“Where have you been? You do know that some of our greatest talents fled to France in the '20s to escape racism, most notably Josephine Baker. The French may have some issues now because of recent immigration but I don't think it has anything to do with skin tone based on their history.
I'm assuming the poster before you was referring to herself as a brown American because her skin isn't black.”

“I've been reading posts from people comparing the views of Warren to Wright. It should be known that Trinity has long had a LGBT outreach and welcomes the community to worship. Please know what you're talking about.”

“Are you trying to suggest that the Civil Rights movement was born from violent protest? You obviously need to study civil rights in America.”

“Then you have no idea who Rev. Lowery is and the importance of stance. I would suggest you do a little research on Rev. Lowery and the definition of invocation and benediction.”

“I am quite happy to stand up for myself. What I have a problem with the "vocal" community, is that last week we took an extensive blow. The US blocked a Gay Rights Resolution in the UN. Where is the outrage?!?! It is here over a 2 minute prayer. Where was the action before November 4th?!? It was no where. I mistakenly used majority for minority. Sorry.”

“I worked extremely hard for Obama while most of the community was supporting Clinton. You cannot say the community worked hard for Obama, when most worked against for a good portion of the GE. All you have to do is look at how slow the HRC was to come around. Please don't get it twisted.”

“You are aware that we are included? Why is the community neglecting the fact that Rev. Lowery is giving the benediction?”
rudyinbama replied on Dec 22, 2008 at 23:34:02
“Reverend Lowery is an eighty-seven hero of the Civil Rights movement who has earned his right to be part of this historic inauguration.
Although some statements of his seem to be supportive of marriage equality, he is hardly an activist on this issue – nor should anyone expect him to be.
To speak of him as "balance" for Rick Warren is cynical and demeaning.
Lowery’s presence honors all who have marched, protested, been jailed, and even paid with their lives in the name of racial equality.”

“We are not included. This decision was a very deliberate attempt to give the wink-wink to the homophobes. Obama is no dummy. He never thought, "Gee, right after the passage of prop 8, which I said nothing about, it would be really cruel to have a homophobic preacher who campaigned for the measure give the invocation"? He picked this as his Sister Souljah move. Pure and simple. Obama is so orchestrated, there is no way this was an "honest mistake."”

“Lowery does not "balance" the inauguration.
Do provide "balance", Obama would have to find some famous leader who just helped remove marriage rights from evangelical Christians.”

“Boycott? Is the Gay community ready to topple the California economy by boycotting the entertainment industry? Boycott the California vineyards? I'm Gay and I will tell you this, the community lacks the drive and the organization to do so.”

“There are a lot of gay people who don't give a shit what Warren says. My friends included. As long as he isn't going to sway policy, they don't care. They also think that the fact that Joseph Lowery is going to be there, means that Obama is bringing in people with different opinions. When he said he wanted unity, he meant it.”
NickGuest replied on Dec 22, 2008 at 22:36:28
“Oh please "small majority" is still a majority.
God why is it so hard for Gay people to stand up for themselves.
If someone hits you in the face you don't want two weeks to decide if it hurts or not.”

“This is not a gay community response. It's the response of individuals. All kinds of Obama supporters disagree with Obama on this one. Some choose to make this their line in the sand.
I suspect most people still support Obama but want him to know when they disagree with him. That's the thing about us progressives. We aren't mindless drones, we're not Republicans.”

“I love you even more Melissa, if that is possible. As a Gay male, I have struggled with the "outrage" I am supposed to feel by those that oppose Gay marriage. I, like the President and Pastor Warren, feel that the term "marriage" has blocked us from getting the rights we desire. To me, it is a religious institution and I believe in the separation of church of state. Making all unions civil and allowing people to marry in churches seems logical to me.
I have a intense problem with people dropping the bigot and homophobe comments for those entrenched in religion. It is their faith and I will give them that. No one's mind has never been changed by people yelling at them.”

“I waited in line for about 4 hours at an AT&T store in Philadelphia. I had expectations of there being high traffic on the iTunes servers, so I was not surprised at the in store delays. I was surprised at well Apple and AT&T handled this roll out. The two companies should be commended for what I consider a fantastic unveiling. The service that went into to the day is beyond compare! I do agree that releasing the 2.0 firmware update for existing customers days prior would have alleviated this issue. I had the 1st generation iPhone and have been quite pleased. The price slash for a faster model with twice the space propelled me to be one of the first to get this device. I am quite satisfied with the experience and the iPhone.
P.S.- I would agree that $199 or $299 is a bit much to pay for a phone. But the thing is the iPhone is NOT a phone. It is a literally a computer with internet access that can make phone calls. The device is AMAZING. The new apps that have been developed show a promise of where the market is and should be headed.”
