“Typically these are women who often have a combination of the following factors: irregular periods, perimenopausel, moderately overweight-obese, polycystic ovarian syndrome, history of infertility, on birth control and taken antibiotics, very busy lifestyle. If a women has been told she cannot, or is unlikely to concieve, the thought of being pregnant never dawns on her, and she may explain away any symptoms as GI distress, flu-illness, stress, or gas etc. Also, some women continue to have periods at least partially through the pregnancy, or are so busy they lose track of when they last had intercourse or a period. This is of course more common in the overweight patient because of lax stomach muscles and expanded abdominal girth that allows for the growing pregnancy to go on unnoticed, and some women may just think that they have just gained a few pounds due to stress or age etc. I know it sounds hard to believe but it happens, and keep in mind this is not usually something that happens to a small framed, thin women in her twenties.”

“Obviously whoever stole this child is not beyond extreme corruption. I think she is very possibly out there somewhere. On rare occassions we here about stories of child abductions that get solved some 25-30 years later when the child figures things out, maybe this is one of those cases.”

“There's always a time in a child's life when they are curious as to where they were born, who their parents are, etc.,etc. Maybe, one day she will be questioning the people she's with now...it's so obvious when you know you have some characterists of your mom and dad...that of course, they're your parents. She won't see anything if she's with another couple, etc. This of course would mean she's with compassionate people....”

U.S. Gun Deaths Since Sandy Hook Top 1,280

Commented Feb 2, 2013 at 00:43:52 in Politics

“I AM NOT A FAN OF GUNS....however...We live in times where criminals think nothing of invading your home and blowing you and your family away all in the name of taking your flat screen. It has also become unsafe to pump gas, deliver a pizza, run into the market, or take a walk in the park, as you may get mugged, which is why as a women, I no longer carry a purse. These realities may be hard for those who live in low crime areas to come to terms with, but if you live in a high crime area, AS I DO, your daily life becomes infiltrated with a certain level of fear, and I understand why some may want a firearm for protection, (not an automatic assault riffle). This is a complicated issue, and I agree that regulations need ammending, especially how you secure your firearm in your home. We also have to look deeper into our culture. We are bombarded with violence through media, funding for education, and mental health is nill, the American family has become fractured, law enforcement is overstretched, and criminals are completely undeterred. Punishing violent criminal offenders to the fullest extent of the law, needs to occur. The loss of life is heartbreaking, but the streets of this country have been sprayed with gun violence for decades now. Perhaps had we gotten in front of that horror, we may not have a country full of fearfull citizens purchasing guns.”

Mike in San Pedro on Feb 2, 2013 at 01:14:58

“Other countries have figured out the solution. Look no farther than Canada. They aren't cursed by the Second Amendment or the NRA. Hence its firearms murder rate is about one sixth of ours.”

“Oh, I get it... I am in no way rich, I am not a republican, I am a conservative. I work full time, fifteen hours days while going to school full time, for which I am paying my own way. I have worked full time for the last 25 years. I know what poverty feels like, and I know what welfare feels like. We had to be on it when I was a child in the 70's due to my father's issues/addictions that stemmed from having served in vietnam, nowadays they call it PTSD. I hated being at the mercy of the goverment. I NEVER want to be there again. The government cannot provide a comfortable lifestyle for you, no matter how many rich people they tax. I believe in a strong work ethic, and I believe in helping others, especially the truely helpless and disabled. My problem with this pres is that it has gotten so expensive to live under his policies. My health insurance has increased three times, groceries, gas, you name it. So many talk about tax policy and I understand the theory, I just don't agree. Inflation is killing us, and what we needed was insurance reform, not Obamacare. If the government were to cut the waist, fraud and abuse, raise minimum wage, or mandate businesses provide certain benefits, I would be for that. That we could directly feel, but it is not the MIDDLE class who benefits from raising taxes on business owners.”

“Sad... U.S. cruising down the road full throttle to becoming a nation of helplessness, entitlements and takers. Just know that the government can NEVER do better for you than what you could do for yourself. Putting yourself in a position of dependance on the government to provide for you is utterly foolish.”

billbb on Nov 7, 2012 at 01:00:06

“Hope won. Hopelessness was the Republican brand. They tried to sell that lie, and spent billions doing it, and what did it get them? You misread this so badly that you could not see the real America, where people work hard and just want a hand up, not a handout.

Now, what did the government do... The telegrapgh - that was a Congressional grant. Canals, roads, every early railroad and the Transcontinental Railroad. Airplanes - which were all bought by the US Army to start, standards that made radio, television, cell phones and even electric lights work interchangeably and reliably. And this here Internet thing you seem to love so much. We don't ask the government to do everything, and never did. But there are some things the government must do to keep this from being a jungle mentality. We have moved beyond that, and the Republicans missed the demographic shift. We don't grow more dependent on government, but do grow more dependent on each other. It's called civilization. Republicans should try it sometime.
