These bishops' wheeling and dealings were one of the biggest reasons why our founders put "Separation of church and state" at the top of the list in the Constitution. They saw how the church in Europe had been fighting like crazy to drag the continent back to the medieval, feudal era where the pope and the bishops had more power than the kings. They knew that if folks like this got in control, every amendment that came after it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

Seeing the current Catholic church in action has made me even more respectful and thankful to our founders who had enough foresight and education to install the "separation of church and state" as the first amendment.

Lastly, in Henry 8 church-busting style, these folks should get their tax-exempt status revoked so fast their head would spin. We would finance the HCR + 2 unpaid wars (the catholic church beat the drum for and didn't speak out on) with that.”
