South Dakota Sioux Tribe Seeks Emergency Assistance After Ice Storm

South Dakota Sioux Tribe Seeks Emergency Assistance After Ice Storm

Commented Feb 1, 2010 at 05:21:31 in Impact

“Ship in-kind donations to:
Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Chairman's Office
Attn: Ice Storm Emergency Supplies
PO Box 590
2001 Main Street (Tribal Offices)
Eagle Butte, SD 57625

You can also contribute money to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe's emergency relief fund, which has been depleted in the past months. .

I just "donated?" money online to what I believe to be "Cheyenne-river-tribe-storm-relief-emergency-assistance" via giveMN.org. via "Network for Good?"
Are online donations now currently available? are they still unavailable as you most recently stated?

“Hey, everyone. We here in the East, anyway, truly have a skewed understanding of Indian casinos. The ones here in CT are super beautiful, upscale, pretty...fit right in with the CT/NY state of mind. However,I've been to the southwest plenty of time, though I know South Dakota is NOT there, thank you. I couldn't believe the tribal Indian casinos I saw there. They are not at ALL like what you hear about in the news or see in "destination" spots. I did see TWO that were modern, big resorts..the other ones reminded me of cheap bars out of 1950's noir films. Folks, those Indians are poor-very poor. And their states as "sovereign nations" is due to an ugly history with the country they are in. Now I LOVE my country. But as a nation, we have NOT done all peoples right, as is our ideal to strive for. We all know it. PLEASE, if you can change your voice from DISDAIN to at least passive acceptance (which is just a hair-width above disdain), at least it's going in the right direction. For the life of me, I don't understand where the cynicism comes from. THEY AREN'T RICH....THEY ARE POOR. You don't have to give them your life savings, or your house. But you can try to give some respect...a bit of research on the internet will show you. Don't be so harsh and quick in your judgments is all I can say.”

“I have 3 statements to make:
1) Leonard Peltier should be paroled _now_.
2) After 33 years, it is starting to appear that the FBI is going from "justice" to "vengeance".
3) Leonard Peltier's Official Website is www.whoisleonardpeltier.info.”
