“Might have something to do with him being a chronic liar. As far as who was the worst president...time and history will tell but I have in my lifetime never seen a President who lied so much and pretended he did not know what was going on.”

“Maybe current public opinion is not quite as rough on him as some. Texas A&M has conducted a massive study showing Obama being the 5th best President in the history of these 57 er...50 states. 1. Tie-Lincoln,Washington,Reagan. 2. 17 way tie. 3. 22 way tie. 4. Carter 5. Obama.”

“You are not hearing me cheer Bush and a lot of his activity.....what I don't like is the pretending by the left that they are not contributing to our countries problems...I have to say this for at least some of the GOP especially the newer ones, they are accepting blame for overspending by their party...not so some of the older establishment that spent that money. the Left on the other man down to every man and woman will not accept any responsibility for overspending while at the same time wanting to spend more.”

The Super Patriot on Dec 6, 2013 at 08:04:02

“I hear that. There is good spending and bad spending. Too much is put on defense and subsidies. Other areas are lacking, such as Infra-structure, but keep in mind it only works if it is "well spent" and gets something done. There will always be spending. Thats how the elected justify tax revenues and their own jobs. The question should be how do we spend and is it worth it and when is enough spent. While they are at it they should do something about all that pork they seem to create. The whole congress seems to have a problem with that.”

“I cannot agree with your generalization about physicians....mine is more concerned about my health than his pay. I have personally seen universal healthcare in Taiwan where it works fairly well. I have had dental work done there at 1/3 the cost of having it done here and the dentist was very happy to have a private paying customer since he got more from me than he would from a government paid patient. Doctors here have to charge more for a number of reasons....first is the high cost of their education....most come out of school with huge loans to repay. Secondly compared to other countries they have to buy costly malpractice insurance. We would have to do some radical changes here to have a single payer. My dentist in Taiwan to control costs had a single store front room....no separate treatment rooms and waiting room....Everyone
dentist, assistant, receptionist, patients being treated and patients waiting were all in the same room. To survive the Dentist worked some evening hours and weekends. I have had my teeth cleaned on a Sat night some years back. We have better facilities, more personnel, and better equipment...but it comes at a cost.”

“What is it about the left that makes them fear this woman and brings out the hatred and disrespect for women in them. I am not a Palin fan....not that her ideas are all wrong but she is only in the limelight because the left tries to bully her. Hence she gets sympathy from the American people because as Americans we love the underdog. If the left stopped demonizing her in a short time we would hear little about her...but the left keeps thinking they can discredit her while at the same time support a President who has lied to us.”

“You seem to miss the fact that Obama and Bernake keep printing money to prop up Wall Street for their rich friends....that's where the money us being made....it is certainly not coming from our high unemployment economy. You also forget the Dems favorites for corporate welfare....like Obama's buddy Jeffrey over at GE.....interesting that GE one of the largest corporations in the world does not pay one penny in taxes....how do you explain that when you say it is the GOP sponsoring corporate welfare. Obama gets more contributions from wall street than the GOP candidates. And the Dems are missing nothing by not having Trump, Koch Brothers, etc.....they have Soros, Buffet, and the bulk of the Hollywood millionares. I don't mind your criticism of the GOP at all...but you are not at all fair unless you include the Dems who also are very guilty of playing for the money.”

The Super Patriot on Dec 6, 2013 at 06:58:19

“Are you telling me Bush never had money printed up? Or interest rates lowered? Did you forget the two wars that made Haliburton, Blackwater and every other defense contractor rich? As well as big oil? Or his Rx plan (759 billion) that big Pharma just loved! How about his 2001 proposal that lowered corporate taxes by 20% and extended write-offs for corporate losses? Continued subsidies? TARP (bailouts), deregulations?

All of that has led to the present sickening situation we have today. Granted Obama gets no free pass either. He is just adding to the mess. But the seed was planted long ago. In fact today we have a situation where nearly 300 corporations pay no, little and even more to the foreign governments they operate in than to the U.S., where they are based.

So who to blame? How about both parties in congress who gett lobbied at will while doing nothing to stop this. Which is why I vote 3rd party. At least I am not aiding and abetting crime.”

“Actually the 1%ers are doing better under under Obama than at any time since 1920....the income gap is increasing four times faster than under Bush. While he tries to make himself a champion for the poor and middle class...middle class income has actually gone down $4000. a year. YOu can see his contradictions in wanting higher energy prices....the rich can afford them...middle class and poor can't. Another example...cash for clunkers was designed to help the rich and hurt the poor and lower middle class. They can't afford new cars and the destruction of thousands of used cars sent the price for the remaining used cars soaring. The left is trying to create a two class society in the US...the rich elites who run things and masses of poor dependent people who are easy to control...especially their votes with handouts.

For years I voted Libertarian....and then thought I was wasting my vote...in more recent elections I voted a split ticket...but unless the Dems start taking responsibility for the damage being caused by the ACA I don't think I would vote for a Dem dog catcher....maybe I'll take another look at the Libertarians/.”

The Super Patriot on Dec 5, 2013 at 17:38:40

“A big part of the gap in wealth is the fact that the rich are still paying the lowest taxes they have since the roaring '20's. Remember which party fought tooth and nail and blocked everything they could, even letting the middle income tax cuts expire to preserve the tax cuts for the top. Now with their investment advantage due to their wealth and the stock market soaring, who has the benefit of that? The wealthy, which is why the gap keeps widening. Also we could mention the destruction of unions and the low paying jobs in the red states that the right keeps pounding their chests over.

