Super Committee Member Jon Kyl Turns Eye Towards Saving Pentagon From Trigger Cuts

Super Committee Member Jon Kyl Turns Eye Towards Saving Pentagon From Trigger Cuts

Commented Nov 20, 2011 at 19:30:25 in Politics

“Kyl could have avoided the agreed upon triggered cuts, and could have ended this fiasco weeks ago if he had only mustered the courage to speak up for a tax-rate hike for billionaires. He's been nonsensicle too long to be taken seriously now!”

Paul Krugman Sends Wonderful Secret Message To 'Centrist Pundits'

Commented Nov 18, 2011 at 12:03:13 in Media

“Krugman is absolutely right! It is indeed a sad commentary on the sorry state of Congress when “failure” is the best solution we can possibly hope to achieve! However, let’s hope they fail!

In this historic time of a worldwide recession, the GOP’s ideological No-Tax fanaticism is a danger to us all. The fact that 275 “serving” GOP public-servants have signed Grover’s insidious cult-like pledge is itself appalling to our senses. It's a failure of sanity! The fact that all GOP Super Committee members are signers of that declaration of lunacy is unfathomable. This is truly a committee that’s playing with only half-a-deck. There can be no hope for any reasonable, rational, logical or sensible compromise.

A colossal failure of the Super Committee is the best foreseeable outcome. Let’s hope that hope springs eternal!”

“RE: “Rebuild our pot-holed highways. Create a world-class infrastructure. Pay for this by hiking taxes on millionaires.”

What a terrific idea!

Unfortunately, the U.S. Congress is paralyzed by a gang of fanatical tea-partiers and traitorous pledge-signers. This insanity has caused a super-failure of the Supercommittee! All SIX GOP members of the Supercommittee have obligingly kissed-up to the Devil Norquist!

Since surrendering their freedom of choice to Grover, the GOP acts like a surreal collection of puppet-like automatons, all walking in lockstep, all eerily speaking the same words, and all with no real sense of common sense! These Norquistians have drunk the Kool-Aid; they’re frighteningly spooky; and they are blatantly derelict in performing their duties as public-servants.

America is doomed!”

“Re: "The Congress is largely dysfunctional..."

...because their are too many Republicans; and especially because there are too many irrational, unreasonable, arrogant and obstinate Republicans. Point of fact: The Committee was doomed by the fact that all 6 of the GOP members are proud pledge-signers of the Norquist "Nonsense-ical-No-tax-not-now-not-ever" Club.

Congress Struggling With Super Committee Business, Spending Bills

Commented Nov 8, 2011 at 11:21:02 in Politics

“The Speaker of the peoples’ House has said that any proposal that increases taxes is “unacceptable and a non-starter.”

Consequently, nothing meaningful can get started until Boehner publicly shreds his insidiously stupid Grover Norquist pledge card. The fact that 274 other GOP members of Congress have reportedly also joined Grover’s “Mickey Mouse Club,” is a national embarrassment. These pledge-signing groupies have dishonored the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress.

Only when new revenues can again become an "acceptable" consideration for balancing a budget can congressional sanity be resurrected!”

The Great Deflation

Commented Nov 7, 2011 at 13:22:04 in Business

“Unfortunately, the Republicans don’t have a candidate nearly as intelligent, or as capable as, Herbert Hoover to offer up as the next presider-in-chief!

However, as George Bush has demonstrated, the GOP has groomed a gaggle of candidates knowledgeable in the Bush ideology, which has been proven to drag a booming economy, with a trillion-dollar budget surplus “downward into a self-deepening sinkhole.” That, they surely can do!”

JustDavid on Nov 7, 2011 at 14:13:38

“Right. And Herbert Hoover wasn't nearly as intelligent as a fence post. But if we elected a fence post today we would wake up the next morning to realize it had sold out to the oily banksters.”

Millennial Voters Still Support Obama, But Enthusiasm Has Waned

Commented Nov 5, 2011 at 12:29:59 in Politics

“Sadly, it is true that America’s children and grandchildren have been victimized by a worldwide economic decline. Not only has President Obama himself been a victim of world events, but he has been unpatriotically undermined by self-serving political job-killing-saboteurs--and he has been subjected to unmerciful personal attacks by birther-bigots and other hate groups.

America's Millennial Voters are savvy enough to understand that the key to economic growth and employment will require their collective votes in support of Obama’s Jobs Bill--and voting "pink-slips" for congressional obstructionists! Deviously orchestrated acts of hateful political gridlock will not be tolerated by voters of any age group.”

BIGTERRA on Nov 5, 2011 at 13:08:53

“Obama a victim? Oh, yes...he has become a victim of his own ignorance and arrogance! Can you believe that a supposed Constitutional scholar and lecturer on the Constitution doesn't know what is in it...and that he has the gall to decide which laws he will obey and implement?

