When I had to sell to move back to the Chicago area to look after a sick aunt, and an elderly mother, all I heard was,"no granite countertops, not enough "curb-appeal", (lack of entry foyer,/facade), not large enough for the kids to not be underfoot". We've been seduced by the advertisers and "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" into some kind of fantasy-land. What ever happened to buying a home to live in and raise a family, rather than "projecting an image"? We have allowed ourselves to be the next Romans.”

“The Unions also negotiated a group rate under $200 a room. The Fountaibbleu in season is usually 400 - 1400 a day. So it seems to me that the union membership would be happy that they ARE staying there. Miami convention hotels in season charge a hell of a lot more than $200.

“what about those that are losing homes because they became expendable when their job was off-shored to India, or China. What about those losing their homes because they lost their medical coverage and their kids, husband, wife became ill? For a majority of Americans, it takes 2 incomes to buy a home. 1 job loss and you're out of the game. We have become a nation whose only production is selling papers to please the shareholders. First it was manufacturing, then data-processing, then back-office. What's next?”

As far as them being tough and "gamey tasting", I can pretty much guarantee that they can be prepared in a fashion that hungry people will eat them. If a farmer requests "nuisance help", offer low income neighborhoods buses and professional help for "driven hunts" to turn wild pigs into dressed meat.”

“NO! This is the kind of idea you get when you go to the GOP for revenue ideas. They will always go for maintaining the status quo. If you need to increase revenue, go where the money is. and that is straight increments in income tax. providing disincentives to increasing mpg is not the way to go. I would consider a hybrid to reduce my gas expense and try to boost the economy(my current car is a '95, gets 25 mpg and is paid for). But then removing the $ incentive for mpg takes that right out of the realm of likelihood. My livelihood is as a computer programmer (unfortunately, legacy systems in the corporate world) and is not likely to continue until retirement age, to "make the stockholders happy". I want to work and be a productive and contributing member of society, but right now I'm running scared and looking out for myself on a day to day basis.”
