“I wont go into detail but poison gasses can be made several different ways . The components can be gotten many different ways . I am sure that Syria did not need our help to produce gas . I do agree that this is a smack to common decent behavior and if not stopped could signal to others that gassing people is acceptable in War or to control populaces . The devil is at work in Syria .”

“why, tryagain? What keeps a parent from teaching their own baby?? Why do the poor or anyone "need" a gov't program to show a child flash cards and read to them??? It's a parent's joy....and job to do so. Besides, most parents work full time and raise their children and still have time to do what's natural.”

Do they have names, i want to know”

“I think that - in this context - 'they' could fairly be interpreted to be the combined power of national governments and trans-national private corporate interests which now appear to enjoy the unfettered right to surveil and persecute ordinary citizens on a global basis.
Niemöller's poem serves as a moral warning for anyone who is willing to turn a blind eye to an incremental erosion of personal liberty on the basis that the increments don't affect them personally and who accepts the arguments made for those incremental erosions at face value.
A threat to the dignity and machinery of the state - such as the revelation that the state is engaged in overbearing surveillance of its citizen-subjects is not necessarily the same as a genuine terrorist threat either to the machinery of the state or the citizenry and it is an abuse of the powers assumed by the state to conflate one with the other as a means to harass the ordinary citizen.
When we live in a world where local councils abuse their powers to surveil residents on the mere suspicion that they are lying about their place of residence to acquire a school place for their children, the state has acquired too much power.”

“you may get a form of ptsd from watching a movie, i was young, under ten and my family went to a war movie.
the tanks were rolling over a field and a soldier was down, the film maker filled the screen with the treads that moved the tank, closer and closer it came to the soldier who was unable to move, then it goes to this screaming guy being mowed down.
i took it as real, and started to scream in terror and couldn't stop.
still can see it in my mind
wishing you happiness”

“You are still part of a tiny minority and also I am not recommending to take under 10 year olds to see the Saw series or a war film - that is entirely up to the parents, not Hollywood. I saw Halloween and Elm Street before I was 10 and they frightened me for years while at the same time fascinating me with their unique aesthetics and ambiance that only that one piece of film creates and I went back to them when I was about 16 with no issues. Now I am 25 and love Argento's Italian giallo films from the 70s - they are full of death and beauty and incredible music nowhere else to be found. Enjoying that hasn't made most viewers more inconsiderate to violence (my made up statistics that I believe in)... I think one should face the more boring truth that 80% of horror movie viewers find the film over the top and funny while not taking the violence seriously, 17% are genre fans who have an aspect they enjoy about horror and 3% of the population is screwy and lessening violence on the screen isn't going to make them become soup kitchen volunteers.
I talk about horror, but still violence. I hope I am not too off the mark with this response.”

“violence through entertainment, to the mind is still just as violent as seeing the real thing.
if mankind needs to be aware of his cruelty to one another, including other beings and our earth then watch documentries.
to watch violence for entertainment, to me, is per verse and holds no healthy value”

“"violence through entertainment, to the mind is still just as violent as seeing the real thing."
Wait, what does that actually mean - you get PTSD from watching Saving Private Ryan?
I have watched movies with every sort of sadomasochist gore effect and heartless cold violence and taken what I will from them, aesthetically or however the hell I choose to. After that I will still tear up from seeing a poacher kill animals on a documentary or shiver from watching the video that went viral about a year ago of a Chinese mother pushing and tossing her crying and screaming toddler and so on and so on.
Watching gore flicks and then going out to hang out with a puppy on the sunny meadow is as logical to me as making eggs for breakfast and in the meantime I do not become less benign.”