Obama, former Constitutional Lecturer at U of Chicago, in a recent speech quotes from the Costitution...only what he quoted was not from the constitution but from the Bill or Rights!
http://www.breitbart.tv/did-obama-confuse-the-constitution-with-the-declaration-of independence/

And what of Obama's jobs bill? Not one, NOT ONE democrat will sponsor it! Doesn't that tell you something about that bill? More than that, Harry Reid - a democrat last I heard - has prevented Obama's bill from coming to the senate floor for discussion and vote! Why is Harry expending so much effort to kill that bill? There's where your " Deviously orchestrated acts of hateful political gridlock..." have really taken place...ith Harry Reid!”

“Thank you, Occupiers!

The world, will be watching the Super Committee in expectation of a real demonstration of shared sacrifice—a fair and balanced blend of spending cuts and revenue increases. The insidious obstructionist tactics of Norquistian-Republicans must end, before faith and trust in Congress can be restored. Super Committee members, who have abdicated their oaths of office by signing Grover’s irresponsible pledge, should be required to publicly shred their pledges! Only then can honesty, decency and fairness begin to re-OCCUPY CONGRESS!”

“Right ON! Don't mess with old folks. Increasing the Medicare eligibility age is not a "healthy" consideration, but allowing a "buy-in" option at age 55 should be reconsidered!

Revenue increases MUST be part of the solution, and "fairness" by definition must include a tax rate increase on 1%-ers!

The world of AARP will be watching to see if sanity will finally OCCUPY CONGRESS!”

“What part of no tax increases do you and the rest of the democrats not get? Cut the spending is the way out of debt, not increasing the burden on the taxpayer! Get rid of the excess baggage in government (EPA, OSHA, DOE, et.al.) if it has an acronym, scrap it!”

Super Congress Getting Even More Super Powers In Debt Deal

Commented Aug 15, 2011 at 17:36:16 in Politics

“Harry Reid warned. "It will be essential to choose members with minds willing to consider every option, even when the options are tough pills to swallow for both parties...Cooperation is the only way forward. Compromise is the only way forward." However, it would be more encouraging to hear those same words from the mouth of Mitch McConnell!

To paraphrase Tom Friedman, never trust "... anyone stupid enough to sign a pledge—thereby abdicating their governing responsibilities..." The Republican Party has been taken over by a cult-like pack of pledge-signing groupies. The GOP acts like a bunch of mindless robots—they all say the same things, even use the same exact words. They’re dysfunctionally spooky!”

The Stock Market Dove Because of the Debt Deal, Not S&P

Commented Aug 8, 2011 at 17:52:07 in Business

“WOW! Thanks to frenzied Republican fanatics, today, American families, their pensions and their retirement investments have lost a whopping TRILLION DOLLARS in value! In the eyes of S&P, this Young Guns’ mutiny, lead by old fogies Boehner and McConnell, has triggered a shockwave of stupidity heard around the world!

The crazed act of holding a rational and reasonable debt-ceiling increase as ransom, in exchange for a package of economically depressive, Job-Killing spending cuts, amid the throes of a struggling global economy, was too stupid to be overlooked—especially since this same gang of cowboys have both gloated over their devious success, and pledged a near-term November do-over. S&P smartly recognizes the danger of their stupidity!

Congressional Republicans have violated the hallowed principle of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution: “The validity of the public debt...shall not be questioned.” Congressional Republicans have recklessly endangered the fiscal stability and national security of the United States. Congressional Republicans have done irreparable harm to America!”

Obama Won't Extend Bush Tax Cuts Again: Pledge To House Dems

Commented Jun 3, 2011 at 10:53:16 in Politics

“Certainly, no living, thinking human being can believe that the Republican insanity of demanding massive immediate spending cuts as the price of raising the debt limit, is anything other than the tactical means of effecting the GOP strategy--as publicly proclaimed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell--for ensuring that Barack Obama is only a one-term President. And, certainly no one should be surprised that they would be so insidiously hateful as to do all in their power to force a U.S. default, if they even think that this blackmail might possibly succeed.

President Obama is absolutely correct: The Bush tax-cut (upper-bracket) must NOT be renewed again! Revenue generation is crucial to correction of the irresponsible actions of the Bush era. That any elected official would both sign a pledge to never raise revenues, and force unrealistic spending cuts--under threat of default--is an abuse of power beyond all rational comprehension. Unfortunately, the GOP is up to this evil task. Fortunately, the President has pledged to act presidentially.”

U.S. Reaches Debt Limit, Geithner Warns Of Dire Consequences

“If the GOP scare tactics succeed in forcing the U.S. into default, what will the likely near-term impact be on what little is left of our 401-k's, our Pension Funds, and any meager personal Savings and Investments that we’ve salvaged?

Let’s never forget that it was the frivolous Bush Tax Cuts, compounded by a series of irresponsible un-funded budget "Supplementals" that decimated multi-billions of Clinton budget dollar surpluses, and lead to the horrific recession, the financial crisis and market crash.

The smartest first step for correcting the Bush Era tax-cut miscalculations is to rescind the upper-bracket (millionaires') tax-cut.”
