Gay Rights Speech: What Should Obama Say Tonight?
Commented Oct 07, 2009 at 19:38:36 in Politics
“I don't know about the word tolerating. It just seems like one has to put up with something they might not necessarily like. I would rather use the word respect. Until we learn to respect each other and I do agree with you about this being a civil rights issue. I use to get offended when GLBT would compare their struggle to African Americans, but I come to realize that people being mistreated is wrong regardless if they are being hung from a tree of tide to a fence, either of them is not right.”

“Tolerate simply means to allow the existence of.
It doesn't mean you like it. It doesn't mean you respect it.”

“Amen! Well said. The honeymoon is over folks. Obama needs to start maning up. Because these whack jobs on the right are playing offense. We need to be on the offense and not reacting. Hopefully somebody in Obama's circle is paying attention to what Bill Maher is saying because he is speaking the truth.”

“Oh and don't forget Secretary Clinton. Don't even try and pretend like she didn't do anything. She played a bigger role than Obama and you know it. Because if Obama was so involved in this then we have a problem. No offense but this was just two Americans and the president has more pressing matters (a whole host of them) to deal with.”

“Your right the center of this financial mes we are in... now Washington has to come in and babysit a bunch of greedy (and if I wasn't a Christian I would us other words) people. That is the problem with you people you think you are important and your not. NY or LA both are over rated and the real place of importance is Washington D.C. The other two are self absorbed. The only difference is LA has much better weather.”

He has done some of the most horrendous acts in this nations history!”

“Who are you to make these comments. You are not personally friends or even live on the same block as this woman to make such judgments. You get your information on Senator Clinton just like most of us and that is through the media. You talk about living in reality why don't you live in reality and quit pretending like you know this woman and what type of person she is because you don't! You probably don't even know your significant other that well. Sorry I was not dismayed by Senator Clinton, this woman came from modest means and she will go down in history while you will be lucky if your own grandchildren will remember you. So instead of being so negative about this woman use that energy for the common good... I am sure you have some volunteer groups in your community that you can use that energy for. So why don't you quit throwing roses on the pile of pooh you call a life and say it's sweet and get out there and clean that mess up and make something of yourself!”

I am Black and I am offended each time I hear this bradley effect put forth as an argument in this election.
What of all of those White people who have worked and donated and traveled and campaigned to get Barack Obama into office.
Have endorsed him against their own party?
Do you honestly believe that the majority of those people just lied to not appear racist?
IMO, THAT is the racist sentiment.
People of all colors support Obama. Will there be a few who lied? Of course.
Enough to deny him the presidency? I will believe that on Nov. 5th.”

Why This "Hillary Holdout" Is Backing Barack
Commented Aug 28, 2008 at 23:29:16 in Politics
“This is why there are still hold outs... not because of Senator Obama but because of some of his ignorant supporters who really don't have a clue to what is going on. What I found funny was a lot of you people were bashing the Clinton's for weeks and when both of them came out and gave fantastic speech's in support of Obama, I notice very few apologies for the assumptions that were made about President and Senator Clintons. The Obama supporters just need to learn to shut up and realize at the end of the day we have no clue to what is going on behind close doors and pretending we do makes us look stupid and foolish.”
peascott replied on Aug 28, 2008 at 23:56:27
“I'm not sure why there are still Hillary holdouts. The choice between Obama and McCain are simple.
I becoming a little tired of hearing about the holdouts. WHAT do they want Obama to do? WHY would anyone who considered voting for Hillary CHOOSE to vote for McCain when McCain's policies are TOTALLY different than Hillary's? THAT is where I become frustrated with the holdouts!
As far as the Clinton's conduct, it's hard to forget the final primary and Clintons refusal to concede. It's hard to forget when Bill Clinton was asked a very simple question, "Is Obama ready to be President" and he could only find a convoluted explaintion, not like his speech last night. While both Clintons support and great speeches were appreciated, it's hard to forget what happened, BUT I WILL. Because THIS election is NOT about Hillary and it's NOT about Bill. This elections is about the future of this country. Whether we can stand another 4 more years of the same.I could care less about the holdouts, I'm looking for new voters who want the same thing I want, CHANGE!
So I say to the Hillary holdouts, get on board or move out of the way because I'm going to fight for the change I want. No whinning or complaining on THIS train!”

True, but she did have major influence and was second to none in the talk show cicuit behind Phil Donahue. Her big break through ame in THE COLOR PURPLE, which catapulted her to stardom. So yes, she was not the Oprah we know today, but she certainly had a big voice and devoted followers.
And like I wrote above, maybe she just wasn't feelin' Jesse at that time. But, regardless of color, she is supporting Obama because like she said, the man is brilliant.”
