generations. Material gains always negate any gain envisioned by the participants. The lasting resentments, that often lead to other wars by the same victors/vanquished, both of whom felt forced to arms. In an ever shrinking world with finite resources, and a rapidly expanding population, we can no longer afford the luxury of not learning from our mistakes.

In my estimation, despite over 10,000 years of what we refer to as civilization, we have not progressed one iota from the concept of a marauding Gangsters. One of the most infamous gangsters in history, Joseph Stalin is quoted as saying; 'They attacked us like gangsters' referring to Hitler's Operation Barbarosa.
'God' has been used to justify the killing of 'infidels' by ALL religions. How ironic that merciful 'Gods' have been USED to perpetuate pain and suffering on so many.
The motto 'Gott Mit Uns' was used by Nazi elite units during WW2, stamped on their belt buckles it translates to; God is with US!

All power comes with commensurate responsibility. We must learn to promptly recognize when we are wrong, and follow that acknowledgement with a just correction. This ability is VIRTUE, strength, and not a weakness. We need to overcome primitive emotions or perish. If the moral reasons don't convince us, consider the fact that avoiding WAR is always cost effective.”

“Growth, growth, growth...
We are in the year 2009 NOT 1949. We are entering an era where population growth, restless masses, greed at an unprecedented scale, religions run amok, an ever shrinking pool of resources is telling us in no uncertain terms... This is not the naive 1950's when production, production, mining, third world labor buoyed developed countries economies.
WE all must WAKE UP!
Unsustainable Lifestyles are just that UNSUSTAINABLE. We can fix this! BUT We will have to embrace a Paradigm Shift. PARADIGM SHIFT Look it up!
We cannot afford to allow religious dogma, and, power grabs to turn us against each other, to stifle planned parenthood, prevention of STD's, recycling programs, green technologies etc. etc.”

If capitalism is to succeed, it needs to be more aligned with human needs, not an endless stream of gadgets and bling. Unsustainable the way it is and detrimental to society.

Unfortunately that will require the rich and corporations to embrace a philosophy that is at odds with the current one and also one that they don't want to embrace.

In the end the response of the Bush Administration (Cheney&Co?) has in fact made us infinitely less safe on so many levels. Jihad could not have been handed a more effective recruiting tool. It's as if we had sent them a Panamax brimming with Steroids. Our economy has not been helped by the current and future cost of the Iraq Fiasco. Our Army/Marines are taxed to the point that we would be in serious problems if they had to respond to another crisis.

What happens when in responding to an evil doer you become what you despise?

Had our intelligence community been more interested in serving the American People rather than being concerned about who would get to put a "Feather in their Cap" , it could have been prevented. In my view we are victims of the egos of those in charge of the CIA and the FBI. The money that is allocated to those agencies is insane.

On the other hand, what happened after 911 is another thing altogether. Do I need to repeat the details on why we had not business occupying Iraq? Uff! Thank You

Homeland Security was a great idea because as callous and arrogant as our foreign policy is, never mind the lame efforts by our Secretary of State to pursue much progress to capitalize on the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, someone was going to let us know that bigger and meaner empires have fallen.
