Why We Need Even More Stimulus
Commented Nov 06, 2009 at 16:19:04 in Business
“Every depression and recession was solved by gov't spending. Sorry to bust your bubble.
End tax cuts. They do NOTHING to stimulate the economy. Almost half of the stimulus was tax cuts; worthless!
Save the states from bankruptcy. If we can bail out banks, we can bail out our states.
MASSIVE spending in energy research, infrastructure, high-speed rail, and construction of MORE SCHOOLs; from K-12 to community colleges and universities.
I agree, raise taxes on the very rich. They got fat during the Clinton/Bush years; time for them to pay back to society.
More loans and cheap health insurance to small businesses.
Complete moratorium for at least 6 months on foreclosures. FORCE banks to re-fi those in trouble w/lower, fixed interest rates.
This is rocket science!”

RULE #1...do NOT talk over and over about your ex'es. Unless he asks, but don't give out too much detail.
Men are stupid and will ask for TOO much info about your past and then later resent you as some slut or something.
I think we test you to see how much you are willing to divulge, but then we later hate that we know so much so soon.”

“People give up much info about themselves in their daily behavior. How they move, the way they talk, What they do with their eyes and faces. Body language says a lot about a person as well as speaks to what they think of themselves. When a person goes through their entire life believing that they way they are is perfectly normal, they can be totally unaware of how that very behavior comes across to others. Someone who hang around in bars employs the use of curse words every other sentence or even other word, they think it's completely normal, People who hang around in bars are also given to smoking and drinking alot and so just by watching the way they handle a glass of water or light up a cigarette tells you something. The way they are watching other people and become so engrossed in what they are doing they don't even notice when someone is paying attention to their doing that. Dress, tells you a lot as well. By that I mean that people with certain moral values will often dress in ways that reflect their life choices. Body ornamentation is yet another clue. And these are only a few ways to learn people. Some people say that you can't and or shouldn't stereotype people. I have found that the ones who say that most often are those who are stereotypical and they know it. They just don't like being pigeonholed.”

“Hmm...well ...better late than never.
As a rabid Obama supporter, I have to question what "Experience" means. There's wisdom from experience and stubborness from experience. There's also judgement from experience.
RE: Biden...he may have bonafides on foreign policy, but I have to question a few things:
1) his stance AGAINST the Persian Gulf War, and
2) his stance FOR the Iraq War.
He's a great guy, but sitting in committees and meeting heads of state does not necessarily make your foreign policy experience worthwhile.
John McCain has the same credentials, but has an even worse outlook and judgement regarding foreign policy.
So to me...exper ience means nothing to me. Heck, Obama will have more elected, political experience going into the Oval Office than Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan.
Maybe those aren't good examples since I don't regard Ronald Reagan a great President on domestic policy (heck, anyone could buy on credit and look rich and well off), but turned out to be decent on foreign policy. And Ronald Reagan's experience of Governor surely didn't help him on that front.
But you cannot ignore that Obama not only could be an excellent President on foreign policy, but he could turn this sinking ship around and afloat domestically AND can provide the inspiration and hope for the next Generation to inherit a country that to me, the "Greatest Generation" and "Boomers" has squandered and destroyed through massive debt, and a polluted earth due to selfishness and greed.”

“In fairness to Latinos, it's not just Latinos who say they don't know enough about Obama. The sad news is that a lot of Americans just don't pay attention, which is why we have one of the lowest % of voting in the world of democracies. Hell, 12% of Americans still think Obama is a Muslim, which anyone with an IQ higher than room temp should know is a lie, even if they only read the National Inquirer and get all their news from Faux News.
Having said that, that's what campaigns are about if you're new to the scene and that's why Obama's ability to raise money is so important, to educate people who could be educated without ads if they would just read a decent newspaper once a day. It's sad, but true.”

“I very much appreciate your comment and your close attention to this post, but I think it would be a mistake to interpret this as "them" asking "us" to pander to them. (And I'm always suspicious whenever someone says that some "they" should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps. It just sounds so ... Republican .)
Campaigns are primarily communicatORS -- voters are primarily communicatEES. (Is that a word?) Voters have something that candidates want, so candidates are the ones knocking on doors, not the other way around. Even when the communication is two-way, the campaigns generally initiate it. So all campaigns have organized efforts to reach out to various constituencies, and it's to their benefit when someone points out if those efforts fall a little short.
And, as Liza Sabater pointed out in the conference call, there are Latino activists -- community organizers like Obama used to be and similar people -- who are willing to start working for Obama but apparently aren't being used in a coherent fashion, which is bad both for Obama (who could use their help to improve his performance with Latino voters) and for Latino progressives (who would like the chance to start building relationships with the probable President that could pay off for their communities later on, if only in the form of better understanding of Latino issues by the new Administration).
So I don't see whining here; I see a sophisticated petition for redress of grievances, which is the way politics works.”
