Your friends, the teabaggers, left their designated protest area to walk over to the area assigned to the ANSWER folks. Why did they do that? Hmm, maybe, to PROVOKE them.

“So it*s ok to attack people because they walk up to you and take pictures of your sign? Come on, why defend them? Just because you agree with there opinion, you are going to excuse there violence?”

What Makes You Get Frustrated and Irritable? Getting Real About Stress
Commented Oct 06, 2009 at 18:06:51 in Living
“Hi Ed and Deb,
Always enjoy when you two post.
In September of 2008, I negotiated an exit package and left my job of 9 years as a Marketing Director. I was physically ill from stress, had a cardiac event in 2005 that ended in my getting a stent, and was generally "not there" for anyone outside of work - family, friends, etc. It was a stress nightmare.
After I left my job, I did volunteer work until December, and my plan was to find a new job in January. Good timing, with the job market falling on its butt! Fast forward to June with no job prospects, I started my own marketing agency with a friend...and I've never looked back. I thoroughly enjoyed my time off, and enjoy working for myself. I choose who I want to work with (clients and associates), and stress is very foreign to me. I have none. I no longer take Xanax, my blood pressure medicine dosage has been cut twice, and I've dropped 45 pounds.
I realize that my situation is not typical; I could afford to leave my job. But the lesson here is to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! In my case, I learned that I have little tolerance for corporate authority. So I did something about it.”

“Outrage. I'm not outraged. This doesn't rise to the level of outrage. It rises to the level of a dumb reason to fly around. And if you checked out the post I was referencing, it was a Bush-era calculation because people were pissed because he was flying from Philly to DC. We can't be hypocrites and wag our tongues at one administration and then not even mention the issue when it's our guy.”

I was born in the 50s, grew up in the 60s, and remember every "fat kid" I went to school with, because they were so very rare. One year was strange -- there were TWO; one male, one female. I wondered about that for a while, then remembered: the fat boy had been left back a grade.”

“I grew up in the early 60's, attending grade school in Chicago's south shore neighborhood.
Like so many of my generation, and many (I think) from later years, the "fat kid" was always the exception...not the norm. In fact, I can clearly remember the two fat kids I grew up with; Joseph Skitz and David White ("Steam Roller"). That was it. Two. That was back in the day when we got out of school at 3:10pm, ran home to get out of our school clothes, and rush outside until dinner time. Wolf down some food, say hello to Dad, and back outside until dark. Today, our neighborhood (with lots of young families and kids of all ages) and our streets are quiet and sans kids. What happened? TV, computers, etc. Oh, that was also back in the day when Gym class was mandatory - - 5 days a week, one hour per day.
Today, I am saddened and a tad disgusted by the obesity of our children...and many adults (usually their parents). Saddened for the kids, disgusted by the lack of parenting by some parents; yes, parenting does mean helping your kids make good, smart, HEALTHY choices.
Our health care reform discussions must include a dialogue about proper health, health maintenance and lifestyle education. We, as a society, are way beyond the unhealthy curve, but not too far that we can't retrace our steps.”

“Unfortunately (as we all probably know already) these kids are going to grow up with major health problems. That's almost guaranteed. We, as a nation will need to pay for it one way or another. Having Universal, Single Payer would allow the government to better regulate the food industry- which is very sadly lacking right now- We, as a nation with Universal would have a vested interest in keeping people healthy to save on the expensive surgeries, medications and bypasses that await these young people.”

“We had ONE fat kid in our entire school.
Now it's what? One in three.
Where are the parents? Putting cola in baby bottles, serving gelatin, fries and processed chicken nuggets as "dinner". Passed out on the couch with flavored corn chip dust all over their fingers and an empty liter of soda on the floor nearby.
Sigh.
We need food industry reform to go with our healthcare reform. But Bill's right. We also need personal responsibility reform.
Take the pledge with me: I vow that I will NOT pay people to poison me or my children.”