The unfortunate thing is that the "business party" has no appeal to minorities and women and seems to turn a blind eye to veterans, the elderly and the poor so who else would these groups vote for? As far as handouts go the biggest freeloarders are those who get corporate welfare, which is nearly twice what social welfare is, and the non-union, union hating red states who take-back on average twice the federal taxes they pay. Yet they still vote republican. So are the freeloaders really favoring the left? And since the dems don't have the Koch brothers, Trump, Adelson and the rest of the Citizens United gang who really loves the wealthy more?

Watch the Libertarians. They seem to have gone away from Ron Paul and gone a bit more radical right.”

“Medicare for all would not work unless it was drastically changed. Currently providers lose money on most Medicare patients...that is part of the reason charges are high for others....they supplement others. I was in long term care....we lost $10.00 per day on Medicaid patients and had to charge private pay higher to make up the difference...Unless it was changed, a whole nation on Medicare would not last one day.
Also Medicare as it exists is going broke and unless changed will be bankrupt shortly.
When Obamacare fails, I do not see it as a shared failure....I think the GOP did not do a good job of presenting their case but to their credit they did warn of the damages to come...even introduced a bill to allow people to remain on their insurance. They were voted down. Not a single GOP signed this bill...to blame them for it not working is as ludicrous as blaming them for a website that doesn't work which is also being tried.....they may be wimpy, but unless we get a new party they unfortunately are our only hope. The Left is about power and wealth redistribution and doesn't give a crap about healthcare....if they did we wouldn't have this mess. thanks for your thoughts.”

The Super Patriot on Dec 5, 2013 at 16:21:16

“Actually you are are correct as far as Medicare being drastically changed. It needs funding and re-funding. Especially if a one payer system is to be implemented along with it.

As far as your thoughts on the left how about the right. They seem to only concern themselves with the reverse wealth distribution, which is to the wealthiest. When have they ever gave a hoot about labor or veterans. I belonged to both groups and never saw any concern on their part, I did however see a lot of cuts and even a recent filibuster that killed a Veterans Job Act.

In any case thats why I vote 3rd party. I may not ever win but I get to vent, Good luck to you and thanks for your thoughts too.”

Most of these places are not corporately owned so there could never be a union contract covering all locations....for the most part they are family owned businesses....and while yes a strike can hurt the corporation some, it is really devastating to the small business owner. I think this will be another Hostess Bread scenario....demand so nuch more than can be paid to survive and no one survives...neither the business nor the workers. People are not going to pay $8.00 for a Big Mac. On the bright side less of these places could lead to a healthier diet in this country.”

As far as the GOP.....they are supposed to stand as a check and balance but are their own worst enemy....they make a bit of noise but are wimps at heart. They knew and predicted the damage the ACA would do but did little to promote their own ideas. One of which is called "Common Sense Solutions". All I know is that I don't like what I see and I have great concern for our country. I'd say instead of making a bunch of accusations etc, we just see how this thing turns out in one year....by then I think we will know if it works.”

As for healthcare a single payer Medicare for all option would be best. As a senior citizen I currently have that and it works/fits like a glove. You are right that we must see how this works. The republicans had many chances, instead of repeal-repeal to work out a deal and help create a more solid, if possible healthcare act. If it fails it will be a shared failure. If we are stuck with a lemon as in everything in life its not one guys fault. Everyone plays a part. Remember it passed in both houses and the Supreme Court. No one is an innocent here. “Stop the exaggeration and the lies.....we do spend more than other nations but not double....And the reason for our higher costs lies with out of control medical malpractice suits....too much of our healthcare dollars goes to buy malpractice insurance. There are a lot of indications that healthcare will worsen. There is a country in Florida that has only 17 pediatricians in the exchange....yet has 250000 children. There are lots of examples of this. Describing all those policies cancelled as "junk" is a blatant lie just as much as the other lies told to deceive people. Many of them were superior plans. And another lie is that the GOP does not have a solution....the GOP had come up with at least six different plans. I have to fault them for being poor salesmen about their plans...but at least they did not lie. Come January the real problems start for this country and the real problems will hit later in the year when tens of millions more policies get cancelled.”

The Super Patriot on Dec 5, 2013 at 09:15:36

“How about "you" stop the lies and exaggerations and come up with some facts! Where are these GOP healthcare plans? Name them? Usually if you can't sell something its because you're trying to sell crap or nothing at all. As for Florida, the state has reported Pediatric shortages since 2008, way before Obamacare. Medical malpractice? Try getting any reform on that when you have a congress full of lawyers. As far as "junk policies" they were. They did not meet standards for coverage. Would you want to pay for something that does not cover you for certain ailments or issues? How would you like to foot that bill? Would you not at least see if there is a policy out there that will? I think your issue is that you have brought into the GOP fear that this might work. Don't tell me about 6 plans that did not sell instead name them. Remember Bob Dole and Mitt Romney? those were esstentially the same notions as Obamacare now they are no good. See I just named two for you!”

I am old enough to recall the scare of "global cooling" in the late 60's and early 70's...the one difference this time is that this scare is lasting longer giving it some credibility.”

stranger1548 on Dec 5, 2013 at 08:12:43

“You believe there was a scare about global cooling because of Time Magazine and the NYT. They are not scientific publications. The overwhelming number of peer reviewed papers predicted warming. In fact Hansen et al. was published in 1981 after a 5 year study. That was a time when sub zero temperatures were common during winter. He predicted pretty darn well how the world would look 35 years later.

The science of AGW is accepted by the overwhelming number of climate researchers. The deniers have been less than honest when presenting researchers from their side. Usually they are totally outside the field. But one thing seems to run through all of them. They're all right wing libertarian types. It's more about ideology than science.”
