“I have been asking on this blog why people voted for Obama and what they expect Obama to accomplish in the next four years. Not one who wrote back could answer these questions. We are dealing with an electorate (half of us) who are clueless. I suggest that most of them voted on a single issue (free birth control pills/condoms, gay marriage, illegal rights, black racism), while some voted for him because they see him a cool, a rock star. Others voted for him for the goodies, freebies and welfare he offered. Oh gosh, what a nation and what a misdirected group of Americans.”

Of course, raising taxes on the rich won't do much to solve our deficit, either.
Spending has been out of control. Therefore, we have to make big spending cuts.”

Cooperation and love of country wll go along way... Get the Tea Baggers the hell out of the way and make room for common sense and understanding....
A hatchet to the budget will not work.... a careful, painful carving may be what's needed but what we dont need is hateful, mean spirited approach....
Remove people like the "Unelected Norquist", a paid lobbyist... Mitch McConnell, mean, evil, racist..... Cantor/Ryan.... hard core tea baggers that believe in Ayn Rand the atheist.... Huckabee, the imposter, Christian.....Kly, King, Graham, etc... so many hateful men in power......”

Unemployment rose under Bush also with millions of jobs outsourced but one of the most crippling things to our government was his tax cut. The liar said he could continue paying down the national debt and implement the cut. LIAR!”

“We cant fix anything by cutting, cutting, cutting... We need revenue... we need jobs....
IMHO we need to close loopholes, stop subsidies, eliminate Bush's Tax cuts... & tax breaks.....
We need to tax Wall St a 1/2 cent tax on every stock exchange... specific toward the debt....
Also another 1/2 cent tax on every stock exchange.... toward the Medicare/SS... until the workforce payroll taxes catches up ......
Dont have to be forever... possible just a temporary tax.... Until we climb out this Bush/Cheney financial meltdown we're drowning in....
Republicans were pretty good at bringing a halt to the economy... lets see how good they are with solutions to bring it back..... beside killing every dept in governmnet they dont like.....”

“especially in military spending
Cut it by 50% over the next 6 years and we'll be doing a lot better.”
Business are not laying off people because they're upset their guy didn't win.
They're laying off people for economic reasons - taxes and regulations are about to spike, mostly from Obamacare.
The reverse is true: If new laws gave businesses incentives to hire people, they'd be hiring. Regardless of who they wanted to be president.”

“Businesses are not the purveyors of all truth, especially as it involves the economy, society, government and events beyond their sight and bottom lines. I know papa john has some mediocre pizza, but that doesn't mean that he knows or understands the effects of major legislation that touches all of society. There are many things that NOBODY is talking about least of all business owners.”
mamabeverley on Nov 10, 2012 at 21:43:34
“I am all for giving them incentives...after the fact. Hire the people and get a tax refund/rebate/credit. Business is sitting on 3 trillion dollars....they sure did not hire anyone with that money.”
Jafafa Hots on Nov 10, 2012 at 21:33:17
“Laying off people because of something that hasn't happened yet, that may not happen, that may actually have the opposite result is not a good business practice, it's not due to "economic reasons" because whatever effects that might have, even if you are proven right won't occur for a while.
If you're a stock market investor (i.e: casino gambler) you may make business decisions based on a guess. If you're running a service industry business you run it based on WHAT IS. There's PLENTY of time to fire people later if you find you need to.
And what you CERTAINLY don't do is threaten to fire people because of how an election went. THAT is not a business move, that's a purely political move, because even if you are RIGHT, you don't help your business by insulting potential customers and injecting your restaurant business into the middle of a political firestorm.
Regardless of the facts of Obamacare, that kind of angry spiteful move is NOT SMART BUSINESS.
When you want people coming into your shops, you put on a HAPPY WELCOMING FACE. Period. Unless you're a fool.”

“It is easy to say in hindsight what a person would do faced with that situation and imagine alternate outcomes. Sending rescuers, such as a nearby special forces team would have been sending more Americans to their deaths. The military does not sacrifice an elite unit to save four people who had, by all accounts, already perished. Also you have to remember that security force funds had been cut in a previous budget that was crafted by no other than the GOP's VP pick Ryan.”

“Romney isn't trying to take credit for anything. He is only setting the record straight about what a bankruptcy is and how GM didn't need taxpayer money. I think Romney knows what he's talking about.”
“American Airlines just went through bankruptcy. It allows them to reorganize and renegotiate contracts and lots of other things. Through it all, they kept flying. Bankruptcy does not equal going out of business.”
“The point is, Obama is in big trouble in Michigan because his "saved the auto industry" garbage is...garbage.”

“LOL I have my doubts about that, MI has been Blue since 1992. They remember millions of people still have a job due to Obama's bail out. Just because they voted in a Goper/bags Gov, doesn't mean they don't remember Old "Let them fail" Mittens as my GM family and friends refer to him.. It will be tight, but MI remembers..”
The truth is, Obama used taxpayer money to bail them out instead of going through a normal bankruptcy (by the way, going through bankruptcy doesn't mean you go out of business as liberals like to believe).
Why do you think Lee Iacocca, the Detroit newspaper, and Kid Rock have endorsed Romney?”

“Yeah, they could've gone through a normal bankruptsy and stayed in business through funding from private investors, but the private investors weren't interested in bailing them out. That's why Obama bailed out our auto industry, saved millions of jobs, and without the bail out, we wouldn't have an auto industry today.
Oh, and you forgot Meat Loaf.”

“A 'normal' bankruptcy at the exact same time the world financial infrastructure is melting down? Impossible. Strong, healthly companies were brought to their knees by the lack of credit. GM and the entire auto ecosystem would have collapsed. Obama's decision kept us out of utter chaos.”

“Well, that's just re-writing history. President Obama sought private banking financing for Detroit but no one had the funds or willingness to do it...You may recall banking was in the middle of a mess, too, at the time (they have since paid back all their government loans with interest)...
So, what Mitt suggested..."Let them go bankrupt", would have resulted in massive layoffs, the selling off of many car lines and units, resulting in a tiny, tiny GM.....And millions of people negatively effected...
What happened thanks to our President is that GM is growing...one of the world's largest automakers, and in fact, making the highest quality cars in their history!
It's not unusual.. The same thing happened to Toyota...The Japanese Government helped them buy paying most of the production costs of their cars so they could compete...it was a huge government investment.....and Toyota is now also one of the world's largest automakers....
It wasn't a bailout...but an investment...and it is returning profits faster than anticipated...
President Obama is a brilliant investor and financier.”
Gebby on Oct 31, 2012 at 12:09:39
“Kid Rock? There was no private capital to step in at the time. This is the difference. Also Bond holders would have received all. They would have liquidated the assets to reap a profit. Obama negotiated a restructuring between management, labor and stake holders. Just ask the head of GM. Lee Iacocca was bailed out also but in stronger economic times. Romney can not take credit. He said If the government bailed out GM you can say good bye to the industry.... He was wrong.”
