If I Still Worked at Fox News...

Commented Dec 05, 2009 at 19:44:50 in Media

“Like Amalek said the real point is that being number one does not at all imply that something is of quality. And the fact Fixed Noise is #1 just proves that a lot of Americans don't really care for the truth.

But compared to FOX, yes MSNBC has FAR better quality, because it doesn't spread outright lies.”

“If I see FOX on and have access to the remote I change the channel - car repair shops, waiting areas, doctor's offices. Stand up to stoo pidity one monitor at a time.”

SpringDoc replied on Dec 05, 2009 at 02:59:39

“Glad you're doing that, too. I thought I was the only one doing that.
Another thing, I do... you might want to ditto... is turning books over of Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, and any others with extremists views that are helping Faux and the republican party to take our country into the pits.”

“Beck specifically said that Obama is against white culture. When Katie Couric asked him to define what that meant he could not answer the question. In that light you may be correct but it proves that Beck talks without really knowing what he is saying. I never thought I would think this but in that light I almost prefer a racist - at least then there would be some consistency.

Honestly I think Beck is just outright paranoid and clueless. The sad part is that it has made him a household name and a patron saint of teabaggers.”

“Nice reply, thanks.

You didn't directly answer my question but you did partially. I missed the part that he occasionally smokes, in which case his quitting will not be a significant drop in nicotine and his heart should have no adverse effects from the sudden cold turkey shock. I say he build up the smoke breaks and spend them playing more basketball.”

“Sadie thank you for your opinion.

Granted if there is one person on this planet under stress right now it is Obama. Seriously, is this a good time for him to quit smoking? I am a non-smoker, never have, never encourage anyone to start, encourage everyone I can to stop, BUT with all the stress he is under would the sudden cut off of nicotine be good for his mind and heart, considering in this unique circumstance how much stress this man is under?

I am not trying to be cynical but asking a serious question.

Regardless I hope he never smokes indoors and particularly around his children. As the child of two smoking parents I will likely have issues with 18 years of second-hand smoke in my home. My parents quit when I had kids so THEY would not have to deal with it when they visited, granted the knowledge on second hand smoke is far better than it used to be.

Thanks.”

SadieNardini replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 11:52:59

“You know what?

This guy bummed a couple of smokes on the campaign trail, and I would've too, had it been me.

He might bum one once in a while, so I don't want anyone getting the impression that he's some heavy smoker,

however, it was a good way for me to shed light on the issue of smoking that's killing our fellow countrymen, and world community. Not that I judge smokers. I just think there's a way to get more of what we all want out of life, and a way to get less.

I want you all to choose MORE, in any way you can, whether you're a smoker or not, under stress or not, a President or not.

We're all in this together--

let's support each other not simply to exist...but to really LIVE.”

How Would the Right Know It's Wrong?

Commented Oct 05, 2009 at 22:33:56 in Politics

“Marty, thanks so much for the article.

As an architect the term postmodernism conjures up images such as Phillip Johnson's AT&T Building and Michael Graves' Portland City Hall, each cute for the time but buildings that took pieces of historical architectural and made them whimsical in an attempt to improve modernism. After a few of these it became apparent that postmodernism was architecture trying to be something it wasn't. I see the term applies to a phillosophy that is equally pretentious and false.

And a great question for a title. I don't think they will have a clue for a long time. So it would be best to heed advice from a former whacko to let the righties wait for the secomd coming while the rest of us with a grasp of reality move on.

“I first heard Whoopi's comments on another site that played just a piece of the segment, which did not include Melissa Gilberts' discussion of the mom. Having heard the more complete blurb and the follow up discussion the following day, I now agree with your point.

What kind of parent allows that to happen? Obviously one with warped priorities. Thank you for your comment.”

“Great post Jamie, thanks. I think Dave was just cheating the media executioner and taking away any chances for his extortioner or anyone else to make a buck off the situation. Otherwise agreed, none of our business - it's between him, the women, and CBS to decide if any ethical breeches were crossed.

As the father of two girls WTF is Whoopi defending Polanski for? You think that that someone who so beautifully portrayed an abuse victim in The Color Purple would know better. Thank you for being far more grounded.”
