“B/c such wingnuts own the majority of the mainstream media, that's why.

That's the reason the same majority came to Fox News's defense when it was rightly identified as the GOP pep-rally station that is merely opinion/talking points and not news.”

Rosa DeLauro: Recall Joe Lieberman

Commented Dec 15, 2009 at 17:44:21 in Politics

“And if Mrs. Rosa's ideas doesn't work, how about some investigations into he & his wife's dealings of late?

It's time to pull out the stops on him. He's been nothing but trouble, especially the last 2 years he went around trashing the man who helped him get his seat in 2006. He may have voted for the stimulus bill, but this HCR is a Democratic party plank, on top of the urgent need of his fellow Connecticut citizens to get affordable healthcare.

Mr. Joe Lieberman wants to be famous, then go a step further and make him infamous. He's got to go.”

“After the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011, that year's budget should re-instate the tax code to where it was in 1950 (90% marginal tax rate). I want to hear the Republicans squeal their heads off about the tax code that produced the economic expansion post-WW2.

That tax code was the opposite of the tinkle-down Reaganomics that the GOP is so intent on seeing continue. On top of that, the tax break that rewards companies for shipping jobs overseas should be repealed, and given to those that keep them here. And make it permanent.

I'm sure to hear stuff like socialism, redistribution, class war, etc, the words FDR also heard from the same party when he did the same. Of course the word "no" will be heard the most often.”

Loose paraphrase: "I ran for president not b/c of the policies I believed in, or b/c of some grand act of patriotism, but b/c I felt it was my time. I was 62..."

The McCain we saw in 2008 was the true McCain.”

“Too bad for them.

I want Cheney up there on camera reminding everybody of the last 8 years. Just when they start to blame Obama, they think, "Oh that's right, he's still cleaning up Dick's (the true president from the last 8 years) dung heap. Silly me."

Cheney is among other things like KSM trial (backdoor way of getting accountability for 9/11 and everything after) that they would like to see go away.”

“Neo-Con GOP long-term goal: How do we undo everything FDR did (regulating the banks, Social Security, creation of the middle class 40 years of economic growth = us out of power for a long time)?

Lets start imperialistic wars that won't be paid for (and won't volunteer for) & redistribute the wealth through tax cuts for the wealthiest ("trickle-down economics aka Reaganomics"). Then drive up the debt so high default is the only option, at which point such government programs and watchdogs over Wall Street can be dismantled ("small/limited government").

Result - 21st century feudal system in which the top 2% have it all, and the bottom 98% are fighting over guns, abortion, & scary boogeyman.”

“These guys long for the days of medieval Europe when they had more power than kings, the masses were ignorant and poor from the feudal system, and they financed wars wherever they saw fit complete with inquisitions and placement of scientists in their place (at the stake).

Huh, sounds like the years 2001-2008.

Political catholic church, meet Mr. Tax-collector. There maybe a way to wipe out the deficit quicker.”

“They haven't had any credibility since Martin Luther (maybe before that).

This maybe the number one reason why the pews in Europe are empty. They keep on cherry-picking stuff they don't like that defies their perceived power/influence, but ignore stuff Jesus actually talked incessantly about. He did have plenty to say about the religious leaders of the time.

But of course, I'm sure these bishops over-looked that.”

“We could erase the deficit, pay the 2 unpaid wars, and finance HCR with their property seizures.

Maybe that will teach them to actually care for the poor, the elderly, the children, and the needy like that Arab, socialist/liberal guy with hair of wool talked about. He didn't talk (at all) about abortion, but he did have plenty to say about religious leaders who cherry-picked "sins" and cared more for power/influence than anything else.”

“And they wonder why the pews in Europe are nearly empty (and increasingly here)?

These bishops' wheeling and dealings were one of the biggest reasons why our founders put "Separation of church and state" at the top of the list in the Constitution. They saw how the church in Europe had been fighting like crazy to drag the continent back to the medieval, feudal era where the pope and the bishops had more power than the kings. They knew that if folks like this got in control, every amendment that came after it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

Seeing the current Catholic church in action has made me even more respectful and thankful to our founders who had enough foresight and education to install the "separation of church and state" as the first amendment.

Lastly, in Henry 8 church-busting style, these folks should get their tax-exempt status revoked so fast their head would spin. We would finance the HCR + 2 unpaid wars (the catholic church beat the drum for and didn't speak out on) with that.”

“Translation for Mr. King & company: having this open, civilian court trial as opposed to a closed-door military tribunal will allow people to see that KSM is nothing but a Timothy McVeigh who will get his rear-end handed to him by the U.S. justice system, thus giving our arch-enemy Obama credit for taking out terrorists and being stronger on national defense than we ever were.

How are we supposed to make people afraid of the big bad terrorists when Obama swats them down like he did that fly? Plus, talking about accountability, torture, and all that jazz will have people looking WAY BACK into the Bush years. How do we, along with the corporate-owned MSM, keep up the meme that "It's all Obama's fault" if people start doing that? America, Pay no attention to the years 2001-2008.”
