“There is no amount of money that you could pay a person to make up for robbing them of 35 years. Having said that, 1.75 million doesn't seem like enough. Stories like this drive me crazy. They didn't just steal years, they stole experiences, family interactions, children he might have had, women he might have loved. He hasn't had a normal relationship in 35 years. When I joined the army, boot camp was 8 weeks long. I felt cut off from the world. After completing boot camp my family asked me what I wanted to do, and I asked to go to the mall, to the movies, just off base. I just wanted to be around people, and that was just 8 weeks.
I hope this man is able to have a very nice life after all he has been through. He deserves it.”

“I agree with you 100%. I am so tired of this BS - where men like these have been put away during the prime years of their lives for crimes they did not commit. Apologies and money cannot begin to repay what they have lost. Thank G-d Mr. Bain is not bitter, otherwise he would not be able to embrace his newfound freedom.”

“The people I'm thinking of are get tens, hundreds, sometimes millions of dollars for pics of their kids. I don't know how much you were offered, but I seriously doubt that most people would turn down the kind of money celebrities are offered for the pictures. Think about what you could do with the money. Your kids college education taken care of with a couple pictures? I can't see myself turning that down. I just don't see the big deal about the pictures. Babies pretty much look alike anyway. They could be using "stunt" babies for all we know.”

“When a family has that many kids, I don't blame them for doing what they have to do to support their families. I don't see it as being any different than being a child actor or model. As long as a large portion of the money gets set aside for their futures. So, the answer to your question is that I don't see anything wrong with those families you mentioned selling pics, just as long as the kids get to see the benefit of it.”
