House Health Care Bill: A Death Sentence For My Fellow Breast Cancer Survivors

House Health Care Bill: A Death Sentence For My Fellow Breast Cancer Survivors

Commented Oct 30, 2009 at 19:31:00 in Politics

“Okay. There's no pork in it. Pork is safe as long as it's not cured and long as it's not fed hormones or corn.

There's beef in it though, big thick fillets for them to feast on for years and they will succumb eventually to mad cow disease, so feed them the cow? But in the meantime, some people will die of starvation.”

“It has nothing to do with religion. Well, maybe a Godless religion, but that's not Islam. Sure, it says, slay the non-believer in the Koran but it also says it in the bible. We're not living in the first century anymore. Revenge drives al Qaeda, and that's it, starting with the Soviets, our intervention into the war on the side of the jihadists then deserting them after the reds moved out, and then our bullying tactics in Saudi Arabia, stationing troops on Arab soil and bringing our lousy culture to their lousy desert. Bin Laden was pissed for being thrown out of Sudan, and then his own country.

Paradise? Sure, the beggars they recruit believe that stuff because they don't have anything else. The leaders are running a scam outfit, a way of life, the life of a permanent warrior. There is no God in killing. Both sides need to know this.”

AirForceBlue replied on Oct 24, 2009 at 11:49:29

“Couple truths in your response plus couple of inaccuricies. When we helped against the Russians it was the US supplying the Afghans with weapons and other aid to fight the Russians, not exactly for the Afghans benefit.

You and I are not far off. It has a lot to do with religion as a motivating force.........the 19 extremists who crashed into the World Trade bldgs, the Pentagon and a filed in Pa were well-educated, from fine families.”

“The difference being that in the one instance, the don't ask-don't tell policy in the military, could be cancelled by executive order. Immediately. It takes no time.

And then ask yourself, what if you were gay? And didn't have civil rights, and were out of a job and had no health care. Wouldn't you still want your civil rights?”

Why Gays Can't Wait -- Gay Rights Are Civil Rights (VIDEO)

Commented Oct 12, 2009 at 10:22:35 in Politics

“It's simple. Obama is afraid of the right wing propaganda machine jumping all over this.

Gays are nice targets to bigots and hate mongers. So a black president supporting gay marriage or openly gay military personal is a slam dunk for those idiots.

What Obama doesn't seem to realize and the hate mongers on the other side don't realize either is that a majority of Americans are not homophobic or bigoted.

Obama is losing the health care battle and he's about to lose the civil rights battle because of short-sighted, micro-managing of useless statistics that some A-hole is showing him. He's got some genius pointing out to him that supporting Gays rights, not just verbally, would be disastrous for him in 2012.”

dfuller replied on Oct 12, 2009 at 10:51:32

“Wrong. The majority of Americans are against gay marriage.”

MajorNews replied on Oct 12, 2009 at 10:36:41

“You are right, "majority of Americans are not homophobic or bigoted..", but they also do not believe that it is right to have Gays openly in the Military or Sports.
Now, I happen to support these issues, but from someone who has a house in Charleston SC, I can tell you that most Americans do not support saying that Gay is same as being not-Gay.

BTW, I also spend half a my time in Vienna (Austria), where I am right now, so it is not like I am a Southerner or anything like that. as I also abhor those Republican lunatics such as Demint, Graham, Wilson, Sanford, etc.

So given the MUCH BIGGER problems that US has which Dems need to address 1st, that is lack of Universal Nationalized Health care and ending Iraq war, these extreme Gay issues are just a gift to the lunatic Republicans.

Ich wünsche alles ein sehr gut Tag :)”

morganhoyle replied on Oct 12, 2009 at 10:34:17

“More like NOT supporting gay rights would be disastrous. Bigots and hate mongers are not the people who put him in office in the first place, nor were they able to keep him out. If Sarah Palin is the Rep. candidate than it doesn't matter, it's a one man show anyway.

Obama needs to represent the people such as gay and lesbian voters who put him in office in the first place. He needs to concentrate on doing something worth our time in his first term before he even contemplates re election.”

“Sorry for Ruth Reichl(editor). Her books and her compassion for food have sustained me for a few years. Hopefully she'll move on to a better place.

I don't know why I canceled my subscription but I think the mag had turned into a kind of gorgeous travelogue. The recipes weren't all that inspirational. More imput on technique and actual talking about what makes food good, would have been nice. Times are rough. That 10 bucks a year seemed like a luxury item. If I would have known...

The Gourmet cookbook(big yellow thing) is fabulous.”

True, the boomers f.....ed up with Bush and Clinton, etc. But don't disparage good food. Please! If you have to eat you may as well eat well. It's not self-indulgent. It's just not being lazy.”
