“Wait.. what about the people who took out baloon loans they knew they could never pay.. just to get into a nice house and/or bet that they could sell it for a profit after 2 years before the mortgage rose too much?? They are innocent?
What happened to individual responsibility in this country?”

“"What happened to individual responsibility in this country? "
Why is it you are MOSTLY concerned about the individual responsibility of people who are NOT wealthy and NOT trained in accounting and economics and were TRICKED into balloon payments they couldn't afford and LOST everything?
Those people have already MORE than suffered for their individual choices.
What happened to the individual responsibility of the people who got PAID to trick them, who got bonussed for tricking them, who knew about the balloon payments and downplayed them, who knew they borrowers couldn't afford them and sold them anyway, who packaged up the bum ploans they new were bad and re-sold them as if they were good, and then took more than a trillion in government hadnouts.
Where is THEIR responsibility for this? Why is it only uninformed individual borrowers who lost their houses who should be responsible, while highly trained and expert lenders who got rich doing this and then took government handouts should not be responsible?
Why do you hate the average American and want to paint them as the bad guy when they are the victims of a fraud in which the fraudsters got a trillion dollar loan instead of a prison sentence?”
“Must be nice to spend $6 Trillion in 4 years and put our kids and grandkids in debt for the rest of their lives.. At least banks use their own money. But GM does still owe me / you / other tax payers $25 Billion.
Where are Barney Frank and Chris Dodd during this 'predatory loan' discussion? And why are Fannie and Freddie still buying most of the USA's mortgages?”

“they used the money given to them. you can be sure they would not risk their own money. and don't go blaming obama for this you know damn well who did and made out from it. gm should should have closed down.”

“You right wing extremists and lack of logical thinking!
What power did Barney Frank have in the House from 1995- Jan 2007? Like today?
Chris Dodd? Oh you mean since there was only ONE bill passed by the GOP controlled House (Where it take simple majority to pass ANYTHING!) on F/F reform, HR 1461-S109, WHICH DUBYA THREATENED A VETO ON?
Government data show Fannie and Freddie didn’t take the same risks that Wall Street’s mortgage-backed securities machine did. Mortgages financed by Wall Street from 2001 to 2008 were 4½ times more likely to be seriously delinquent than mortgages backed by Fannie and Freddie.
“The idea that they were leading this charge is just absurd,” said Guy Cecala, publisher of Inside Mortgage Finance, an authoritative trade publication. “Fannie and Freddie have always had the tightest underwriting on earth…They were opposite of subprime.”
“Nina.. hi. Could you please provide some facts for your total insult to Bush.. or were you just speaking from a keyboard with no facts?”

“Sure can: do a google search for "george w bush disappearances". I just did hoping that the news article I read a few years would pop up and no dice, but on the first page there's a link to Google Books and a book called "George W. Bush, War Criminal?" Click on it and the link that pops up will show you a nice neat chart of all the things Dubya has done in regard to "disappearances" and even ISSUING AN EXECUTIVE ORDER that demanded enforced disappearances.
Now, on to the case I read about in high school (2006): an Ohio woman was hanging up signs in her town encouraging people to come to a meeting at the library to discuss the possibility that Bush should be tried for war crimes, while wearing an "Impeach Bush" shirt. She was approached and apprehended by local law enforcement, who did not allow her to contact her family or legal counsel. Her family tried multiple times to get in touch and by the next day local law enforcement said she "was not in custody," but she never came home. She just flat-out . . . DISAPPEARED. She has never been found.
Just one case among many.”

“TxBadOneToo, you must not be familiar with widely reported events. NinaLyn is speaking about very well know events. Of course these were not reported on Fox News, so I understand why you know nothing of them.”

“Yeah, Nina. as soon as Bush apologizes to America and the World for his 8 years of incompetence, you need to apologize to baby G.”
“Roofin let's just be honest here.. most MSNBC and most FOX News 'opinion' shows are opinion based.. not factual. O'Reilly - who I often disagree with - might come close but no cigar to being factual. They are opinion shows - not news casts. Rachel et al are opinion dominated. So is Hannity.
And if you honestly believe that MSNBC is more 'balanced' than FOX News then I think that's just your political bias typing.. not facts.”
“Rachel (as does Donald) expresses more opinions than facts.. in my opinion. And I wouldn't equate the number of Obama's voters with MSNBC.. let's just look at MSNBC ratings vs. FOX News ratings (audience size).
As for people not agreeing with me - I was the one who said people should just switch the channel and not look for retribution for an opinion expressed on TV. I was the one supporting the ultimate value of the 1st Amendment - not looking to judge other's comments or look for networks to fire them.
And as for Trump being 'treasonous' as one responder above stated.. I still remember many on the left calling GW Bush un-patriotic (Obama), comparing him to Hitler.. and let's not forget Ed Schultz' rant about wanting to take out Dick Cheney's heart and stomp on it like a football..
I'm asking for retribution or for MSNBC to do anything.. It's their 1st Amendment right.”
RoofinReality on Jan 8, 2013 at 00:27:26
“All opinion shows are hosted by people paid to share their opinion.
Rachel and Lawrence tend to have a TON of facts (relevant, contextual facts) behind their opinions.
As for viewership, Fox has TONS more viewers than any other station. 1) it didn't seem to matter.
2) it's a lot easier to dominate when you're on the fringe right and everyone else tries to have a balance of the news.
That's just the facts.”
“Lawrence O'Donnell is upset by something that Trump said? Talk about irony. If NBC goes after Trump for his political opinions then wouldn't NBC (MSNBC) have to go after Lawrence, Ed, Rachel, Al and others for their extreme positions as demonstrated during the 2012 Presidential race?
Personally I think we should all respect the 1st Amendment and just turn the channel if you don't like something that someone is saying.”
RoofinReality on Jan 7, 2013 at 22:27:08
“Comcast maybe,but not NBC.
NBC and MSNBC are two different children in the Comcast family.
As for extreme, two points.
I don't think they have extreme positions at all.. Rather, they seem to highlight the hypocrisy of the right wing.
And Rachel in particular, she just brings the truth, fact-checking herself whenever it turns out she's made an error. Not often, but when she does, she owns up.
Secondly, if they had extreme views, odd that 65 million other people, after 69 million people in 2008 had "extreme views."
Look, Tex, just because people don't agree with your view doesn't mean they are extreme. That's why Mourdock (well, part of the reason) is not a Senator now. It's my way or the highway was his mantra. In fact, he basically said those words. THAT, Tex, is extreme.
Trump can have hir 1st Amendment. Comcast/NBC is just saying they don't have to pay him for excercising it.”

“There is a big difference between political opinions and slander. The 1st Amendment does NOT allow people to lie or make false statements about other people.”

“Yet another who doesn't understand the first amendment.”
“Im guessing by your name you are in Texas. They are known as having some of the least educated people so that answers that. For you to perpetrate the lie about sharia law in America is a disgrace. YOU should be ashamed of yourself.”
